The grumpy thread

There was some road works outside my house earlier and they put a sign right opposite my drive, I was reversing out couldnt see it as it was lower than my boot and clipped it with my rear bumper sending it flying, luckily it looked worse than it was half hour with the polish and the scratches were gone

To expand on yesterday's grump. The bit of the headlight that the spring clip holds onto has broken off. "Permenantly" fixed the bulb in the correct position with electrical tape. The other side still won't budge, looks like somebody has fitted the clip on backwards or something, I'll need to get some pliers in there...

My Rover has acquired a minor dent in the n/s/r door where somebody has opened a white car door onto it.

I wouldn't mind on the Audi, but the Rover has spent the previous 21 years entirely dent free.

Makes me quite cross.

beko, if you forward me your boss's phone number, I'm happy to test his telephone manner AT 03.45 IN THE FUCKING MORNING.

I have some considerable previous experience in this field, hth.

No chance, she's lovely when your not useless (staff not you obv!)

She only does it when standards slip and internally things have been done (training usually) as a last resort.

Im all for it, I had it many years ago and passed the 'test' because I'm at work so will answer the phone with whatever speil they tell me to.

The rot is deep in our place. People trained by idiots who were trained by idiots themselves, no one really giving a shit. Those who do have moved on from customer service to be account managers now.

And there's me in the corner, who will be asked some obscure question that no one has ever heard and mot only be able to answer it but find the long, detailed email I wrote on the subject 7 years ago... Which has been lost in time! Then people will think it's amazing and my head will swell for a bit!

I like my job. Especially now im in the app support bit where I've unofficially been for the past 4 years!

Said scary director is also usually quite nice past her hard shell. When she's drunk she's a fucking riot (and usually relaxes her own expenses rule which is ace!)

Van didn't make reserve again.

Not sure what to do now.

Remove reserve and relist, or second chance the highest bidder. If it's causing you so much grief (as it seems to do) then you're better off without it, even if it means taking a knock on it.

Yeah, rather less than I wanted for it though.

A grump from Saturday. Took my parents out for dinner in Chester as I was up swapping the cars about. I did not know it was race day unfortunately and it really made ladies day at Ascot seem a low key event ( I used to have the house in course Road next to the race course ).

The number of drunk, tattooed women staggering across the road was an eye opener! Literally, if I'd been distracted I'd have collected a few on the bonnet! I parked in the grosvenor multi-storey and had to avoid several packs of ex race goers in the road.

The p'tite France In bridge street is highly recommended and Fred ( owner ) has told us to park on the pavement outside next time I take the 2cv and he'll pay any fine.

You could be describing my office there too.

Accept that it's not worth what you're trying to get for it?

Not helping. Not in the mood.

I honestly don't know if there's a "better" time of year to sell a 305 van but I can't imagine you're keen to keep paying listing fees so you probably need to abandon eBay as a medium.

Tried lobbing it on Autotrader? Free adverts for sub-£1000 cars, you'll get a different audience at least.

Things are only worth what buyers will pay, so I'd say this is correct.

Job interview this morning, didn't get it.

The problem that I have is that - even in the state it's in - a 305 van is supposed to be the holy grail among enthusiasts, of which there are few.
It's a rare commercial vehicle with a diesel engine. I've never tried to disguise how bad it is, because it's bad.

Even with my sights drastically lowered the bids (and therefore "what someone is/was prepared to pay") are all over the place. Top bid last time was £570, buyer pulled out "because of ferries".
Deal done outside eBay, seller pulls out at £500 after I bent over backwards to help him but I couldn't drop everything to let him take the van on a new day after zero notice was given. This meant he was "pissed off."

I would have been happy with £500.
Bloke on the 305 FB group offers £400. I tell him I need to have a think. Go back to him an hour later saying "yes" having taken yet another hit and he isn't interested, it's now £250 or get fucked. I need it to pay a bill and £260 simply isn't enough. I've seen vans in worse states than mine go for double that.

Basically, I'm sick of people and their fickle buying habits. There is no compulsion to complete a sale on eBay because there's no comeback. Ebay needs a rocket up its arse because it's a law unto itself.

See, that's properly shit.

Said my piece now, will shut up.

On the bright side, I've still got my current job. Just sick of it due to shit management.

I can empathise with that.

I had one last Wednesday, got told today I didn't get it.  I suppose I should get around to signing-on... :-(

On the same boat here, too.

I have a grump and perhaps it's because I'm getting old - music.

There's some quite good songs out there in the modern world so I'm far from saying all modern music is shit, but if I hear one more song where the bloke talks about a motherfucking nigga I think I'm going to have a nosebleed.  I get it, you can swear, ooooh, you're so dangerous, ooooh.  Am I supposed to be shocked?

I'm not shocked, my feelings are pity and boredom.  If you're going to make a song, y'know, music and lyrics, do you think you should spend a bit more time trying to find a word that rhymes with "key", other than "key"?  And while we're at it, stop telling me that you're so brilliant.  Confidence can be an attractive quality but arrogance, not so much.  And when you've been around for a while you know not to trust people who tell you what to think about them.  "I'm mad, me, LOL!" or "I'm a caring person".

And for people who tell you they're brilliant, it's like double points on the wanker-ometer.

I like listening to new music, there's a bit of my brain that says I have to so I can hear new, good stuff but honestly it's hard work sometimes.

The thing that pees me off with modern stuff, not all, is the woo woo baby baby , I miss you when you're gone, woe woe woo woo, la la fookin la.

My first question is. Why have they "gone" ? Coz you're a twat ? More than likely.  Or they've nipped down the shops ? or what ?  Pathetic.

Scottish Power cold calling me, I was very polite (especially after an afternoon clearing out a fucking rotten pigeon from the gutter and being fucked about by dreams beds - still waiting for the call back!) and said I didn't do cold calls. She then tried THREE more times to find out who I am with and then had the cheek to sarcastically say 'thanks for the warm response'. I still don't know why I didn't verbally rip her head off and shit down the hole. I must be going soft in my old age.

It was on my bloody mobile to add insult to injury, normally I wouldn't have answered but I thought it was the idiots from Dreams finally getting back to me.

Mo, a dead bird on the bonnet is better than a horses head in the bed. Possibly.

Lol! Never thought of that. Might a 'warning' from some very tiny gangsters. Someone said it was good luck? Or is that when plop on your windscreen?

Have you been involved with caribbean drug lords who look a bit like Yaphet Kotto? Perhaps it's a voodoo thing.

Just has one of my front teeth pulled and I'm now the *proud owner of a denture. I'm not allowed a drink, the denture is fucking uncomfortable and my mouth seems to think that the denture is a lovely glacier mint or similar and I am salivating heavily.

Nevermind I can save up for a bridge...

When you've saved for the bridge, do look into how cost of getting an implant in Europe compares. I've done many holidays this way.

As Des said - get yourself over to Poland and the like..... excellent work and a fraction of the cost. A mate here had over 10K worth of work done for about 25% of the quote(s) from UK and Belgium.
