Can confirm that there's no fuel crisis here so far. Filled up the other day for 136.9 at the Shell station in South Queensferry. I wonder if the "OMG TEH FUELZ IZ GOING TO BE ALL DRUNKED BY TEATIME!!!!!111!!!!!ONE1111!!!!!" Will get as far north as this...

ebay mongs:

i saw a car on b.i.n/make an offer... lobbed a offer on @ £500 under the b.i.n.. declined...kept lobbing offers on going up £50 each time..... everyone declined.

by this stage i am £50 under the b.i.n, so i contact buyer..."what offer will you take for the car" he replies.. "no offers, it has a b.i.n price" so i told him it had a b.i.n/make an offer, he says "his wife must have put that on, and that the car is worth the b.i.n price as when new they cost £37k"

that may well be you turdwipe, but the car is fuggin 14yrs old now!!

Haven't been on the forum for a few days, but, Hirst, that was very well played. The amount of HR people who really haven't got a fucking clue is astonishing.

Cheers! My advice to anyone who is facing some kind of "official" disciplinary action is to completely abandon any hope of being reasonable and decent about the whole thing. If the management have decided they want to go down that route, they've forfeited that luxury. If you concede to them and accept something which you know isn't completely right, they'll treat you as second-class for the rest of your working life (I've seen it happen all too many times). If you're awkward and cocky, it actually makes it more likely that you'll be left alone. The worst that could happen is that you'll lose your job and if you're in that position, you might as well consider it a "dying" job anyway.

I'm pissed off just had a letter from the DVLA saying they cant refund my tax as my details don't match those on the V5... They don't match because a fat fingered clown in Swansea misspelled my surname!

I've rung them and the automated computer says send the letter must be sent back with a circle highlighting the error I then have to wait another 4 weeks while they think about it  . I really don't see why they cant sort it out over the phone, I can't wait until they shut the local offices and every thing has to be done via swansea...

Oh I'm so glad that the Tories have told us not to worry about the fuel situation. Oh, but we should apparently keep our tanks topped up AND store fuel in jerry cans? Oh, right. That shouldn't cause OMG FUEL KAOS then. Fuggin' idiots. I guess they expect us all to blame the truck drivers (who according to the government will almost certainly probably strike over Easter) rather than do what we're actually doing, which is wondering why on earth such a bunch of complete idiots are in power.

Bloody well said Mr Wobbler.

Legally, there has to be 7 days notice before a strike could begin anyway. WTF happened to "keep calm & carry on"??

Indeed. I am hoping that the union wouldn't be as stupid as to call a strike over Easter. That really would lose them any sympathy at all. I don't necessarily agree with the tanker drivers taking this sort of action, but I agree a whole lot less with the government's stance!

The unions are desperate to fuck up any chance of an economic recovery in this country. If they have an opportunity to screw things up they're gonna take it. This is just another example of Union mentality. "The country is in deep shit, so we're going to strike to get our members more money for less work. We don't give a flying fuck if we're inconveniencing everybody, in fact that's what we want to do because the country voted our buddies out of power. Inconvenience everyone and hold the country to ransom. Recession? Pah, we still want more for less. We're not gonna help the country, we're gonna fuck it up the arse and blame the Tories. Same as always".

Meanwhile, the oil companies make more and more money while the price of crude is high - that can't be helping the economy either, seeing as people's disposable income is going on fuel rather than the other things that will revive it.

What I believe the dispute is about has a lot to do with health and safety and working practices, which when you're trying to safely navigate the UK's roads - thus avoiding the rest* of the general public whose own driving gets in the way of their oh-so-important social networking, don't forget - whilst trying not to slop 30-odd thousand litres of highly flammable liquid on the deck is a fair enough point to me.

The reason these idiots are in power is because of the last bunch of idiots, and they were in because of the twats that went before them e.t.c, e.t.c.

Indeed. Still, it's fun to wind up the Union folk.

Bloody man flu. From nowhere. Ah well, only 2 more 12hour night shifts to battle through. I feel like I've spent all day falling down the stairs.

Bloody Unions/Tories/Nick Clegg.

There were mega queues and Morrisons today. I was suprised and a bit worried that Megan would get bored with the wait (we were running on red and have loads of important baby groups to drive around polluting the hatmosphere to get to).

Only it turns out the queues were all people in cars with their filler caps on the drivers side waiting for a pumpon the "right side".

