Not ideal, Billy, but could be worth a go. If I can't get anything close to home and cheap, I'll give you a shout.

Why the fuck did I post a wanted reply here?

That has made me legitimately* grumpy.

Off to wanted/offered thread.........

Ghosty your complaints are the feeblest yet seen on here, make sure you let us know each time your mum tells you off or theres nowt on the telly wont you.

:-)

I reckon Mr B could earn good* money by setting up in business as a 'Mediation Consultant'

Some of the pointless gas baggery and general bullshit in most of the meetings I have ever had the pleasure** of attending would have been avoided if he had been present.

Now I try not to get involved with politics or posting other forums on here, but feck me Pistonheads is depressing sometimes:

Have all unemployed report at 0830 to do some form of work for the community.

Have a paid manager.

Let them finish at 530pm. They can have help with cv writing and training for 3 hours per day.

If they don't turn up they don't get their vouchers, if they don't take it seriously they don't get vouchers. Vouchers are for food and clothes but not alcohol or cigs etc. prison for people that try to tamper with the system.

Free bus pass for unemployed.

Only when they get less for not working will they want to work.

For mothers they can be housed in a block where qualified careers look after their children between 0830 and 530 if theyre not of school age.

This benefits bill cant continue because theyre dragging the working man down so much that theyre better off than him.

Anyone want to bet this person is on 50k+ a year and wouldn't know what the inside of a Job Centre looked like?

That's basically how eastern bloc societies worked for people 'seeking employment', except they were allowed booze and fags.

Oh dear. Self-righteous idiots do love to dispense misery to others don't they? We need a quote from the forum at idlefoundation.org for a bit of balance perhaps.

Back to the workhouse, then.

What enlightened times we live in.

I'm certainly not in favour of people being paid to sit around and watch Jeremy Kyle all week, but I'm not sure if the thought of people wanting labour camps for the unemployed is hilarious or scary

Just WTF?

Sounds like something from The Daily Mail but the spelling is far worse!

Surely not to be taken seriously!

Don't be alarmed folks. Just more tripe on t'internet!

If you want to read the ramblings of some real nutters, forget PenisHeads - just read the comments section at the end of most articles on any newspaper website. Frightening.

Quite...

Tip for today is to ignore the ramblings of anyone. Just try to be yourself and not to cause any harm or distress to other people. Getting worked up and angry only harms you. Channel all your emotions into the old shitter on your drive! Sermon over.. Lol.

I know a couple of people like the E-KNOB that wrote that FacistHeads message, and they themselves were on the dole for years. All of a sudden they got jobs and are now a paragon of virtue.

Nothing to do with the fact they thought they were going to get their benefits stopped because they reckoned they'd been twigged on the fiddle.

Isn't it just scary the number of people that get all angry and homicidal about a newspaper* headline or similar?

True or not.. Doesn't matter. If its in the papers or on the telly then hey, it's fact. Now we have the Internet anything goes!

The rabble are roused.

I also love the rather quaint notion you could simply walk into Tesco and be offered a job or work for free in the interim. Someone I know is looking for work and applied to be a cleaner just to get some cash in, only to be told straight away she needed a NVQ in it to even be considered!

Posted

I too have applied for cleaning jobs as a tide-me-over sort of thing.  I have never been successful in these applications but the companies did at least have to decency to tell me that I don't have enough experience or, slightly less frequently, that I don't speak the relevant language for their cleaning team.

I no longer apply for cleaning jobs as a result.  I've faced the same barrier with quite a few of the 'menial jobs' variety that pay minimum wage and it's not exactly an easy one to overcome... seems like a lot of effort for very little in the way of reward when all I'm after is 2-8 weeks of reliably paid work.

Interesting...

Today was my last day at my cleaning job that I've had for the past couple few months. I must say itwas one of the better jobs I've had for a long time. No stress, no silly targets, no stupidly heavy lifting, no tin-pot supervisors breathing down your neck, nice hours, long breaks and free secure covered parking. The money wasnt that good but you cant have it all. I doubt the agency will send me anywhere near as decent as that.

One of the other (many) reasons why I'm looking to leave England (for good this time) is mainly because the prospect of me finding permanent job is non existant. I have never had a permanent job, I have always worked for agencies. I have sent off many CVs to many different vacancies that suit my skills profile, 10 years ago I had attended a fair few interviews but in the last 4/5 years I've not been invited to one interview.

I always thought that with agencies, as long as I kept my head down and nose clean, I'd get a permanent contract, but this has never happend. So I have now given up. I am niw merely working wherever to add to my bank account until I can find work away from England.

If I could find a job abroad I'd be on the next plane out (assuming I'm allowed to bring my cat)

I got a cleaning job after being dole scum for a while, unless you are on the fiddle you can't manage on it long term imho.

I'm pretty sure that a large percentage of jobs these days go to people who know someone who knows someone. The Job Centre kicked us in the balls by saying the same thing - cheers.

I had an interview for the cleaning job - the guy had my details but there was a note on it I didn't see from a girl in HR who knew me from working at another company in the same group in the past.  Everyone else's letters and CV's went in a drawer and that was that...

I had a couple of cleaning jobs whilst signing on, all legit too. I struck lucky and met someone who worked for the DHSS and he told me I could work X amount of hours and still sign on, plus I could claim petrol allowance for my car. It was actually a motorbike but they never seemed to twig my ridiculous fuel claims for the 2 mile trip to work, so I had quite a nice touch out of it for quite a while.

Then I got some work doing gardening and was doing this really posh woman's house and getting paid shit loads. One day someone pulled straight out on me on my motorbike and very nearly had me off. I lost it a bit, punched the bonnet of the BMW and started trying to kick all the panels in, then I realised it was the posh woman whose garden I'd been doing. I just sort of sacked myself and never went back.

SWMBO's eldest started a job in a gastropub in the summer. They have havent paid him (or any other staff) for 6 weeks and are using every excuse under the sun to wriggle out of it, he keeps going to work, they keep giving him excuses

looks likes he will be looking for another job shortly, and i will be removing and selling kitchen equipment.

If you can stand the work, you can make REAL money doing gardening/cleaning/mowing/decorating jobs (as Billy almost discovered) simply by working for yourself. Set your own rules, rates etc, if you're any good at all you'll have more work than you can shake a stick at within months. When you're almost too busy, put your rates up and you'll still be turning work away.

All you need is the ability to deal with people well. You can even start off without transport, equipment, products etc.
I've done it. I can have as much time on/off as I like. I have minimal costs and earn double digits profit for every hour I do. Yes, I do pay all my taxes, it's no biggie.
Oh, and I can spend 2 or 3 months every winter in Thailand (not on credit).

Stop telling me you'll buy a thing from me and then don't buy the thing from me.  It's really pissing me off now.  Don't worry, it's nobody on here.  Why does this happen when I've got an actual sensible* use for the money and time to do the work?
