They only play half of Freebird too. Would rather hear none of it than half. Pointless.

That pisses me off when they do that. It just gets to the awesome bit, them they fade it out. Ruins a drive that does

"Purple Rain" never gets a full airing on radio either, the best part of the song is the bit they cut out!

Arranging my mum's funeral. I fucking hate this. I'm struggling to cope and the hospital aren't making things easier by refusing to issue a death certificate because the doctor who attended to her is off duty for a couple of days. I've spoken and appointed an undertaker based on the fact that he's one of my customers and seems like a nice bloke and he's got a Mercedes hearse and my mum loved my W124. The other local undertaker is a bit of a bellend and has a Vectra hearse and after her experience with her Viva she said she'd never be seen dead in a Vauxhall.

Posted

A Vectra hearse?  How much must you hate someone to inflict that on them?  Feel free to rant and vent all you like, or not, whichever works best for you.

It's a sad situation WTC but i did have to smile at your Vauxhall comment though.

WTC bad stuff, your birthday does seem to be a fateful day, maybe I could recommend a Hunter S Thompson style beans/rampage once the dust has settled?

Perhaps having a second Birthday, like the Queen, would be a better solution.  An auspicious date on which only good things have happened.

No wonder there are so many utterly fucked Bentleys and Rolls Royces about, no one can afford the bills! It is, absolutely ridiculous how much parts for it cost and how much 'tax' you have to pay to get people to work on it.

Talking to Specialist cars ( I worry for their welfare!) and they are quite busy this week, changing the starter motor on some new Audi (Bentley) shit, engine out job which is 20 hours each way!

A Rolls or Bentley doesn't need to cost the earth. I have had mine 18 months now and after spending a grand sorting out the initial faults it has given no trouble at all. Admittedly I don't use it every day but did 450 miles in it last week. Mine is far from perfect and if you want perfect then you will spend a fortune. You can get a perfectly useable and presentable one for 5k and they don't need specialists to work on them just someone who knows what they are doing and can use the internet as all the info on how to work on them is there. The older cars are much better though as the quality started to decline in the 70's. I wish I had kept my '68 Shadow even though it had been stored for 10 years before I bought it all the electric windows and seat motors came back to life.

Was going to use the Puma yesterday, low battery with dials all over the place. It was fine on Saturday.

Stuck it on the trickle charge last night and tried it again this morning.

Battery up to 12.4 volts, turn key, click, click, click sound and no starter motor, meh.

Time to start working out what the fail is.

Check the earth straps. My mates dizzle Focus was draining its battery overnight. Turns out that was the fault.

Don't display "M11 CLOSED J7 to J6" all the way down from Saffron Walden to Harlow (J6) when it's not fucking closed.

I finally decided to fit the new hydraulic pump drive belt on the XM. It was a right old fiddle to get it off & then the new one wouldn't go on. I believe it to be the correct belt maybe the car has the wrong pulley? Had to put the old worn out belt on again.

I used to think Minis were a fiddle to work on!

That organised crime syndicate across the street had the audacity to raise the already way too high price for petrol yet again.

It'll cost me £0.56 more to brim it now.

A car I was going to look at and possibly buy was stolen from the valeting place last night.

Facebook came to the rescue when the seller posted a CCTV image of the feef and the car was found and recovered, albeit with a knackered alloy and buggered driver's door.

Sorry to hear about your mother, WTC. It's the phone call we all dread.

I can see where you're coming from RE Vauxhall, I'm going to put it in my will that I don't want to be taken in a flippin' Vauxhall hearse.

I want to buy a cheap Bentley / Roller and fit Raceland coilovers, rewire it all with a basic kit car loom and sack off all the expensive parts.

So does xtriple...  ;)

Not at all! I was more worried about the comments I made.

This is Autosh!te.

Amid the grief, anger, emptiness, rage, loss and random emotions from a bereavement we have to go through...

...we take an active interest in the make and model of the hearse.

Last year I was traveling northbound on the M5 and all the signs were displaying a message about the closure of the M56 a good 120 miles away.

All the doppey feckers on the road were still slowing down to read every sign.

In 2006, I went to buy a mk2 Cavalier hatchback from a guy in Bedford, we were to meet him at some fishing lakes off the A421. Phoned him up as we approached, and he directed us towards the carpark.  Got to the carpark and there was no sign of a Cavalier, but there was another guy clearing the glass out of the boot of a Rover 200 from a smashed rear window - the vendor then turned up, looked around and declared the Cavalier stolen, as had the Rover driver's rear parcel shelf with speakers.  The Cavalier was never seen again!

Had an email yesterday lunch time asking me to come into the office today. The wording was a bit odd but thought nothing of it. Arrived at the appointed time after dealing with several clients and was promptly told My contract was terminated with immediate effect! No warning,no dismissal letter and no disciplinary process taken place. I said what were the reasons. Reply was we've taken legal advice and will not get into a discussion about it! WTF! CAB said potential wrongful dismissal, but the actual outcome could be for them to re-employ but is it worth going down this route. What a shite day that you can just sack someone for no reason and get away with it.

My condolences WTC, a sad time indeed..............

I was dismissed from care home last year. New manager looked for excuses to get rid of a lot of us who didn't fit her ideal. My disability was bought into it. Disregarded the fact I've been in care work for past two years with disability and its better now but no effect. Sought advice to be told basically the law is in favour of employers not employees. It's a Shit because I struggle to find work anyway

I'm no red robbo but I firmly believe we should all be in some sort of union.

I was never in one before I started my current job but they call all the shots around here.

There is no way you could be dismissed with no explanation.

Agreed. A union can be very useful at times.

Why are they still gritting the roads every night? We haven't had a frost for weeks, and no rain since Saturday so there's no worry about moisture on the road freezing. I want to make use of the Stellar especially given the nice weather, but it's as if they have stockpiles of grit to get rid of!

All of these statements are correct, but I would say that, wouldn't I?  No lawful dismissal can take place without due process:
