And I don't understand why people have to get hung up on everything and be offended by everything these days.

Just label everything as “Is this your size?”, on every size and no one can take offence. Might make the queue for the fitting rooms a bit slow mind🙂

Another way to be recognised.

People can't understand that only a handful can be famous the rest of us are just plain old ordinary.

They haven't read the Desiderata and taken it as a creed.

grandparents picasso broke down today

this car

May be an image of car and van

the clutch release baring has been making a very exciting sound all week, and i told them not to drive it

but popping 2 miles down the road to go shopping doesn't count apparently

clutch pedal is rock solid about halfway down and feeling very broken, no chance at all of doing anything with that

anyway he rang me to come and rescue him, bear in mind i live 15 or so miles from them, and 17 ish miles from the breakdown point, and i know their car has a questionable battery

the one thing i said a few times on the phone was if you're sat with the hazards on leave the engine running

once i fought rush hour traffic and got there, he was indeed sat with the hazards on, i noted dim looking hazards and dim headlights on too

great, so sat there in the car with not the best battery with both the hazards on and the headlights on with the engine off......great

anyway set about towing him back home, i tried to start the picasso but nothing just one turn and a click

i said multiple times you are going to have to stand on the brakes to get the car to stop as there is no servo assistance, cue a confused look

i said drive the XM and i'll be in the picasso

"i can't drive it, it's an automatic and i don't know how to"

fine so we set about driving home

100m down the road, stopped at the lights, very very slowly stopped and BANG, rear ended the XM

alright fine, whatever

almost back at their house, had to stop for traffic and unfortunately had to stop in a way that wasn't like an atlantic cruise liner but not fast

no slowing down from him at all

BANG into the XM

BANG again, i couldn't move forward as there was a car infront of me

the grump is, he took his foot off the brake when he said the pedal felt different

anyway, done a good job on their bumper, really not looking too good

XM well had a look, can't really see much at all maybe a few little marks

so yes, that was my day

first time i've ever properly towed, so was really taking car to make it as smooth as possible

in hindsight i think i'd have picked up a solid bar on the way from halfords or somewhere and done it that way

TLDR, helped someone, got rammed up the arse

I think it was Stephen Fry that said "you're offended, so fucking what?"

About time we stopped pandering to these pathetic morons

Can we still eat shortbread?

I'd have stopped helping at that point.  Anyone who displays me any degree of "fuck off, I know better than you so don't give me advice" gets told to shove it.

Social media apes the journalistic media - Outrage Sells?

"If it bleeds, it leads" however, replaced as dead kittens offend.
So may my use of
'bleeds' (men who identify as woman cannot menstruate and may take offence there),
'leads' (PETA will be in on that one)
'it' (gender neutral pronoun is they, apparently, not it - he, she, they?)

So I actually should only say "If ....."?

The normal train goes via / from Middlesbrough.. The North York Moors railway (preservation) , goes from Pickering but stops at Grosmont where it connects with the normal train.

I do know about the NYMR but thought that normal rail traffic was long gone.

Long gone from the coast and Scarborough and the west (discounting NYMR) but as @Metal Guru says still connected to the network at Middlesbrough. I did it once but that's nearly 30 years ago now. No point really trying to get a train to Whitby from the south or west as you have to go north to M'boro to come back down.

About fifty years since I was last on a train but we had free train travel as my dad had worked for LNER.  We even had carpets and a medical kit in the house from Pullman carriages, and LNER stamped on the silverware.

Used to use the train quite a lot.

A couple of years ago I accidentally popped one of the rear driveshafts out of my T6 while doing some suspension work, and I lost a bit of diff oil.

I was having it serviced by a mate a few days later, so I just asked him to top it up. I've got a feeling he didn't, because my 60,000 mile rear diff is whining it's head off all of a sudden.

£5k for a new one. £650 for a mystery ebay one. ffs

Well, I take back my accusations!

Had the rear driveshafts out and the brake calipers off so I could spin the wheels up, and the NSR wheel bearing felt very slightly "gruff".

Replaced that, and the problem is gone.

I have absolutely no idea why my wheel bearing would be worn out after such a short period of time 👀

Came out of coop yesterday and noticed NSR tyre looks a bit flat. Sure enough, 10psi. Bollocks. Banged it up to 50, drove home quick. This morning went out expecting it to be flat, er looks normal? Still at 50psi. Took it off, and no damage.

So looks like I've got a clever cunt let it down but not totally...  Time to turn on parking mode on the dashcam and check all 4 before I drive. Fucks sake.

One of our skanky neighbours round the corner (who last year was throwing McDonald's wrappers from her bedroom window to her garden) has started lobbing rubbish over their fence. It's like fucking ping-pong, I throw it back, next day it's there again. Only trouble (for them) is that it's mostly polystyrene. Yesterday I ground it down as much possible and 'made it snow' in the lazy bastard's garden.

It's not come back over yet.

Just WHY? ( Not your response, which in geniarse)

The ideal combination, would have been one parent in the Coal mine and the other on the railways. Free heat and transportation.

You are the one offended by the name change of consumer product. Who cares?

The old line from Scarborough to Whitby is a cracking bike ride. ( probably best with a mountain bike , it’s gravel mainly , not much tarmac).
