So the owners Dad says it's HPI clear which means it's never been in an accident.

And the owner of a body shop thought he'd "just paint it"

i call buckshot.

Its been in an accident. unrecorded.

Probably.

This is quite extraordinary - an advert for a car which has very obviously spent a significant amount of time in an actual barn, which doesn't include the words "barn find" in the title. Madness.

s-l1600.jpg

Maybe they knew it was there all the time.

I'm looking for the use of barn stored to come into use.

That would imply cars being stored in barns, which rarely happens, as countless "barn finds" tellingly substantiate.

Shame the inevitable has started with this, they don't actually look too bad standard.

Just needs* a roof rack and some old suitcases/rusty bike lobbed on top so it looks like every other fucking VW of that era.

Z3 with the 2.0 straight six with a whopping 150bhp for £795 bins and no mot. At least it'll make all the good noises.

Will need work corrosion on outer cills. But these are bolt in panels

I was going to take the piss here but it seems this actually true!

Should you find yourself shopping for used, FWD Celicas on Japanese auction sites, you must do your homework in order to avoid disappointment. You'll see most are 2.0 16V but Toyota made a couple of different engines around the same time.

Celica SS-I

- This is the base SS-I with the 3S-FE engine which is literally the same, 130bhp engine from the contemporary Carina E (Corona in Japan). It's probably nice enough, and about 15bhp more than the 1.8 we got in the UK, but obviously not at all sporty. You will see a surprising number of these on ebay.co.uk, usually mis-advertised as "170bhp".

Celica SS-II

-Ignore the body kit and you'll see what is basically the UK spec Celica GT. This the "proper" 3S-GE with 170bhp, which was pretty decent for a mid-90s, 2.0 twink. Notice the higher, 7000rpm red line too.

Celica SS=III

-And this is the later SS-III with the 200bhp "Beams" engine. It also has the later tail lights and projector headlights that Celica peeps get excited about. It might also have such desirable options as an LSD and Toyota's "Super Strut" suspension but I can't tell just from the pictures.

That SS-III is advertised at about £3200 which is the sort of money people seem to be asking for nice UK examples

The bonnet doesn't look right to me, I'd agree it's had an unrecorded front end shunt

That white RiC isn't worth over 5 bags, £2500 maybe, RiCs have a shit fuel injection set up, most have had that ripped out and replaced with a standard carb, fannymould and exhaust, minus cat, it's also the gutless 135 engine that puts out about 55bhp, making it dog slow

To my eye these don't look as if they're any smaller than the Mk1 Golf, is that so?

I expect the seller of this Saxo is an interesting* chap...
