Inconsiderate parking :angry008:

Came home yesterday afternoon to find a visitor to our new neighbours thought it was OK to park, half blocking my drive.

When the silly b***h came out, her excuse was she doesn't like reversing. WTF

It's pretty icy around here. We have a grit box at the end of our street. Being a civic-minded sort, I togged up in my hi-vis and wellies, and went to fire some salt around the place. I'd been out about 5 minutes when I heard the sound of something meaty, accompanied by an autobox that was all over the show, up and down the gears. A Cayenne Turbo slithered into view and then stopped next to me. The fat bastard who was driving it put down the window and said "About time too. And you'd better make sure you do the whole place properly." Red mist descended, and I said "Get out and fucking help, fat bollocks. You could do with the exercise." He just drove off. I can only imagine he thought I was a council worker. What a fartknocker. Still, a good way to impress my new neighbours. Not.

A couple of years nearly everyone on my street was out clearing the snow  as it had come down pretty heavily the night before. One prick who lives at number 20 sat there in his 240Z with the engine running watching everyone clear the snow and grit the road. Eventually when he thought it was safe enough just drove past everyone without a word or acknowledgment.

However karma came back and bit the poncy fucker on the arse.

I've got a another bloody puncture on the Merc. I recon I've had 5 punctures in 18 months and 3 of them have been on the same wheel even though 2 of those punctures ended up with a new tyre being fitted.

I could be the first person ever to get tread on the spare skinny wheel down below legal levels because of the mileage I've done on it.

Skinny? Someone around my way has had a skinny on their Punto so long it is rusty/age weathered ;)

I tell you what it's lethal with it on. If feels normal in a straight line but around a corner at any more then about 4mph is banzia drifto camberwankel oversteer.

I was overtaken on the M5 this week by a Punto with a space-saver on. I wasn't hanging around so this twat definitely wasn't doing "max 60kph" or whatever.

My old Seicento's spare, which had a 60kph sticker on it, was the same size as the standard tyre/wheel. :?

Came out the house yesterday morning running late to find a listing disco. Rear near side tyre flat as a witch's tit with a big nail in it. The BFG All Terrains are almost buggered but I haven't budgeted for a new set - not in January month anyway. Hopefully the puncture can be repaired.

Is it wearing very low profile tyres? Anything below 55% is asking for trouble on rough roads.

yip they're low profile. this time it turned out to be big nail.

Grrrrr ebay mongs why do they send you a best offer and when you counter offer for a tenner dearer saying that it's nearly there just give me a call and we will have a deal. The twats then decline the offer. So that's it I have had enough of the poxy C3 Pluriel it is gonna get broken. I need the engine for a C4 and just need to see 400 out of the rest of the car. So if anyone needs anything for a citroen C3 let me know. It has the hideous semi auto gearbox which works in the unrefined way they were designed for. Hateful little car that I will be glad to see the back of.

My Astra diesel that stopped last Sunday on the M1.  The belt hasn't broken so did have some tension but the bolt on the top pulley was hand tight (good work by Pentagon Vauxhall there).

Is it for the chop?  :-(

Posted

dont normally need to touch the top pulley bolt to do a cambelt on those but it does look like its had a socket on it .

Check the valve clearances*, if none of them are wide you've probably got away with it and it's worth fitting a new belt- my Escort diesel survived a cam belt failure. I think it's probably buggered though.

*if it doesn't have hydraulic tappets.

It had a new belt a bit before I bought it.

The last Astra I had was a £400 shitter but I had the belt done and it lasted me 2 years before it just needed too much stuff doing for the mot but the engine was still ok at 172,000.

This has/had done 163,000 - I should have had the belt done the same when I bought it, live and learn.

I'd not be happy paying a shed load for it fixing tbh.  I've have 18 months out of it so would rather put the cash towards another one (not that I have a car buying budget) and have a new belt/pulleys on that.

I do 70 odd miles a day so need something that won't break down when it feels like it.

It's at my dad's - would he be better off taking the head off to check it seeing as it's not going anywhere as it were?

I've been forced into booking a holiday for £9.95* from the sun newspaper*.

'Laws of shite' broken #5491.

My brother and his missus have just sold their Berlingo.

I offered them my Volvo which is faultless in every way, with MOT til June and tax til May, for 200 quid.

-They declined as they wanted something modern-.

Leave them to it, people like that can't be converted. All the more cheap tat for the likes of us I say!

If they think in the same way as many many people I know, a four year old car with a fortnight's mot to go and some ominous lights on the dashboard is infinitely preferable to a 15 year old car in immaculate condition that has never broken down and has a year's mot.

Even if the four year old shitty car costs 20 times as much as the 15 year old good car.

They're probably the same sort of people who refuse to spend more than a car is worth on repairing it - on the basis that spending 30 times the repair cost on replacing the car with a new one is somehow cheaper and more sensible.

As Dicky says, how can you possibly expect to get through to someone who thinks like that? Just let them cast off the good cars, and be waiting when they do :)

Speed Awareness Course.....yesterday.

... frankly, I'd have scrubbed out the chief constables bog with a toothbrush, against 3points...

Lots of grumpy people, well they were missing Corrie :(

Now, if any northerners get stuck in a 29.5MPH snail tail - around my neck o'the woods - you know who to blame ;)
