But I found a way to do 3 years at Lancaster by self funding. To be honest, 3 years at University is like 18 months of solid parties and knobbing women so it was still worth doing, even without the qualification, life experience, learning about stuff and looking good on my CV. I tend to leave the knobbing women off my CV.

if i had known knobbing women was so rife in british education i would have swotted like a twunt :D

though i would do a copy of cv with the knobbing left on just incase they started recruiting for the next "john holmes"

tailgaters:

i had one the other day on single road coming out of local asda.. admittedly i was ploding along daydreaming as i knew traffic ahead was chocka (roadworks) when he starts blaring his horn and waving his grubby hands at me.. i was so scared it affected the car which for some reason slowed to 15mph :D we got to roundabout i gave him the "evil stare" and he just roared off in his pimped up astra ...wanker!

WAT:

I, for one, would gladly swap places with you right now. Seriously.

I started writing a long post out last night, explaining some of the reasons why, but then realised I just sounded like a sad tosser, so forgot it. Let's just say that after a week of being me, you'd be running back to your own life in tears. I imagine there's plenty of people right here, on this slice of interweb, who have things even worse than me, as well.

Life sucks, and watching complete twunts' lives sucking a lot less just makes things unbearable sometimes, but it's all about perspective.

Like someone said, go for a walk down the High Street at the weekend and have a good look around. If it's anything like my nearest one, you'll be feeling like a superhero after about 5 minutes. After 10 minutes you'll be wanting to kill people again, though, so be careful

You've just had one door slammed in your face, but there ARE still loads of other doors to choose from - you might not like the colour or shape of them much, but what can you lose by trying them? One day you might find yourself with only 1 or 2 options left, and you'll be genuinely gutted that you didn't grab life by the balls when you could, trust me on that at least.

Meeting at work today.

My job is officially fucked over.

Still, on the bright side - interview tomorrow :D

It's all in hand Mr Duke. I think the majority of my anger stemmed from the fact that the rules had changed and that nobody, anywhere, from the HE advisers I spoke to the SFE people themselves, told me about it beforehand.

I'm still convinced the rules were changed on the QT as none of them knew when the transition was effected. I've asked for the date of change in writing under the FOI.

Had I known this was the case, I would have gone about applying differently. After the third or fourth time on the phone (unbeliveably, the same idiot girl from Monday answered the first time, so the phone went down and the SFE number was recalled) a helpful bloke suggested that I didn't supply enough evidence as to why I didn't finish my course. Since last night I have been on to my GP, student support at Lancaster and my therapist from 5 years ago - all of which are happy to supply evidence. I am also going to rewrite my account of the previous year's study and word it very carefully indeed. The appeals team have a 3 week turnaround so there's still hope yet.

I was completely gobsmacked at SFE's decision on Monday. Now that I'm over the shock, I can see I have some options. I have just had my role at work (on a new team) made permanently back office with regular hours and no weekends. If it came to it, I would be prepared to do another year there + bar work +eBay dumpathon.

I'm not the best off on AS. Neither is my hand a brilliant one. But I realise now that things could be far worse.

I have no money. Like literally minus £1500.

I owe my mate £200 for a trip to Finland next week.

And I have just booked a trip to Berlin in September.

The only way I can stay sane nowadays is to get out of the country as much as possible!

Plus the repairs to the Triumph which I will be paying for (as mentioned earlier on here) due to my forgetting to renew my insurance will cost me about £200.

This week I turned down work because I got drunk instead.

What is happening to me?!!

Ah well, fuck it.

Wat, good luck. As far as cars goes, you have 2 that can be treated as a commodity - the Amazon and the C4. There is a part of the course I am currently studying that is entitled,

"The Time Value of Money".

Basically, this time next year, the Amazon will be worth roughly the same as it is worth now. The same can't be said about the C4. So sell the C4 and buy a 6-ish year old Accent or similar if need be! Keep the Amazon as your last resort - if you HAVE to sell it when needs must, make sure it will be when you cannot regret the descision to do so.

I hate to sound like an arsehole, but everything apart from illness, death, homelessness and maybe a few other things I can't think of are trivial. I got bored of getting pissed off over other people's decisions.

Has anyone used the new Google Images yet? Jesus, what a horrible experience. Why can't they leave things alone???

Hotmail - Whats going on here? This new version of hotmail has rendered Hotmail useless, I cant open up and read my own e-mails and I know lots of people have all of a sudden just found this out.

