Short of something useful to do, clearly.

To be fair, giving them the finger was probably unnecessary.

I have sent them a missive to say that their system is seriously fucked up and I would cancel now if they were not such shysters and will charge me £50 (plus however many days use I've had) even though I'm within the 14 day cooling off period. I HATE insurance companies with a passion.

.

They can't. A cooling off period is a cooling off period, I think they can charge for the days use but they can't charge a fee to cancel.

There's a load of insurance companies that are the cheapest of the lot on comparison sites, but they make most of their money by asking for all kinds of pointless documentation, and then charging shitloads for support phone calls when your documentation "wasn't good enough" and then a £100 admin fee when they cancel your policy after two weeks after all the stuff you sent them got lost in the post.

Probably 50% of customers manage to jump through their hoops and get their insurance £20 cheaper than elsewhere, but the other 50% end up with a cancelled policy after a fortnight.

Going back to the grumpy old gits thing for a mo.....Reckon I will be fucking unbearable time I get to that age, especially if I get forced to drive a 65 plate Honda Jazz and have to sign up for a new one every time it goes in for an oil change.   An old git of my good acquaintance is just such a case - he has a Y reg Fezza in the garage but has been persuaded by his busy-body nose poking family that its "too old" for him to use any more.   Poor old twat.

Some old people are right miserable wankers I find, A few years ago you could at least cut them some slack for fighting in the war but many of the "baby boomer" elderly today have retired on a decent pension, enjoyed all the perks and advances in living standards life has to offer and are still miserable busy body bastards with nothing better to do than moan about other people 24/7. My own Dad is a prime example.

The bastads here have just spent thousand on a putting up 20mph signs everywhere even though the residents voted against it. Yet they didn't have the money to sweep the bloody leaves up last autumn which meant all the drains were blocked by December.

What happened to common sense?

Going to take them over 8 months to rebuild a roundabout near me, and it causes chaos every single day. Of course before they've finished that they'll be lowering the speed limit. Then near work they're spending millions on cycle paths that will get used 4-5 times a day. But of course when it comes to things like mental health or social services they bleat there's no money left because of austerity. Wankers.

And then you are doubly fucked. If a customer cancels a policy - no big deal, but if the insurer cancels the policy for any reason at all then that counts as a "yes" to the questions asked by all insurers when you get a quote..."have you ever had a policy cancelled or declined?" and as soon as you say yes to that, 95% of insurers tell you to sod off and you are stuck paying through the arse for the next 5 years to be covered by a specialist for drunks and other hard to insure types.

Grump.

In fact, fucking fuckitty fucksticks, and then some.

Hyacinth will be going in soon for major surgery, which is going to cost.  Seriously cost.  Who spends this kind of money on a 27 year old Rover, ffs?  Well, obviously, me.  OK, it's going to be tough, but I'll stand it.

Except...

Saab developed a misfire as soon as I filled the tank the other week.  Martin has finally had a look at it and pronounced it needs a coil pack.  He's tried one of the local scrappies but they can't help, so now apparently it's up to me to try the others.  I don't mind that so much, but what I do mind is the alternatives: either bin it, or pay for a new pack, at £400+.  So there's only one course of action open, find a used one to take a chance on.

And then...

Wifey decided that my wallpapering in the dining room was sub-standard (and frankly, it was) so after almost three years of living with it, we bought some more paper and got a pro in to strip what I did.  He's gaily stripping away... and finds damp in the chimney breast, and, bizarrely, the foot of the stairs.  So I've got a stripped room, with furniture in all the wrong places and a load of my models out in the open in the other room to collect dust, and we can't go any further with the decorating until I can get hold of my builder (John The Scarlet Pimpernel) to assess and fix the damp.  Which is going to cost not just an arm and a leg, but several of each.

It all happens at once, doesn't it!

Anyone got a spare coil pack for a 2001 Saab 2.3 turbo?

Big FTP on the MZ

well did have mot this morning, didnt even make it half a mile! frown emoticon was an arse to start, got it to start and it seemed ok,went out on the road and it would go about 200 yards then die completely as if someone had turned the fuel off.had to wait and mess about with the choke etc and eventually it would restart, then do exactly the same, ended up pushing it home. its like its using the fuel in the chamber quicker than it can get it back in.As this bing carb has always been iffy (only ticks over with mixture wound right in) and i think the cables are for the bvf carb as well so not sure its letting the slide drop properly, ive ordered a bvf carb and cables off ebay, hopefully this will sort it!

Once again it's bin day. Once again, it;s blowing a fucking gale! Has God got a downer on me at the mo'? Fucking bins are blowing up and down the road and banging into cars willy-nilly! I have brought in my, my next door neighbours, the blokes two doors up and a chap over the roads bins so far as they were in the road and blocking it.

So sick of this fucking weather!

I did have a chat with the bin guy and express my sympathies to him and his mates. Can't be any fun for them at the moment being out in all this shit wind and rain. Poor buggers.

New rad cap and rad weld?

Failing that changing a rad shouldn't be too bad considering some of the other possibilities (off with it's head etc).

Posted

Don't like rad weld etc for some reason. New rad next month. Till then I'm gonna just watch it

Took the daily into a flood this morning. Didn't take it back out!

The voyager's MOT runs out tomorrow and the abs light ID on. So I have been running about getting parts to get my old megane cabby ready for an MOT tomorrow.

The DVLA. Having refunded (car tax) to the wrong people (when it should have been me) twice, I've written to them with proof and, surprisingly* enough, haven't heard back from them.

Also, having gone through a shit storm lasting weeks and involving loads of behind the scenes grafting, got told today the job involved isn't going to be done now. Nice one. Not.

Some scrote has shot out a big double glazed window at Dad's house. Police have sent him a pamphlet on being a victim of crime. Ta south Birmingham.

I failed my mod 4, I ignored one question... however, I did what I should have done for that question in other questions.

Anyway, not too bothered. Have my class 1 test in a fortnight, which is the one I can't fail.

Do the post want people to use them? Up to 2kg is £2.80, of course my parcel was 2.1kg. The cost? £13.90!!! Bloody stupid, it's gone Hermes
