The grumpy thread

I used to get loads of rejection letters, then I started telling lies on my CV.

Billy, earlier...

Those were the ones I sent to the birds. Oddly enough I've had plenty of rejection from them, too.

Fucking brilliant. Just what I dont need. Insurance renewal on the Sterling has come in. £295 for the same cover, its gone up! What the hell? Plus I need to pay my mate for storage. £100 here, £100 there £100 every bloody where. I can't wait to leave England, its bleeding me dry.

Your fuggin attitude is starting to make me grumpy. At this rate, I'll be bloody glad when you leave! I know things are hard, but it pisses me off when 'England' gets the blame for all of the woes in people's lives. Insurance goes up - deal with it. The best way is to resort to phoning other companies who will no doubt provide cheaper cover. Repeat this every few years.

£295 isn't bad for car insurance and I used to pay £100 a month storage.

You could always try New Zealand where there's no need for insurance and plenty of cheap space.

I somehow don't think England isn't the main problem, in any country you only get what you put into life.

If I got a renewal for £295 I'd be dancing naked through the street with joy. You could always shop about/compare Meerkats etc. for a better quote?

Could be worse, you could try getting a price on a Saab 9000 Carlsson and get 'quoted mental' at £14,000.

Bloody hell, I've had cheaper quotes on an Audi Coupé GT, and I'm 18...

I pay over £450 a year just on my Focus alone, it's got to be insured so you have to just get on with it I'm afraid.

One company wanted 2k for the clio though I resisted the urge to emigrate and eventually found a quote for under 2 hundred.

Clutch ratchet started playing up on the above car yesterday, I have a spare in the glove box that came with the car. I'm sure it will be a fun job.

Theres a simple solution to the OMGIGOTNO£££ENGLANDSUX problem.Rather than haveing a large collection of dead, undesireable cars, scattered around the country in lockups that need paying for every month, get shot of them all and enjoy only being responsible for one.I see it so much on here of people moaning they have no money to do up their cars, and celebrate about having managed to aquire a part thats only slightly less rusty than the one on their car and all it cost was £40 borrowed off someone else, yet they have a fleet of dead cars that they think they can magically restore with little income.Get rid, bank the cash, pick one :-)

Who honestly takes any notice of what this tw@ says? Why is it even on the news?

I quite like him. Behind all the vanity and bluster he's a talented bloke, and probably a genuinely good person.

If enough people agree with me, I suppose that's why he's on the news.

Being fucking skint. EDF will have to do one for their full payment of moneis owed this month...

Insurance is a fucker but then nobody ever sits down and says "Wow, I'm glad the laws of the land forced me to get insurance" when some old dear drives into their car. It's actually a pretty good deal I reckon, I pay £600 for two cars/two drivers (one of these multi-car things), when the good lady had a minor coming-together in a carpark it only scraped the bumper and wing but the repair costs were well over the premium paid. £300 does not get you a lot of labour and bodywork at current rates. So I suppose you could say I'm in credit there.

I've had the silly quotes - £13500 for my Polo G40 through Saga. But it's a necessity so get it done, and if needs be give up a luxury item. People may notice I don't drive anything shite - I can't really afford to once it's taxed and insured, garaged somewhere and whatever. Maybe that will change but I'm not going without electricity or clean clothes to get it.

with my drop in income and vastly increased bills now ive moved out of my parents and in with my girlfriend,i cant afford any car, shite or new,the petrol costs alone going to work and back make it prohibitive, let alone insurance, tax, mot, maintainance, bits etc etc.One of the reasons i now ride a Honda C90 to do the 180 miles a week trip to work.Id rather get cold and wet and be able to occasionally by things for myself and get takeaways etc, than go hungry just so i can get a new sill welded up etc etc

Cheers, thanks for that. Nice one and to everyone who has jumped on the bandwagon.

I'm not that bothered about the insurance rise, it was simply unexpected at a time when my money is low and I have other stuff to pay for which will basically leave me completely potless. This is what my grump was supposed to be getting at.

£295 is not a lot of money for legal cover, but at the moment it is a lot of money to spend in one go. Also, I was not blaming 'England' for my woes, just my current situation.

It's the same shit everywhere you go. Big corporations helping themselves to your money just because you live.

I see every first of the Month what those freeloading bastards think I'm there for.

Why are they doing this?

Because we let them.

Sorry to hear about that Dave. I honestly wish you well for the future. Please keep us updated.

If there is anything we can help with tat collection, please let us know, I'm sure we can pass the car between us to get to yours eventually, or possibly the - DUGONG DELIVERY SERVICE option?

That's a crapper Dave. Where's the car?

Never a truer word said. I learnt this lesson a few years ago when my LR habit got out of hand.

Sorry to hear that, Dave and I hope it is something routine and easily sorted. The 'not driving' bit is almost worse than the concern about your ticker, I imagine.

My 'grump' is completely insignificant in comparison; but I was going to give the autobox on the old Rangie an overdue oil and filter change this weekend as it seems to be shifting less smoothly than normal and at odds with the cold weather; but a quick check on rangerovers.net (AKA 'The Rangie Bible') to see what is involved suggests it is actually an utter pisser of a job and involves dropping out a chassis cross member and section of the exhaust just to get to the filter. Their recommendation - it is worth the 2hrs professional labour just to avoid the hassle invovled!

What a load of old cock and what a daft design.

To all those who replied to my earlier post. Thanks, you cheered me up. (oh no wrong thread! I'll be banned!)

Dave, take it easy and look after yourself. I'm sure it goes without saying but I'm sure all here are wishing you well. Anyway, what shall all the waifs and strays that have gathered here do without you?