Why cant people just leave things alone, eh? Stop all this "updating" nonsense and leave things to run as they are.

I'm not the only one then! A bit of warning or consultation would have been nice... "would you like us to change your inbox to this?" "Do you mind if you never reply to any of your important business emails ever again?" Fucking tossers. I can read my incomings, but reply? Not a hope, "the page cannot be displayed." Well what fucking use it it then?????

I don't normally use such language in public. Thanks msn!

Mine seems OK. I sent a message to one of my Gmail addresses, then sent it back, then replied to that but it said that that address wasn't in my contact list (where I got it from in the first place) it said it had gone but it never arrived, tried again and it worked.

ETA: The first reply came in half an hour after the second one, must have gone on a bit of an excursion.

With regards to life, my advice is to make the most out of what you enjoy and try your best not to take anything else very seriously.

Take today for instance, there was some Email at work from the higher-ups full of doom and gloom, about potential mergers and job losses and all this balls. I was too busy using Autocorrect to change all references to "The Leader" to "The Dear Leader Kim Jong-il" and adding loads of Clipart tanks/soldiers to worry about its actual content. Will this leave me in a daft position if it all happens? No, it'll leave me in the same place as everyone else, but I didn't have to worry about it happening.

Yes, my account notes at work are making less and less sense.

E.g. 'The customer complained that something happened. A pithy response was generated by the system. Rosebud.'

Fuck me Hirst, you are seriously barmy. Welcome aboard. Do you ever hear voices/get images in your head, concerning instances where you got fucked off by idiots somwhere.....? I do/did. Ahem.

Hotmail are distributing thier new broken system in clusters by area. Some people have had access problems for the past week or so. Hotmail last worked fine for me a couple of days ago.

Has anyone used the new Google Images yet? Jesus, what a horrible experience. Why can't they leave things alone???

Exactly. I'd imagine in the light of current so-called "Improvements" Google, Hotmail and their ilk are just trying to justify their existance. They dont seem to understand that not everyone who uses computers are 'techies'

Happily though, Google Images, like most 'normal' systems have a link which you can click to return to the 'basic' version (see bottom of page on google images) should you not wish to use thier improved versions. Something Hotmail left out/couldnt be bothered to do, which has resulted in the loss of many users from what I've seen.

In other Grumpy news:

My boiler decided to spew out water today and leak all over the carpet/wooden flooring. Thankfully though, Birmingham City Council actually managed to send someone within the hour. Must be a record.

Lord, if you're really stuck and need four wheels to earn cash, You could borrow the Merc from me. Just a thought. I'm in Halesowen.

Thank you Metrobi! I'm often in Halesowen aswell (I live literally a stones throw). At the moment I'm not too desperate, but, I will keep you in mind.

If you need a hand with anything, let me know anytime.

Cheers mate, :D

We seem to be in need of Inspector Pooseau at work today. Someone has pinched the flush mech out of one of the cisterns. Bizarre

Feeling your pain Dave, hope you sort it soon.

Tried to get hold of the lad who did engine change in same car, can't get a bloody number for him anywhere sorry.

The only (hopefully useful) bit of gen. I did get was that he used the radiator out a 1.7 dizzler Astra as it fits in better due to being slightly smaller.

Everything works mate, all I need to do is suss out the blue/red wiring that connects to the immobiliser ring on the ignition barrel. Other thing to do is get another dashboard loom with immobiliser wiring and fit that AGAIN. It just hurts to have to get public transport to and from scrapyards!

Dave, briefly caught up with the lad who converted his Astra last night. I couldn't remember what your problem with your car was but the lad said he found a black wire tucked away behind the glovebox and this was the main feed he needed. He then ran a wire from this somewhere. Hope this helps.

I'm going to grumble about the quality of grumbling on here, gotta be honest theres some fairly pathetic complaints getting thrown up. If your house has been nicked by joyriders and burned out, your kitten has been run over by a steamroller or your little brother has shat on your best silk shirt while your attention was diverted, then fair enough you've got something to complain about, but many of these 'complaints' could be dealt with by a clip round the ear and a comment like 'pull yourself together man FFS'.

'OMG I'm skint!!!! cos i've paid for two holidays and turned what little money I did have, into hot piss'.... get a grip!!!

Grumbling about grumbling in a grumbling thread? Priceless

They all are to the people who post them. Still think this thread is worthwhile to keep the griping off other threads.

The main focus of my whinging there was about being annoyed with myself for being crap with money. And paperwork.

Yeah I know there are people in lot worse situations!

So there.
