Ahh, shit. Know how much you love that car, is it saveable? I hope so mate.

I have a portapaower, should you need it. Mr Bollox has it at the moment though.

As i said over on FB, I'm gutted for you mate, at least you can claim against someone.

Ref stiff and soreness, I know it's not the done thing on here but i would really make a claim for it, You might feel a bit stiff and sore now but trust me, in a few weeks time when you can't get comfortable at night and wake up in the morning with lower back pain and stiff neck you be grateful that you did, and that you'll be able to get proper treatment for it.

I was slowing down approaching a crossroads where I'd have to give way, and about 50yrds from the end of the road, there is an enterance a carpark on the left, he was driving towards me then just turned across my path to turn into the carpark. He says he didn't see me, and I certainly didn't see him indicate. There was nowhere to go, it was either this or down the side of his Avensis which would've only caused more damage.

He's admitted fault, to me, the 20or-so people that came to see if I was ok and the police. Ive got all his details so this will get sorted. I just want to get it out of the police compound and back into my yard as soon as possible.

Its saveable for sure.

A wing, bonnet, front panel and grille. Then stuff like a apir of lights and indicators, new number plate and such. The innerwing will need a tug, but from my cursory glance at it last night while waiting for the ambulance was that the suspension hadn't been touched. Its mostly cosmetic.

I think I'll be putting a standard front panel and front bumper back on too.

Posted

Glad you are OK.

By the way, make sure the car doesn't get taken away by an insurance company, either yours or the other parties. I can see you want it home as soon as!

Posted

Ray Charles in the Avensis will be paying for all that. Glad Escrot's saveable, and even more glad you're OK...

ah, what a pisser about the Mk1. Just shows you how sometimes it is impossible to avoid having a crash no matter how carefully you drive.

Sure it will soon be back on the road though. :)

I don't think anyone said this, it was the "oh someone bumped into my car at 0.1 mph and I must have whiplash despite no pain" style claims people objcted to.

That is a real pisser mk1_4dr, I'm glad to hear it is savable and hope that they sort it our for you without hassle.

As everyone has said above, really hard lines - but excellent both that you are ok and that your 'pride and joy' is saveable.

The pic made me grumpy too

Glad you're alright and good to hear it should straighten out ok. I was never sure about the holes in the front panel anyway :)

Ex pressed Panels in Keighley should have all the body panels for the old scrote in stock. They might need a bit of fettling to fit, being patterns parts, and they aren't cheap. By the way you have that person by the balls as they've admitted liability. they broke the golden rule in bumps. NEVER admit to owt. If it's in a police compound, it may take a bit of wrestling to get it back, because the insurers may want to do a 'total loss' claim, and whilever it is in the compound, it makes it easier for them to take ownership whilst paying out.

http://www.steelpanels.co.uk/index.html Their prices are scary!

I'm glad to read that you're ok and that the car can be saved. The rest of it will be sorted sooner or later. Following on from Felly's point, make sure you give written instructions to the police that they are not to release the car to the insurers or their agents.

Not sure about that. Doesn't a 50-50 claim impact your future premia in the same way as a proper fault one? If so, I'd rather admit liability for something that has been clearly or mostly my fault than have the insurance cartel rape another motorist in addition to myself.

Youur insurers will always, and I mean always tell you never to accept liability at the scene of an accident. When I worked on the buses, the union and management drum this into you too.

Whilst looking through my Youtube history I can't believe how many blanks there are where Autofives uploads were. :(

That's their problem. Good luck with suing me for disobeying it.

Had a rather brilliant night on the razzle, caught up with some old mates and got totally pisses. All fine until my daughter rang me to say the Internet doesn't work. Came home and my compute AND the Internet at home are bollocksed. Typing this on the mobile still hammered and knowing that tomorrow morning I'll be in a right mark :(

FUCKING HELL Dave.

Main thing is that you're OK. A massive brucie bonus that the car is, too. Didn't see the update on Facebook, I just saw some pictures of it next to an old building with graffiti on it.

The office bike 460 Turbo is available if you get mega stuck for transport. The only problem is that SCTSH_ANDY is using at the moment due to 9000 clutch FAIL.

Shit, Dave.

Gald you're OK, but hardly conducive to a happy Christmas....

Makes my lesser grump of being stuck in a desolate showroom with Heart FbloodyM stuck on seem pointless. Heart seem to have one Christmas Compilation CD on an endless loop, only occasionally being interrupted for Maroon 5 or something equally execrable. The tuner is locked away in the parts department, all we can do is try to drown it out with the telly. The cacophany is unbearable.

But, like, that's a crap grump compared to yours.

They only seem to have about 3 adverts..Could be worse, could be Town 102........That Hadleigh Tyres ad grinds my gears. The same company a few years back did one for a glazing firm called Coldseal, using exactly the same music and voice...Argh!

Trailed to the local Staples for some brown packing tape today, bought a couple of rolls last week that were sticky for a change so went and bought the 6 they had left.

Will be taking it back tomorrow as it's absolutely shite. Not the same as the others I bought for some reason. It's on a par with the car boot duct tape that's not sticky either.

Wouldn't mind but it was best part of 90p a roll.

Have some Ebay stuff pack and get sent off before the last carrier dates for Christmas.

I'd like one of these but they are a tad pricey...

Wasn't it CortinaDave who lost his radio gig when Heart took over the station he worked at?

You have my sympathy Roadwork, dross like that can send you potty once you have started to notice it.

Can't you just tell the boss that they are running adverts for a rival dealership, and that you are replaying it in your showroom. I tried that one once and it worked, for a bit......

1245 - "Hi Andy, railways are on the phone, can you swap your 70 seater for one of the Van Hools and go light to Carlisle Station?"

1500 - arrive Carlisle Station, buses everywhere, the line that was off (Carlisle to PRESTON - bear in mind I've brought a coach from Glasgow...) has returned to normal operation. Put on standby.

1915 - still here, in the coach park, freezing my bollocks off. Gonna be here til close of play tonight and I've left my sleeping bag in my own bus back at the yard.
