Definitely a keeper.

Plugs done today but unfortunately I ordered the wrong leads, so having to send them back.

Plugs look like it's running a tad rich, which I knew.

Had it in my head that all the K-series cars were injected...never realised the early ones weren't.

I had a H-plate Metro GTa that had a K14 on a carb. It didn’t half go, i bet the GTi was a right giggle.

Aargh, that's annoying.

I was considering buying this Rover

but my modern policy needs to be less than 25 years old. Cock.

Shame, as it's reasonably priced. In Norfolk if anyone fancies it?

@wuvvum?

On Wednesday this week my next daily will be being collected...

Checklist:

Undesirable? Maybe less so than a pink Metro.

Slow? Most definitely.

Cheap? Yes.

Poor paintwork? Not sure, haven't examined closely.

Rust? Probably.

Availability of spares? Pretty reasonable.

Will it piss the neighbours off? Again, probably less so than a pink Metro!

didn't take long for the Suzuki money to burn a hole in your pocket 🤣

The very early absolute base model Rover 214 came with a manual choke 1.4 K-Series. It was so basic you didn't even get two tone paint.

Yep, would have looked something like this ... I actually prefer it

I had an 89 G plate 214Sli once, it was really nicely screwed together, much better than the equivalent Astra/Escort. A mate at the time had a H plate 414 base, I think from memory it had an 8 valve carbed K series.

I’d love to see who ordered a new car in Saniflow brown though.

So to make a guess: it’s least than 25 years old (P or newer), undesirable, definitely slow, cheap, probably rusty but with decent spares supply.  🤔

A Yaris is a good guess... but as it’s taken I’m going to go for a Rover 25.

I'm gonna say a....non turbo diesel...saxo? Clio? Something of that sort. XUD engined.

I'm going to go one better (or should that be 20 better?) and say Rover 45, since the hatchback version is a very similar shape to the R8 you were looking at before.

Some interesting cars round here. Just saw a Jowett drive by, followed by an Alfa Spider. And these are ones I've spotted...

Excellent! Are you going to make it look like the one you spotted earlier!

Nice! HK reg - bringing it back to its home in Essex.

I have a non-car mate who ran one of these with zero maintenance or F**ks and it lasted for yeeears.

That looks tidy.  Quite rare even when new I should think.  It has a pleasingly square arse but then I speak as a former Volvo 940 wagon owner!
