Jikovron Posted August 16, 2021 Posted August 16, 2021 I knocked one up for this using pre 98 grandad rights to avoid a type approved towbar,,it wasn't worth the 50quid saving given all the fabrication hassle! Either way 1000kg towing limit is handy enough! groovylee, Minimad5, Barry Cade and 4 others 7

catsinthewelder Posted August 25, 2021 Posted August 25, 2021 Didn't get a photo but just passed a Nissan Cabstar in Bridgnorth being dwarfed by the load on it's trailer. It was some kind of cylindrical tank, the flat base was sticking out about 2' either side of a big Ifor Williams trailer and it must have been as tall as a double decker.
Richard_FM Posted September 12, 2021 Posted September 12, 2021 I was a little surprised to see today a J reg (1970/1) Jaguar XJ6 (possibly XJ12) being used to tow a large caravan. While it's probably up to the job, most classics this old are quite pampered. eddyramrod, Royale80 and Shite Ron 3

My friend's dad used to use their '76 Daimler for caravaning duties until he got too old for the long drives to the coast. Wish he'd kept the car as it had been in their family for many decades
rickvw72 Posted September 15, 2021 Posted September 15, 2021 Fourtrak is basically a tractor. Towbar is the chassis. No messing.

Isopon Posted September 23, 2021 Posted September 23, 2021 I was out earlier and saw someone towing a single axle trailer with an MG TD, more strange than ambitious I'd have said. Lacquer Peel 1
scorchio69 Posted September 23, 2021 Posted September 23, 2021 NATO hitches seem to be fitted to anything out here in Qatar and every single time I see one I can only imagine the pain of walking into one whilst walking round the car, tow balls are bad enough but these are just designed by sadists .

Datsuncog Posted October 7, 2021 Posted October 7, 2021 Towing with your Up!? With a cherished plate like that, I'd have thought the owner would have a little man from the village to do manual tasks like take hedgeclippings to the dump. But here we are. Faker Posted October 8, 2021 Posted October 8, 2021 Already posted elsewhere... but here’s my little 5’3” x 3’1” factory made galvanised transporter! It’s just too cute! i-m 4 single seat golf cart transporter. Ideal for ride on mower transport duties. I love it! Datsuncog, St.Jude, warch and 1 other 4

Mostly because pintle hooks come as standard equipment on anything but the most basic Nissan Patrol, which is one of if not THE best selling car in the GCC. I used to have a combi hitch that 3 different sized balls and the sharpest most lethal looking hook on it. And yes, i did crack my legs on it fairly regularly
Fabergé Greggs Posted October 8, 2021 Posted October 8, 2021 Not so much ambitious, and nor do I have a picture, but I once saw a Mercedes G63 AMG towing a Biiiiggg twin axle caravan. What was impressive/stupid is that he overtook me up a big hill- he really booted it and fuck me did it shift whilst also making LOTS of noise Barry Cade 1
Rab Posted October 8, 2021 Posted October 8, 2021 My Wellington based-stored S1 XJ6 has a bunty tow hitch...and a sizeable dent on the boot..which might have been a detachment mishap...its also got over sized tyres on it...a towing advantage idea..or not? Plenty arguments on caravan forums about that!

AnnoyingPentium Posted May 6, 2022 Posted May 6, 2022 I've thought about fitting a tow bar on the Fabia for taking a smol box trailer for things, but it's the cutting into the bumper that's required that gives me the fear. Barry Cade 1
