Yeah, purple and red are Final Edition S8 only sold in the UK. These were specced by the dealer and also came with the extended leather package. I don't know what the hell they were thinking picking these colors but they are rare cars.

Convince a conservative buyer to buy the latest, more expensive model rather than an older, cheaper runout?

Usually it's about offering extra special/loaded examples to get the run-outs out the door. It actually worked well in case of the S8.

I know a bloke that runs a Renault garage in my home town had a Hi-ace van in the 90s with 747 seats in the back. (The aircraft, not the actual amount!)

Winner for me is the seats in the Metro 1.3S, especially in green as in the brochure (Which I can't find a picture of), so here is some in brown.

Never seen a blue one, that must look incredible.

It was my brother's; pale metallic blue with a tideline up to the rubbing strip in cheapo underseal. Rotten as a peach, he welded it up for each MoT and put a fair mileage on it but eventually there wasn't anything to weld patches to.

most will have seen a flint coloured interior on a roverised montego

but there was blue as well 😍🥰

The interior of the run-out Mercedes 190e Avantgarde Azzuro, with a different colour for each corner, including the trim on the door cards and floor mats, it also got carbon look trim on the dash instead of wood and a 2.3 engine with Sportline chassis package. Sadly the UK spec Azzuro LE run out were bog stock 1.8s and 2.0s with the standard cloth interior.

Terrible pic, but this very red interior combo in a Mk1 Cavalier got me all hot and bothered a few years back...

Imagine cleaning up sick in the back of that...

This is from a Maserati Quattroporte that was up for auction last year. Wish I'd kept more pics. The cabin looks like a really special place to be

I don't know why velour went out of fashion in favour of sweaty pleather in various hues of grey that splits and cracks and feels like British Leyland vinyl.

Peak interior for me is the 1990 405 range.

The fabric went from base scratchy fabric through tweeds and up to lovely velour.

The leather in an old Jag is lovely and soft. Leather in a  Kia is nasty.

Is that the horn? Parp, parp!!!

I think it's used to inflate something to *ahem* fill the void left by the arse puckering normally associated with trying to drive one of these things.

The first of the mk5 cortina came with matching colour interiors . My first car was a cortina with this interior .

You also got green and blue . I think it only last a year then it defaulted to brown interiors no matter the colour .

Fiat 130 Coupe

sometimes wonder what happened to this car, watched the auction for it and the sale price was pretty low (£7k IIRC) for a RHD manual car, probably because of the beautiful* interior/exterior colour combination

hope whoever bought it didn't change anything, though I would probably tolerate a switch to the equally cool orange fabric that was an option on these

I found the interior of my 1993 Mini Sprite a little bit grey and dull...

so when I had the body repaired I upgraded the interior.

Striped velour in the Croma livened up the grey a bit:

For 1981 you had five possible interior colours for Cortina (Windsor for L, York for GL), up from four when the Mark V was launched, the grey being a later addition:

Some degree of colour coding was still available right up to September 1982, unfortunately this brochure doesn't detail the possible combinations:
