The grumpy thread

There will be no pictures of Chester with my teeth in as he ate them last night! I wasn't very well yesterday so went sleepies early and this morning mess included chewed up remains of plate.

Just been to the dentist (pre arranged) and she has taken three separate impressions each of which she struggled to get out - apparently my mouth/teeth are a funny shape!

Anyone cut a hole in concrete? I did on Monday night.

I decided that I wanted the leccy supply to enter the opposite end of the garage from where we had put the duct.

The suppliers like the cable to come in to the property deep down, not just through the wall, and told me it must be a 100mm hole.

No problems thinks I. I'll angle down through the concrete floor to come out through the block work just above the foundation.

I borrowed a 115mm core cutter and drill from a pal who I'm sure I saw smirking to himself as he handed it over.

I couldn't start before 8pm because of reasons. After an hour I had travelled about 2 inches into the concrete floor. As I bored deeper, the drum of the cutter kept gripping the sides of the hole. The drill has a clutch so nice stuck, the only way to restart was to pull the cutter out and start again. This had to be done every minute or less.

It had to be completed before the Hydro board appeared in the morning. After boring about 18 inches down, I gave up and started drilling from the outside in. After 6 hours f hanging on to that fucking vibrating bastard, I made the break through.

Never again.

5" core drill through a 10" brick wall. Took me about 3 hours & fuck me, never again!

I've drove Luton 3.5 tonnes in this weather in the past and that's bloody scary so I sort of know your feeling there!

And then the neighbours murdered you...

There aren't any, apart from one who wasn't there as it's his holiday house. I'll save that particular grump for another day.

If you moved that wire out of the way, that would make an ace calendar shot...

That's a pisser, though. Is that the rear window that's gone? Going by the heater elements.

Being too thick to fix a Renault 6 and being told I'm too thick to fix a Renault 6.  I'm this close to calling the scrapyard just to get the little fucker out of my life for good.  I've had enough.

What's wrong with it now?

I thought you had it cracked I've not caught up on your thread yet.

It was a spare tailgate for the ZX that was wedged in firmly, or so I thought, by the shed. Its scrap now as glass is broken and its cracked and broke a chunk of the tailgate off on a corner where it hit the ground.

Fuck knows but it doesn't work because I've done something wrong. It's blowing a gale and raining sideways so I'm disinclined to investigate further than I tried today.  It can sit on the drive and think about what its not done today while I resist the urge to call someone to take the problem away, especially since the new radiator turned up today.

Further to a previous grump:

Not my vehicle, not my fuel and now not my DPF either.

In typical French fashion something completely unrelated materialised last night. Took Van for a small run to try and define hgf or just a bad air lock. It's decided to breath really heavy, smells of oil and the unrelated item to emerge is 4th gear synchro seems to be failing.

It's probably not viable on any level but you can have the gearbox that was in my Berlingo for nothing if the gearbox is gubbed. I think it's the same 'box.

I hope the engine isn't gubbed.

Don't keep beating yourself up over it, isn't there any local shiters who could can come over and help in payment of tea and biscuits?.

It's okay... I just lost my temper and perspective.  I got over myself a few minutes ago.  I'll stick with it because I have to, nobody else wants the sodding thing and I'm too far in now to give up.  I imagine this is what being married feels like.

Not holding much hope, lots of smoke, lots of oil vapour and smells like red hot oil too. Header tank was bubbling away merrily too. I will look into it but for time being it's coming off the road. I'm looking for another job too so plan is to treat it to everything it needs over time.

That sounds ominous but at least you have a backup Citroën.

For least hassle I bet you could pick up a replacement DW8 for next to nothing.

That will probably be the plan. It needs a driveshaft, welding, ready for a couple of tyres, speedo fixing and some other little jobs. I've most of the bits in storage thanks to a shiter but mot due in a month and a bit so it's coming off the road and I'll work my way through it. See it as a project on a quite rare little Van. Still probably be worth the square root of fuck all but that's not the point. It's a great little Van so decided to do it and do it properly. Sorting leaks out etc.

Doris has fucked my fence.  I'm just waiting for the shed to shed its roof (felt).  My Pug 205 was loudly hit by bits of tree at least three times on the way to Southam around midday and a few roads were blocked by fallen trees.  I expected to find a windscreen crack, bodywork dentage or shattered plastic trim around the sunroof when I got to Tesco, but it seems to have survived intact.  I did drive over a small branch which leapt up under ther car.  I'll check the underside later.

Situation critical with the fleet as it was pointed out earlier that I currently have 4 cars taking up space at work.

Anyone want a Saxo vtr engine in a snagged ax shell?

It'd need a different subframe to fit a tu engine I think.

FUCKING EBAY.  I've been looking for a couple of headlights for a 305. Not many about. Those that are  the sellers don't  seem to know what they have.

No info on whether its for a mk1 or a mk2 , or left or right. E.g. markiescarparts when I enquired if they had mk1, mk2 ,lh, rh, the answer I got was DON"T KNOW.  For fucks sake! !

Some saying its for a mk2 and I know its for a mk1.

I did get one the other day, which I collected because it was only up the road. Advertised as a rh. When I got there, turned out to be a lh. Lucky I needed both but I did say to the seller what it really was, and pointed out that I would be really pissed off if I only wanted a rh. Didn't seem bothered until I pointed out that if he had posted it and I had sent it back he would have to pay the postage at 7.50 on a 20quid sale.

If anyone knows of a drivers side light, I'm interested.

GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!! Idiots.

And another thing. Clutch cables from Firstline are the shittiest cables I've ever had.

When the van gets a new lump it will be xud turbo. 1600 8v wouldn't need much modding to fit a tu1 engine bay though I would not have thought....

One of my colleagues was blown over near Buxton, so for safety the whole fleet of 20 or so trucks was told to park up where safe and wait for further instructions. I spent 5 hours in Corley Services on the M6 near Nuneaton. Bit of an over reaction as it wasn't even that windy here tbh.

My pal got a black eye and no other injuries, fortunately.

He wasn't the only one to go over either..
