Were loads of Rover 75's stolen and written off over the weekend? I am getting hideous quotes, more than double im paying on the BMW! I mean WTAF?

£640.00 to insure a car they probably value at about £2.50 with £300 excess. Sod. Off.

I've had a non-friendly quote for my pair of motors too. XM is a month shy of 20 years at renewal, so it looks like Peter James will only quote for it as a modern. And I'm not paying over £400 to insure the pair! So, I'm going to have to go quote-hunting.

I understand your anger, Racing green????? you couldn't race a milkfloat in one, also selling a car as taxed, when will these idiots learn.

you obviously havent driven one then ;-)

Try Sureterm DW, they have my 1998 BMW on a classic policy? I know, however you don't build your NCB but they are by far the cheapest for me currently.

Are there not enough EV car manufacturers to borrow one per week till the XM is 20?

37 euros per month for a land line that is unusable since I have to keep the handset unplugged to prevent the incessant flood of sales calls and an internet connection so slow I cant watch a youtube video at anything higher than 240p without it buffering every few seconds.

MONEY WELL* SPENT.

Courier doom.

Parcel A should have been delivered last Monday. Still not delivered, and the normally ok parcel2go are being twats, and playing the we're waiting on a reply from the courier game. Pay up, it's lost!

Parcel B delivered today. Well the envelope was. They've lost the contents, and then had cheek to get bloke's next door neighbour to sign for it. Not sure if I'll get a payout on this one.

Can't wait till crapmass is over and all the temp drivers get the boot.

I always find I get cheaper quotes on the MG, which is a bugger as I much prefer the 75!

Fucksticks I've bought a car on ebay (pending collection) and it's 8 inches too big to fit in my lockup. I was down there at 7am this morning with my tape measure sizing it up (the garage) and I've definitely fucked up.

Haha, I did that when I got my XJ6. Rented a council lock up, cleaned it up and then the proud moment arrived and the bloody garage doors wouldn't close on it.

What have you purchased?

Posted

One of the few cars that makes the P38 Range Rover look efficient and reliable. I lobbed a bid in thinking "i'll not get it for that". I did.

Ah right, so its you that got it-had it in me watch list.

Lovely looking car. May i suggest you park the 'tina in the boot and use it as a lockup?

I know it'll fit in one of my lock-ups as it's still shorter than my XJR but you have to drive it in at an angle of 32.1 degrees then jack it up onto trolleys and push it over. It takes about 30 minutes to get it in and out, which isn't ideal if you're going to the shops for some milk. My other (empty lockup) is a 60's council affair so set-up for something the maximum size of a Morris Oxford.

He wanted 3 grand for it originally, which seems to be the going rate so I think I got it for a decent price. I just hope it's as good as he's made out in the advert.

Ok bit of a storage problem...........but what a lovely looking thing.

Put it on your drive and just look at it........maybe sit inside on a weekend (sleep in it?) but don't drive it.........this keeps fuel and repair bills manageable.

Looks great in that colour too..shape suits dark.

I hope its not rusty - that paint looks a bastard to match.

On another note, the site is definately getting ideas above it's station - mercs, rolls royce's - all very New Labour me thinks.

You'll be paying £5 to have your tyres filled with nitrogen next.

eleventy, twelvety bonus points for the colour

I was planning to go and get this muther at the weekend but when I called the seller he said "it'd really be good if you could get it tomorrow as I'm back at work after that until Jilember 2017 "

I've quickly arranged a day off, have finally got insurance sorted after frantic phoning around with only a slightly sore arse and I'm off on a fast train* early doors to Carlisle tomorrow to get it.

The seller is picking me up in his "other car", which is always a worrying sign.

Well done Cort16, this looks like the week for accidental purchases.

You didn't expect to win this and I didn't expect my offer on the Delta to be accepted ... Good luck on the collection tomorrow.

Cheers. I didn't even know that Integrale existed until you bought it.

When do you get it?

Posted

It's not an Integrale, it's an HPE HF, 2wd, they share the same engine though ... Sunday is pencilled in for my collection.

I must admit to being slightly anxious as I've only driven LHD on holiday on the wrong side of the road, and never with a gear stick.

Have you got a link for that Merc?

Posted

That Merc is bloody stunning! I bet the interior is gorgeous.

Arse massaging seats apparently.

Here's the ebay link. Once you stop getting into the passengers seat of the Lancia to drive off when you come out the shops you'll be fine.

Four weeks ago a friend of a friend asked me to check his old Astra over to see if it was worth putting in for an MOT.I don't get involved with doing the work just the MOTs.Went through the emissions ok so onto the ramp.My check revealed a petrol leak from a fuel pipe, both rear brakepipes heavily corroded, two flexi-hoses cracked and perished. There was a slight leak from one of these flexis so that plus the corroded pipes I told the guy I wasn't prepared to put the car on the brake rollers. There is a garage nextdoor who quoted for the work that needs doing whilst it was on my ramp (he reminded me today what I'd said about the brake rollers as I've slept since doing this check over).Apparently he quoted 150 to do the job and matey had arranged with him to do the job today.

The chap nextdoor had two MOTs booked in for today one of which was this Astra. So somebody had arranged with somebody else to do a job that was none of my business yet because I'd forgotten Astra-twat (this is how he shall be referred to from now on) thinks I'm some sort of arsehole.I did the MOT and the fuel leak is now a constant drip onto the exhaust when running. There is now a headlight out and also now I've dropped it in the rollers the handbrake has failed on low effort.Took the failure sheet nextdoor and obviously the quote has gone up.Astra-twat's phone is an unknown number so I have to phone my mate to contact him to phone us back.Astra-twat phones me and I'm getting the silent treatment. He's not happy the quote's gone up "you said it was this, you said that, why didn't you check it properly" blah fooking blah.I handed my phone to nextdoor so he could explain why his quote has gone up.He hands me the phone and I'm getting the silent treatment from Astra-twat again because the car isn't ready today. He arranged with nextdoor to do a job that isn't finished so why get arsey with me.I will be telling Astra-twat to fuck off and don't come back tomorrow, after I've been paid ofcourse.

Oh. My. Days.  That Merc is a thing of beauty, no shitty council estate 'private plate' either. If you get bored of it and decide a swap for a SAAB convertible is a better bet, please let me know.
