Think dad had one of these???? Mum can neither confirm or deny, all she said was he had a 16 valve. Nicely narrowed down mum. @outlaw118 can you remember?

Your mother is a clueless bint.

Yep, had one just before Donut-head was born, think he chopped it in for a Rover 420Gsi or something. Which he wrapped round a lamp post on the way home.

Because that one will be just as bad as yours was once you start poking it?

Indeed.

You can't polish a turd. But you can wrap it in glitter.

Indeed! Biggest problem with my one though was more that whoever did try welding it after they poked it last, couldn't weld...

I might have had a fighting chance with that red one.

Classic car prices definitely are falling. Any GT6 that was almost collapsing under its own weight was going for similar to this only a couple of years ago.

£5,900 finish? Yes - that's cheap, almost tempting

Why am I bothering welding and restoring mine again for?

Because I think you get much more pleasure from tinkering/fettling/fully restoring (delete as appropriate) old cars than you do actually driving round in them. You'd be bored stiff if that Midget had just been fine on arrival.

That's ace!

Can imagine it'd be ideal to go all 'George Clarke' and have it done up as a B&B somewhere scenic.

Us discerning* 2T riders used to laugh at these back in the day. They just looked so dull and seemed to be mostly piloted by either the most unfashionable youths, or middle aged blokes with half-mast trousers flapping in the wind.

Bloody spot on, M8.

So heartbreaking these were taken out of service in 2021. I don't give a shit about trains, and that was like the most enticing reason to visit the Isle of Wight (and I imagine for lots of others, too). I do wonder what possible reason was given for getting rid.
