I'm giggling, but I should shamefully admit that my Dad bought my Mk1 Eunos (a nice one) from me in order to have enough £ for a house deposit. 

At the time, he was doing up a house himself, so the last thing he needed was a 2-seater sports car. Ever the pragmatist, he put on a tow bar and got a little box trailer to cart his DIY materials around.
