Thank you, I know, but this would include a flight to UK.

Just post them all over to me and I'll change them for you and send them back or credit the cash to a bank account of your choice.

Very low* handling fees!

In all seriousness though.. Is there anyone in the UK who can do this for you?

wood

As for that filler - even I'm not dumb enough to try using wood filler. I have some and the tub states a drying time of two hours. If the tub says two hours, that means my occupation on the 2021 census will be listed as "still waiting for wood filler to dry".

I used good old Stevens body filler, which was dry and sandable in minutes.

1000% Apr lenders.... ANNUAL percentage.

They're meant for people who need a few quid this side of payday, hence the name. Anyone intending on borrowing for more than a month is nuts.

As with a lot of thing (McDonalds rather than cooking for yourself, car hire rather than buying a shitter, a hooker rather than getting a girlfriend) you're paying for convenience and speed. You can apply for these with your phone and have the money same day instead of going to a bank and waiting for a decision.

No doubt people do leg it with the cash so they're high risk, and they have to charge lots to cover the risk.

I think they're missold rather than evil.

Plus, as someone who pretty much only paints with car aerosols, I can't get my head around normal paint. A coat of primer which is overcoatable in 16-24 millennia, but first I have to clean the brush by running it under boiling hydrofluoric acid for a day while a seemingly infinite amount of paint comes out. Then find the brush has still gone rock hard the next day, while the paint itself is not even pretending to dry.

Sod this!

Fuck everything about painting.

I know, I know...waste, environment, kittens etc but I just buy cheap brushes, use them once then bin them. Life is too fucking short......

And yes, I know that cheap brushes = shit finish but generally I am painting garden gate frames and stuff where nobody gives a fuck. If I have to paint something good, I pay some other cunt to do it for me as they will do it better, faster and maybe cheaper by the time I factor in all the brushes i will throw away doing to job and having to get the carpet replaced because i have invariably kicked the pot of paint over.

I sorned my C70 this morning. It asked for my email address to sent confirmation. I'm not exaggerating if I say I've had at least 30 spam emails today. I usually get maybe 1 every couple of days. Fucking sly wankers!

The emails were totally varied too. Like thai hookers to ppi claims and debt consolidation.

A young lad that i'm training at work to do my old job, agreed to work a 12 hour nightshift Saturday night. He left home to go to work, didn't turn up and hasn't been seen since phone turned off.

Work tried to contact him Saturday night,a few times Sunday and today, phone still turned off no offerings on social media.his other half has no idea either.Understandably a little worried as I have been training him since October on and off,he does have some anxiety problems.

Hopefully he is shacked up in a travel lodge with a stunning redhead..

So he turned into work this morning as if nothing had happened. It turns out he has left his girlfriend and 2 young kids to shack up up with the lass across  the road, using his sister as a scapegoat getting her to lie to the girlfriend.I don't think he had told work the full story.

Unfortunately that's not down to me,but as far as i know nothing has been said about it,but it will have been noted on his record.

He seems to think its quite clever and"one for the lads" as he's knocking off the lass over the road and going for a shag tonight then dumping her as he doesn't want her either.  his words not mine.

All sympathy has gone and I think he is a arse.

Sometimes people just aren't worth the concern we show for them.   Chalk that one on the loser side....

Yeah sorry about that M8, I'll be in tomorrow though defo.

ten pieces glued together with wood glue, and then the joints smoothed with filler.

I can do wood but I can't do cars properly.

Wood glue (pva) needs pressure to work, so clamp/vice or nails/screws to hold joint together while it dries, otherwise it won't make a strong joint. Wood joints need as much surface area as possible too, cutting joints gives more friction and more surface for gluing. Two round bits of wood are never going to stay stuck together. Wood filler is the devils work and should be banned. If you need it you've messed up and should start again, it's literally less bother than sorting it out with filler.

Sorry if you know this already. I enjoyed imagining it falling apart though. Sorry.

The body of the cabinet stayed together, because I nailed it in addition to the glue. The frame was too awkward a shape to clamp, and that's where I've gone wrong. I've re-glued it with impact adhesive this time and it seems to have worked.

I painted the rest but it'll need a few coats, and the primer I applied yesterday is still tacky. I had been intending to finish it by the weekend, but my new estimated completion is approx 5 hours after the heat death of the universe.

The problem with woodworking is you can't weld your way out of mistakes, and the stuff is rarely sized accurately, or even straight, fucks sake I've a length of 2'' X 4'' that measures up at 4'' X 2''. And as for painting it, forget everything you know about painting cars, slop as much Dulux on as will stay put.

I've twice ordered parts from Carparts4less, and they've completely ballsed up the order both times, so I avoid them. However, when I spotted that they supplied oil filters for the Invacar for £1.86, I'll admit I was tempted. So I ordered three of them. Order confirmed. Job jobbed. Only their useless IT systems seem to think I've actually only placed the items in my basket and not ordered them, despite receiving an order confirmation, so I keep getting spammed by desperate emails telling me to complete my order. Useless arseholes.

I like painting wood, paint choice is important though.

I usually use water based primer as it dries fast giving me time to flat it off a bit to get rid of brush strokes or roller effects. I prefer oil based gloss though as the water based paint means well but just isn't quite as user friendly. Or shiny.

Have you considered Chalk paint? That's wonderful stuff to use and looks gr8 on furniture

Stupid anti collision system in the rental HRV hurt my neck this evening. As I approached the exit barrier at work, I started to lean out to swipe my access card to exit. However the car decided I should be braking, rather than rolling slowly to the barrier (got this routine well timed) and decided to slam on the brakes. :/

I sort of agree...but disagree. I know the headline figures are pretty meaningless...and if they’re used as intended then the interest is actually quite a realistic amount. But at the same time they’re clearly not intended for 'normal' people, because normal people would generally stick any out of budget expenditure on a credit card, overdraft or get a loan from their bank (which are approved and transferred instantly online these days) Payday loans are geared up for people who they know can’t get those facilities from a normal bank because their credit is shot to shit, and who they expect not to be able to repay it at the end of the month. Then when they don’t, to shaft them with ludicrous late payment charges so once they’re in arrears they'll pretty much never be able to afford to get out of them and it’s a vicious ruinous circle.

I think they’ve been reigned in a lot now and rightly so, but they’re still fucking vultures.

Oh, absolutely - they're intended for people who the banks won't give a loan or a credit card to, and who haven't got a few grand in the bank just in case the washing machine explodes.

So I agree that ramping up the interest rates is a shitty thing to do to the very people that can't afford it, but as a business you need to cover your arse and they do this by making sure they claw as much back as possible as quickly as possible to even out the cases where people make one payment and then disappear from the radar. I don't think any payday loans CEOs are relaxing on the beach in Barbados right now, I'd imagine it's a business strategy fraught with danger.

I'm not sure how a credit union works, whether you'd need to pass financial checks (which sadly many people who take payday loans and buy from Brighthouse wouldn't) but they seem a better option.

But yeah. APR is a rubbish way of comparing interest on short term stuff, but they're forced to display it.

I'm not laughing honest.. I hate these system, at work we never have seatbelts on, were only moving the cars so lucky to get up to 5mph, we have auto doors and everyone has been thrown by bloody auto breaking.
