Bit strong, old chap. What if you want to know how many doors it has? You might as well just remove all definitions and refer only to 'cars' and that's it. Body style? Car. Colour? Car. Engine size? Car.

That'll make things easy, eh!

But it's a hatch,tailgate not a door.

Do they have a serving door in a wall?? No it's a serving HATCH.

I've 2 Dr metro,fiesta,Punto etc.

No it isn't.

Nor is it ULEZ or Congestion Charge.  Y is August 82 to July 1983 so in theory it becomes historic status in July 2022 onwards depending on the date of first reg.

Except if it can be shown it was manufactured at an earlier date and agreed by DVLA.  But an July 82 Japanese car was probably not manufactured very long before that date.

My Landcruiser was reg in Feb'84 and Toyota confirmed in left the factory in October 83.

So it is very unlikely it is tax and mot free. Wonder why the vendor said that? 🤔

But the month is irrelevant. If it was made in 1982 it will gain historic tax and MOT status in 2022. If it was made in 1983, it'll happen in 2023.

If it was built in 1981, it would've happened already.

So in that theory my Sigma registered in 96 but built in 93 saves me waiting so long .... Just need to make it survive until then  .... Anyone got a clutch for a 6g72 3.0 V6 kicking about 😕

Thanks for the clarification - very useful.

Tis worth noting that the historic tax and historic MOT exemption are 2 separate things, because there operated by 2 different departments DVLA vs the DVSA

the rolling historic tax rolls forward every finical year, but the MOT exemption happens the moment the Vehicle is in itself 40 years old

so for example although not yet £NIL tax eligible as the financial year is yet to end, a vehicle built on the 5th of November 1981,  is MOT exempt as it is now over physically over 40 years old, so you still have to pay the standard road tax, but you can present a V112 at the post office when doing so instead of having to produce a MOT pass certificate

it one of those little things that a lot of people dont realise! :)
