If I let them step in to resolve in 10 days time I assume the buyer will still need to send it back before I refund them?

Yes, I won't sell on eBay anymore as they are grade one bunglefunts to sellers.

Feeling reasonably grumpy as its hit me that the BX does need a reasonable amount of work. The 1st gear slip is getting on my wick so I guess a whole new clutch will have to be done too now, I'm tempted just to sink 4 figures into getting it done up next month. Really not what I had planned and part of me wants to just give up but I just know I'll regret it if I do.

So the plan is, take it to Cookham, to Forge Garage and get them to assess it, and then let me know what needs priority. And then go from there. I really hope it isn't ruined underneath....

Don't clutches tend to slip in top gear first? It's to do with torque multiplication in the drive train.

Posted

Yes but the massive slipping sound going with it probably isn't normal, neither is the occasional rubber band jerkiness. Oddly (or it might not be odd) it goes away when its warmed up enough, i.e driven more than 10 or so miles.

They all do that sir.

Sounds like the main seal & it's ok when the oil burns off.

My left ankle has decided to hurt all the time. Not much, just a steady dull ache which keeps me awake at night and in a perpetual state of discomfort through the day.

It's exactly what I need right now.

it's also amazing that busses still only accept cash with all this new technology flying about...

Don't get me started on the Republic of London, "Oyster card" ? Fuck off.

Erm...

You know you can use a contactless card on an Oyster card reader, right? No difference in price.

Mo, no - seriously. Luzz your contactless debit card on the plate and it'll read it straight off and open the barrier.

I'm not in London enough to justify an Oyster card so I use the above method instead.

I had four welds to do on the SD1's front wing - then I ran out of wire.

Also if you use contactless on the London transportational network and do some weird multi stop different station route, it waits until 2am and then works out th cheapest fare. Like twice today I got off at one station, had a bit of a walk, and back on another station to continue my journey. I suspect it'll just charge me 1-6 travelcard price.

Cut it off, but think carefully about which end to throw away afterwards :D

After today I'm conflicted as to which end would be best to get rid of!

Got fired today y'see, gross misconduct. Were the last 5 years worth it? Not really. Do I have anything worth continuing with? Not really.

Hmm.

Sorry to hear that captain. Things will turn round. I'm a believer in things happen for a reason. Perhaps this is your time to do what you want to do and make a fresh start

Fuck's sake, captain, I'm sorry.

Any recourse or appeals available to you?

Sorry to hear that Captain, you never know what's round the next corner though so all being well things will turn round for you.

If you don't mind my asking, what is it you do for a living?

That sounds like a pisser, but I wouldn't write yourself off just yet.

Don't be too sad, or the SVM will come round and cheer you up*/buy you a volvo

Sorry to hear that Cpt 70s.   Did you say you had friends in Glasgow and were thinking of heading down there?   Might be worth going for a visit for a few days for a change of scene, get your head straight and scout out a few opportunities?   Glasgow's always been a great time whenever I have been there.   Good luck.

Dislike :-(

That summed it up for me :(

Life looks bleak? Buy a shite car you don't need for less than a ton, live the Autoshite dream!!! Seriously though, hobbies and interests are very important at times of stress, as are friends.

We need more trivial shit in here. Let's see what I can do.

I'm poorly. Second time I've had gut gripe this year, and it's still only January. Still trying to get over The Cold that has been doing the rounds recently, so generally feeling pretty horrible. Loads of work to do as well, not to mention that the poor 2CV needs a clean after its big trip on Tuesday. I don't really have time to be ill this year, due to a pretty packed workload. Of course, I was generally very healthy while I had very little work (or money).
