Took the Innocenti out for a brief spin around the block earlier in honour of Drive It Day. First time it'd been out in months - in fact first time I'd started it in over a month. It fired up after a bit of cranking, as it always does, but the clutch is now slipping quite badly under hard acceleration (and those of you who have driven the car will attest that hard acceleration in the Innocenti is at best a relative concept). I have no idea why it's suddenly started doing this - there was no sign of slippage last time I drove the car. The clutch makes a squealing noise when it slips, which is not something I've had before. It really is quite odd. I hope it isn't new clutch time as I have no fugging idea what they nicked the clutch off for these.

It will be a Daihatsu clutch shirley? Is there an owners' club/forum to ask advice from?

At least you don't have a slipping automatic....

I shall find out soon, as the drum is coming out to make a firepit before the rest goes up to the tip.

I say the rest, I might try and flog the motor and control panel on ebay. Got some PCBs from the old hob to list too, they're immaculate.

What made me think it was the bearings is that there was a lot of lateral movement in use, and the belt wasn't sitting in the middle of the large pulley on the back of the drum - almost like it had dropped somewhat and moved out of line (like if the bearings go in an alternator and the pulley no longer sits square)

The spider breaking sounds like it would have the same effect.

Most machines have a sealed drum now so you cant change anything, if the bearings or spider go its a new machine, progress, at what cost?

"Hello? we're calling to report that a camera was activated at your premises on Saturday by a silver car..."

"We'll mail you the recording..."

Interesting I thought. Finally may have a lead to the buggers that have robbed us twice I thought.

- Receives grainy images of the premises with the flash of a silver car going past on the road-

The cameras don't activate from the road I thought...

- looks at recording again-

- sees big dog walking up the middle of aforementioned premises at the same time as silver car goes past-

With a security firm like that, I know my assets are safe.

It's ironic really, because when they set up this system I asked if dogs or cats would set it off and they said no. I jokingly suggested that in that case then what if a potential thief were to dress up as a cat or dog... they couldn't answer that.

Know how you feel, today was first day back swimming after 4+ weeks, had Bronchitis.

It's terrible. Constant agony and the pins and needles down left side seem to irritate more. Not eating, not able to get up. So bloody demeaning too.

Heatstroke can fuck off and get a big black dog up itself!

I haven’t felt so rough in years. Sitting here wrapped up and shivering. I could have swam up and down my bed last night I was sweating so much. I thought the saintly Mrs. B was going to drown. Been like it since Thursday and I’m so fed up. Not good at being ill me.

One’s too many, ten’s not enough!

Mostly better now. Back to work tomorrow. Missed two days, self employed, and the weekend. I feel cheated.

Ah bugger, I'd been arranging a hopeful viewing of something to replace the AX and it's sold right under my nose. Seller was a genuine guy too, and I'd got a good feeling about it all.

Bit annoying but I'm sure I've done it to enough people myself.

Oh and that also means I am without a car to the FOTU.

So I have to find something for that!

Rover SD1 starter motor.

Whose fucking stupid idea was it to attach it to the block with two 8 mm allen bolts?

Impossible to get any leverage on the bolts due to their proximity to the sump and block.

My mojo for this car has gone. Completely.

Crap when that happens, a good thrash on a sunny day usually helps but a bit tricky with no starter motor.

Also tricky when it is'nt roadworthy.

Yup is sure is, sometimes it’s best just to leave it for a while in that case. Hardest thing is just walking away sometimes, but sometimes it’s the best thing to do.

My best taxi driver mate has been held up a knife point picking up at the same block of flats I had the problem with the snowflake I had to get psycho with to get paid. I want to go a nd help but I'm fucking miles away in Manchester airport. I feel helpless and have a strong urge to kill. I really don't give a flying fuck at a rolling doughnut if I end up inside over this.

I just had a £2000 bill that I wasn't expecting, and for once, it is neither the dog nor the car that has thrown this at me :(

This big bitch pulled out of a side junction, I saw her from miles away. What makes me grumpy is the Cactus horn. She pulls out, I hit the horn and it sounds like a homersexual clown farting.

All new Citroen’s have the same horn and I guess, it stops you using it in anger.

My C5 horn is surprisingly loud - not in the car where it sounds quite discreet but outside it's a foghorn - and only one of the two work as I buggered the connector a couple of years ago.