I cruised in behind a lady in a Renault who had the same "out there" genius* idea as me and filled up on the opposite side. Craziness!

As I left another car overtook 8 cars to do the same thing

Also Megan is ill, and I have contracted a mutated form of Man-flu that as such affects girls way more than boys. And OH has gone out for a meal. Cheers love. :|

Genius! I habitually do the same thing, which is normally GR9.9 except for the other week when I forgot I was driving a long wheelbase van . Muppet.

Hope you and the littl'un feel better soon though, or failing that, that OH feels worse.

Bluddy 'ell. I'm glad I decided to drive around Snowdonia in the sun rather than visit you for a cup of tea then! :P (though I'm very sad not to get you drool over your brown Astra).

That said, t'wife has had a sod of a cold that I've been desperately trying to avoid catching. Successfully so far...

Just had to put some fuel in my lad's car. Nearest garage was slightly busier than normal but no big deal so filled up the usual amount there. Went past Morrison's and it was just utter chaos yet there are two garages about 1/2 mile away that had no queues whatsoever.

Best thing? They are all selling petrol at the same price!

Amen to that brother

The Union did fuck all for me when Midland Bank wanted to include sat morning into our working week. When I started out it wasn't closed shop but the union rep would shit in your lunchbox everyday if you didn't join. Did we strike, did we fuck I left and found a better job! Biggest waste of my money eva

We should follow Homer Simpson "Strike! We don't strike, we just go to work and do it really half arsed, that's the American way" come to think of it that was the British Leyland way except when they were on stike that is.

I was watching the news about revolting teachers tonight and listening to some bint telling us what a bitch of a job she has and doesn't want to work till she is 68. Not only was this a great recruiting advert for teaching but I think she might have been overdoing it a bit on what a hard life she has. If the job is that bad fucking give it up and brighten the kids days up too. I am sure that they could fill her job many times over.

Another saggy 58 year old bag (who probably doesn't get enough) was bitching about having to pay an extra £30 / month to keep her pension. so when she retires in 15 minutes time she will get a pension and might just leave enough for the next poor bastard to plunder the fund on retirement. Her attitude stank. people like this couldn't give a shit that the fund is empty and in danger of collapse so long as they get their 30 pieces of silver.

I have seen diesel on sale today at 150.9 a litre. Money grabbing bastards.

It must be down to the PMs briliant advice against a strike that hasn't been announced yet.

Remember everyone:

There is noNEEDtoPANIC BUY FUEL!.

Nobody should STOCKPILE FUEL IN JERRY CANS.

Or words to that effect. Is the Daily HateMail writing his speeches?

The last time there was fuel kaos I saw a guy trying to fill a carrier bag with diesel and it was all pissing out the air holes as he pumped it in.

As far as I'm aware the Unite union (Labours biggest cash cow) are backing the tanker drivers not because the lads at Hoyer want more than they're current £45,000ish a year but because they're concerned over safety issues and would like to go to work in the morning knowing that they'll return home alive at night. Not too much to ask is it? Mind you, Eddy Milliband isn't coming over too statesman like when it comes to backing industrial action. He's finding himself stuck between his annual cheque off union subs and trying to win over an electorate that's usually two tankfulls away from revolution. How he plays this will be interesting to watch as he's not known for making the tough decisions well, remember Diane Abbot?

Have you thought about asking the tanker drivers just to refuse to deliver diesel, Pete? You'd have a road network full of pez powered projectiles for one glorious week!

I was too young to drive last time around, but I distinctly remember the long queues at the stations near school. Having said that, the ones around here didn't seem especially busy and I haven't seen any sold out signs yet

Bang on Warren, bang on. I fully agree about Milliband too, I think he was starting to squirm not too long back when the press asked him his views on industrial action. He clearly had to cut a fine balance between trying to make himself/his party seem electable and not pissing off the people who are feeding him. That sort of thing could make or break the man and it'll be interesting to see how it plays out.

Last fuel crisis, LRP was still available, so I lobbed that in the 2CV and drove around quite merrily while others struggled. Haven't got that fall-back this time. BX has a bloody good range though, and is currently full of fuel. I need to fit a new brake caliper to it, but that's a mere technicality that will stop me using any of its fuel until is done (hopefully tomorrow - though I've also agreed to help a neighbour with their Megane CC. Has a flat tyre and some electrical issues...)
