In other news, several times tonight my clutch pedal didn't fully raise up after being depressed... The bite point went lower too when this happened. Hooking it back up the last few mm fixed it, and other times it was utterly fine.

Perplexing, can I squirt wd40 at the pedal and make it fixed? Will see what it's like tomorrow... Still drove fine mind

That has the whiff of a self adjuster playing up, may the Lord have mercy.

If you ask Fish for a storm, you won't get one. You have to ask for it to get hotter.

Oh, really?

Bloody sodding intruder alarm.

Phone line has dropped out, probably BT doing some maintenance.

Alarm goes nuts, sounding the internal siren and excitedly proclaiming "telecoms failure!" on the display. Punching in the code silences it.

...until the line comes back up for ten seconds before dropping again.

We're on the fourth cycle of this game so far this time.

I think about thirty one night is the record.

Direct lightning strike to the building today. AC power stayed on fine though it tripped the big breaker* from the batteries so everything that runs on DC went out.

Main core router, secondary circuit router, BRAS, PON core.. not a fun afternoon to recover from. It's 8pm and things have just settled down.

*Think the big one in Jurassic Park they had to throw to make everything come back on. This one is stamped "8000" and that's not the model number.

Id happily get another car, bit bored of the gooner although it ticks many boxes. Clutch was utterly fine this morning! Off to Worcester on Sunday so I'll see how it is then! Might move the aa card to the glove box from my wallet

Don't want to jinx anything, but Mrs N's old Gaylander2 did that a few times before the concentric slave cylinder failed - both times.

I don't even know if Lagunas have such a thing, so let's be positive and assume it's a return spring somewhere.

Although on the positive side I'm sure my gooner2 is worth alot less than a gaylander2! I must not get sidetracked, my mantra has always been if it breaks it goes in the bin! Will be a bit annoying but I should be able to go £1/200 into my overdraft with not much fuss, will probably get £100 for it at ASM once I've removed my headunit

Gareth can drive me into work whilst I look for a car, repay the favour when I did it for him for 2 months! Glad I didn't service it before shitefest now

Deffo get the AA card handy. This happened on my Cortina estate which appeared to be driving fine; but shortly after - on a busy Friday afternoon - I pulled off a motorway junction and the clutch pedal went straight to the floor without disengaging the clutch and wouldn't come up again. Great fun blocking the centre lane of the M1/A1 at Sprucefield!

Turned out the return spring had sawed through the retaining loop on the plastic quadrant that regulates the clutch cable adjustment, taking all the tension out of the clutch. Finding the correct replacement was a ball-ache (ended up buying about four of them, all subtly different), and I can't say that fitting it (working upside-down and with no way of seeing what I was doing) was much fun either.

Genuinely hope that it's an easy fix for the Gooner!

LOL!  Still, can't fault the lad for being honest I suppose.

Did anything come of the smashy-window-dog-rescue incident?

You and your big gob! Just checked actually, you reminded me. They don't give a shit apparently. The owner was ticketed/charged (I missed the complete lingo in French) so they're up the creek. Lady plod read up on it whilst I was there and said not to worry. They definitely wouldn't be doing anything and the owner didn't have a leg to stand on. She did say I could get a letter from the dipshits insurance if they claim, but to ref the case number and tell them to do one....... so it all seems good.

I did groan inside when minime mentioned the rock throwing, but officer was cool as according to Mr B it was - a really good shot - when checking the dog incident I asked about this one too. Driver was arrested at home, video evidence from one of the oldies and others meant they had enough to charge him. Female on desk did comment I seem to attract trouble........

Off to keep my head down for a bit.

Here y'go.

I wondered initially about the warning points thing too, but then forgot about it. No persecution, evidently!

I am grumpy right now. Because under my name it has the number of posts I've made, the number of times I've been thanked and the number of warning points I've had. Zero (at the moment)

It's like for me there is an option that I might collect them, whilst nobody else seems to have that feature.

Warning points are available at a reasonable price. The usual Cavcraft Group T&C's apply.

As mentioned you can only see your own warning points, whereas I can see everybody's, and Chaseracer can see into your bedrooms.

Had this on the Saab a couple of years ago. Was the little bleed tower on top of the bell housing for clutch hydraulics - just a perished o-ring but took both me and a garage months to trace.

Hasten to add this was a month or so after I'd had a new Master cylinder, consentric slave and DMF fitted.

I had it on the C5, in fact I got the car cheap with a buggered gear cable because of it. Hooking the pedal up with my foot worked for the two years or so I had the car.

That's plan A tbh, if it ever starts to do it again I'll just help the clutch up. It still worked when slightly down, just had the bite point down a bit lower. Had a gander under the footwell just now and all seems fine, the spring is intact and doing it's job, so I'll leave it alone.

Can dip into my overdraft for an emergency car a bit if I need too, but would rather not. There's nothing on gumtree, not really anything on ebay that won't go really high when it ends, plus nothing that's as big, comfy and wafty as the gooner, nor that will do 50mpg...

I'll worry about that when I'm sat waiting for the AA I think! Might enter a few more roffles here and there though in the mean time if their close enough to not cost a fortune going to fetch the thing

Oh and can I raise a bug about the grammar on that '1 warning points' text? Do we have an autoshite jira project?

Washed the car for what's it worth and then tried to start it. Totally flat. I'd left the stupid camera plugged in...

On charge now but only got an hour till I need to take it to the show.
