He's a shit manager and anything he's 'achieved' at Chelsea so far was only what RDM could easily have done himself. Benitez is a fat fucking clown, they might just as well have appointed my nan as manager and she died 25 years ago.

He may have won a trophy with Liverpool but he should have stayed as that big fish in a small pond, he's not fit to lick Di Matteo's boots, let alone lace them.

Willswitch, I agree. R.A's had his turn now and if he continues he'll make them almost impossible to manage as no-one will want the job. Di Matteo or The Special One are the best for the job and I don't either will bother again.

At least Stephen Vaughan doesn't own Chelski.

Realising that most of my AV kit is knackered in some way or another.

Despite having someone 'fix' my C542, it still shits itself and jumps when you play CDs - discs that play fine in the OMGFGcuntfaceshittyblooble 7890 £20 boom box downstairs. This is not acceptable.

Telly will only accept an S-Video signal for so long before blanking out. The modern equivalent is about £430 or thereabouts and doesn't have a S-Video input. This is because I can't be arsed forking out more for a Blu Ray player. Most of my stuff is DVD and Region 1, as it happens.

DCC player has a gubbed capstan and won't read tapes. Chances of me getting it repaired : pepperland.

C320BEE Amp is still fine, as are the M73s that survived a fall down a flight of steps at County College. The absolutely ragged to death SL1210 record player I fluked off eBay for £130 is still working perfectly, too. It did seven hard years in an East End club without being serviced.

In deck terms this is the vinyl equivalent of Pete-M's Mk2 Golf that had done 330k and still ran well.

So I have a car for sale on ebay over the festive period. My mobile number is on the listing and as usual I've listed the car's many faults. The phone rings at 9 pm tonight and all I can hear is screaming kids, then a man's voice asks if I have a car for sale, what's the mileage,MOT and tax.I can hardly hear him above the noise and I did notice it was a mobile number. Is it that fucking hard to move somewhere quieter to have a conversation ? Anyway, questions he's asked are all listed on the advert so I ask if he's even read the listing. No was the reply.Oh great, I'm trying to explain what a shed this car is above the din and I'm getting wound up.He's asking for my address (which is on a business ebay account) as he wants to look at it in the morning.I had to repeat that I am at work in the morning."so I can't look at it tomorrow then" I told him to ring me at midday but only if it's quiet.

If this idiot does phone tomorrow and it's the same racket going on then I will put the phone down on him.

I don't have kids of my own and I don't approve of them shouting and screaming in public places and I certainly don't want to answer the phone and hear screaming kids. Some people just don't think when making phonecalls.I blame Dom Jolly.

B.T. don't do that dail a disc anymore, do they ? maybe there's a market for dail a screaming kid.No, didn't think so.

Thank fuck Christmas is now over and I'm back to work tomorrow, I'm quite looking forwards to the break and the normality again to be honest, Spent the day today at the in laws and was bored to tears having to watch "The land before time" cartoon, every time I managed to fall asleep my 3 year old nephew woke me up again, There's loads I had have been doing at home instead of being sat round there all bloody day.

On the plus side at least I have electricity again after yesterday disaster, No electric from 13:10pm to 17:30pm just as we was serving our xmas dinner to 8 people, the whole street was up in arms about it, at least 100 homes were affected.

Fark me that CF is the absolute spit (save for it being a single wheeler) of the one they had at my first job working for Cunter McKenzie's nursery/garden centre. I actually gave up counting how many times I was twatted by loose wheelbarrows and various other implements.

Decided to decorate the boot of my car with a few of those Top Gear "cool wall" fridge magnets to discover that they shrivel and fall off in the rain :(

Fucking brilliant, latest expansion tank has decided to laugh in my face let water and pressure out of a latest crack at the top by the cap. I'm getting fed up these wanking expansion tanks

You sure that it's been a series of shit tanks rather than the thing chooching loads of gas into the coolant? See if you can get it down to an MOT bay and get them to stick the gas analyzer around the header tank cap and sniff it for hydrocarbons.

Posted

To be fair, they are exceedingly prone to this. The plastic seems to get brittle with age and heat cycles, so (as LS has discovered) fitting a second-hand one won't necessarily end well. Wonder if you can get one made in metal?

Posted

lots of places sell expansion tanks in stainless steel, or i will sell you one (with bracket) in brass

PM me if you want more info / postage costs etc.

