I lovr watching low flying jets in Wales or Scotland, love the noise too. I'm not sure i'd like living with it though. I remember a farmer somewhere painting the roof of his barn with "PISS OFF BIGGLES" However this just attracted more jets!

Likewise. Used to love hearing them then trying to spot them before they disappeared when I was driving round Dolgellau and Bala.

Yep, I love the noise and sight of jet fighters but I guess if it was every day it would be tedious.

We had an early accident..about 1970... where one clipped the lip of the cliff in Glen Tarbet....then the infamous helicopter crash over the Sound of Mull full of the M16 anti IRA personnel round about 1988...and actually the sight of a slow moving Vulcan looking like it was running on diesel was interesting...was waiting for it to land in the loch Cannonball-James Bond style...

I was talking to some blokes who service those wind turbine things and they REALLY hated the RAF. Apparently working on a ladder in the dark in a bendy giant tube isn't much fun without the aid of fighter jets whooshing through and scaring the shit out of you.

My computer. I have sound for Mp3 and video player programmes but no desktop noises and no internet noises, so I can't watch iPlayer and the like. On trying to reinstall sound drivers to attempt to fix the issue, the installer (whichever site I use) crashes. Then Flash crashes. Then my computer goes on a Go Slow and I have to restart. I also have to restart the computer at least once every 24 hours because Flash will crash, new install or not. I can't play computer games at all, not even the most basic ones, because Flash crashes. The mouse double-clicks when I don't want it to and sometimes won't click at all, because it's fucked. The USB ports don't always work.

Everything was fine with this computer until I moved into my parents' gaff, then it cooked it's motherboard because it had filled up with dust and animal hair in a matter of weeks (I clean it out regularly now, never had to before) and ever since I've had nothing but trouble with it. I can just about upload photos and use car forums so that's something, but for everything else its crap. I'll take it back to tech bod mate to fix it again when the Princess is back on the road but I reckon it's going to be new computer time before the year is out. Maybe I'll get a laptop instead.

Better there than half way to Northwich. What's it done (or not done)?

Too much bouncy bouncy in the back seat already ?

To diagnose any problems just connect it to a ËœCharles Babbage analytical engine' via the local telephone exchange and read off the fault codes. "Hello Caller. The fault code you have requested is P0053: Loss of British sovereignty in India"

I know this is hardly news to anyone on here, but the DVLA really are a bunch of useless bastards. They have spelled my name wrong in a variety of different ways on my last 4 or 5 V5s (It's not that hard, I'm not foreign or anything) and being the upstanding citizen, I've actually corrected them on this and kept things in order.

Latest one - I sent the tax off my van for a refund about 7 weeks ago. Today I've just got a letter saying that they can't issue me a refund because they can only pay refunds to the registered keeper.

This letter is addressed to my first name and middle name - they've completely omitted my surname. Quick check of the copy I took of the form I sent to them, and yes - I had filled it in correctly.

Apparently they will "normally only refund from the date they receive a response to this letter" so that's just cost me two months tax. Absolutely fucking useless, the lot of them.

ebay sellers not replying to messages.

On Wednesday I hit BIN on some wheels in Nottingham, hoping to collect them on the way home from work one evening this week. I wanted to get them and fit them to the car before driving over to Chumley. I've messaged the guy twice and have yet to get a response ... I don't think the seller wants my money, I've not paid by paypal, I was going too do cash on collection.

V. frustrating, but some sellers are quite slow. I was badgering some geezer over a bike the other day as I had a fairly limited window where I could collect. He couldn't seem to be arsed answering e-mails or text message and took an age to eventually answer the 'phone. Anyhow I whizzed up to collect a couple of nights ago and you couldn't have met a nicer fella, I think he was just one of those people that didn't rush anything.

Incidentally if I think someone's getting twatty about an item not making what they wanted,I usually pay by Paypal (if it's not too expensive] as it a) generally pisses them off due the fees involved and B) I honestly think it sometimes forces their hand to sell to you.

old cars r shit. I spent the afternoon welding up the big hole in the floor of the sd1 and it rewarded me by conking out about 500 yards from my house. It's not getting fuel so I think the fuel pump's chucked it. I was supposed to be taking it to a show tomorrow. Not anymore!

A minor grump compared to some but I'm still pissed off so what the hell -

Wondering if I should sell my R4. Don't want to but I'm fed up of never getting chance to use it. Wanted to go to Chumley / Arley / Northwich today but as youngest child spent the night being ill (and awake) thats a no go now. Half the weekends through summer I'm working at other shows so hardly ever get chance to get to a show that I actually want to go to.

Doesn't help that I've just seen one of the neighbours rumbling off somewhere in his Mk2 Escort.

I hate children. All they over do is be sick, trash your car and eat.

Posted

Cars are better than children because... you don't get your cars taken off you if you shut them in a garage for months on end.

Plus you can poke them with a screwdriver when they don't do as they're supposed to

Me and engines really do not mix. I bought a scooter yesterday - it was advertised as a non-runner but the price was right. Got it home and been out playing with it this afternoon. It has a spark, compression and fuel - all that should be needed for a two-stroke single to run - but will it fire? Will it bollocks like. I've even tried spraying Easy Start straight into the carb - still not a cough. The starter motor sounds like someone is disembowelling a cat (probably needs stripping and greasing, but it's a PITA to get to) so I've been using the kick start, but even that should be enough to get it at least attempting to start. It's a Honda, too, so no weird Chinese won't-run-for-no-apparent-reason shenanigans should apply here. Arse.

I've had to turn down the chance of being on live TV with my Cortina on BBC breakfast news Tuesday because it's being filmed in Manchester, most annoying (although the thought of me doing a interview on live TV is suicidal.)

Please don't take this as a granny/egg sucking interface, but it's not one of those stupid bloody 'peds that need a working brake light bulb to make the engine start is it? I've seen a couple now (albeit Shin Break Dueto Summer Days Glorious Crash Chinese shit) that refused to start because you have to hold the front brake lever in then fire it up and broken bulb=no worky.
