and the Land Rover is still - 4 weeks on - mid processing for Historic Tax and won't be back in time barring some sort of miracle in Swansea.

if you have done the historic taxation stuff at a post office, the "£NIL tax this for me, heres the V5 and a V112"

then from that point onwards as should be confirmed on a receipt you should of been given, the vehicle will be taxed, and if its been 4 weeks since then you can probably see it taxed on the DVLA's 1st party checker :)

so even if you dont have the V5 back yet, it should be taxed and all tickety boo, and even if for some reason its not showing as tax, you can use the receipt as proof, on the unlikely chance some copper gives ya grief about it

so unless its a case where you have had to declare it manufactured 1982 and are still waiting for the DVLA to get back on you with that, I think it should be all good :)

Unfortunately not....

The only 2 local post offices still open when I get out of work, both refused to do it as they'd never seen the exemption forms before. I was therefore forced to apply by post, after contacting the DVLA to ask if this was possible.

Having applied by post and waited 4 weeks, during which the paid tax ran out, I got back in contact to be told "Please allow two more weeks for the application to process. If you have still not received a new V5C or confirmation, please contact us for further assistance. The vehicle must remain off the public road for the time being, until it has been successfully re-taxed".

Useless bastards.

thats a bugger, as a last ditch resort, if you happen to have the 11 digit number of the V5 on hand, you should still be able to tax it online in the current PLG class, its Paid-tax but the DVLA *should* refund you the difference, once they do process the application, (possibly even all of it since your application of historic tax will pre-date your purchasing of PLG tax, but dont hold me to that) (and you can SORN it once you get back from shitefest)

you could also just try and call them again, spin the wheel again and hope you get a more helpful human being! sometimes they may even be able to tax it over the phone to get you out of a hole

Looking forward to seeing you all tomorrow. Please bring cash for payment - £10 per person per night for camping payable to me please on arrival. Sunday breakfast will be a little different this year as Tom from the Bakehouse has decided he wants a lie-in on the Sunday. Chris the Chef from my work will be doing you sausage and bacon breakfast baps and a brew for £5 payable in cash to him. Not your usual rubbish, Chris has bought good bacon and sausage from a local butcher. He'll be serving up at the Bakehouse from 9am on the Sunday morning.

One sleep 'til Shitefest!

@Six-cylinder Say hello on the way past, I'm supposed to be working till 5.30 but might sneak out a bit early.

Chris could pick your tent up and we could have it up* for you upon your arrival after a hard day's work?

I'm sure those who witnessed it going up 9 years ago at the first SF Cymru can't wait for a repeat of me attempting this.

* About 11pm as I'd arrived just before the pub quiz started.

Scotland are doing multiple convoys as far as I know. The mentalists amoung us will be leaving home about 0530, Tebay breakfast, then Leyland Commercial Vehicle Museum and then...

Top work. What have you moved on to? :)

Trying to decide which car to bring.  The MG has been ruled out due to the forecast - a mid-engined sports car on tired ditchfinders on soaking wet Welsh back roads is going to be fun for all the wrong reasons.  The Toyota has also been struck off the list as the wipers are making a row and so 600 miles of rain would drive me mental.  That still leaves a few different options - I'll see how I feel in the morning...

Possible late-to-the-party action from Yours Truly and even Keymaster, but only for Friday night and Saturday daytime, due to prior commitments.

Is there still space for un camping-car Friday night and plane museum mayhem on Saturday?

I won't be able to make it after all now.  Been feeling crap mentally this week, and 600 miles in the Espace might be asking too much (of both of us).

But it'll be good to do some shite related events soon, so will aim for a FoD meet instead.

This will happen at some point also. Probably Saturday evening.

1st prize is a bottle of Irn Bru 1901. I am currently being informed there may be some other MYSTERY PRIZES being donated.

Team entries will be allowed but you'll have to split the prizes.