I think Pete-M got an ally one for his Subaru.

Cheers lads,

Cobs - J. Wobbler Esq is correct, these tanks are prone to cracking due to age, heat cycles, and the fact that they were simply badly made. They also have weak spot in a curved area. This latest one was already cracked at the top, I took a chance thinking the crack had not got through to the inside of the tank, but it has. I have one more horrible looking old tank in the loft, I might take a risk with this as although it looks crap, it has no cracks anywhere, it looked as if it did before but had been heavily worked on. If it works I shall use it until I can get an alloy one made up or find a long term solution.

I have another good tank somewhere that came from a later car but I honestly cant get access to it without moving all the crap in my garage.

Autofive - A PM will be winging it's way to you just now...

After rain got in through the passenger door mirror, the Maestro has been unable to dry out, so much so I'm mopping the inside of the windscreen free of condensation before making journeys anywhere. Today, the indicator relay has decided that while it will work perfectly fine for the indicators and not dick me about, it has to click all the time, continuously, frustratingly. I'm hoping this is just a damp issue, but I suspect the relay itself may be breaking down.

Also had to ditch even more of my stuff due to a lack of space. It really is getting quite depressing seeing my possessions dwindling away like this.

I know with some old PSA shite that leaving the relay clicking all day and night caused a few fires in Xantia's etc... Might be worth changing it. I think anything from most cars will fit.

VA, don't think of it as losing your stuff, think of it as Post Christmas weight loss. This means you can travel light, and can pick up speed better. Eventually the gloom will lift, and you WILL be back on your feet, stronger than ever before. Trust me. Been there, done that. Now I have three sheds and a garage rammed to the ceiling of Land Rover parts, 1956-1985 ish..... will I ever use them? Dunno, but the moment I get rid, I will need it!

I just dont f**king believe IT! :x

I went up into the loft today to find that horrible looking expansion tank, could I fond it? Could I f*ck. Now I cant remember where it is, I'm back down to having to rob an expansion tank off my White Sterling for the 2nd time. If this one cracks, I shall dump the bastard car outside of my house and leave it to rot.

I cant enjoy my ever decreasing holiday time with my bastard car at my disposal to use when I want to use it.

Mo, seriously, how much is an ally header tank? Is it not worth the £100 or whatever it would be so that owning the car isn't a continued arseache? It would stop you having to swap bits out of the other Stirling as well. Expensive, but probably worth it. Or do you need an unfucked one for reference?

They are bastards those 800 header tanks, proper fragile! Can they not be araldited or something?

Posted

Can't you hit a few breakers and get a similar one? I have a Ford Puma. One you can have for nowt if you like.

All the more reason to get an ally header tank made then, surely - if it's a design weakness. I know next to nothing about those V6 engines. Is it a Honda part that fails?

I will ask the stupid question. Can you not pop to Halfrauds and buy a cheap fibre glassing kit and fibreglass the bloody tank? It wont look pretty but it wont leak and will give you time to look around for an alternative instead of changing one fucked one for another.

Just an idea.

Posted

Cheers lads. I will get an ally header done at some point, but I reckon it would take some time what with sending a spare tank off, getting a cast done up and so on. I have thought about aralditing it but knowing my luck it'll just blow through.

Freebird - I know absolutely less than nowt about fiberglass and the likes, it is a good idea though.

Lankytim - All the breakers are helpfully shut until the day I go back to work, after that I will probably have no time to hit the breakers until the workload at work cools down, I doubt they will have a header tank anyway.

As I said, my White Sterling isn't going anywhere soon, it's header tank is from a later 800 which are better made and not so old. There is a mod for the 800 to use a tank from the Volvo 850 but I have no time to go around trying to collect the various hoses and such forth for the mod, it will be easier getting an ally tank made up. For now I want the bloody thing mobile again without risking damage to the head gasket, so I'll pop down to my garage and pick up the tank from the White car.

Thanks for the suggestions though lads.

The AA

Dad just told me an anecdote... left his lights on all day at work, got back to a flat battery, fair enough. Called the AA who jump started it, then tested it. Came up red and they tried to sell him a new battery for £120. He said no, drove home and obviously the car started fine the next morning. Still, he goes to the local garage the next morning to get it re-tested; predictably it comes up green and the garage owner says you shouldn't test a battery when it's flat. Also, that their price for a new one would be only £75  (or only £50 from eurocarparts)
