WOOOOOOF! :D

Shepfact: Father Shepherd's 1977 Chrysler Avenger had an H120 engine, although being a non-car person he didn't appreciate it. I suspect it was used by its original owners (Sussex Police) as some sort of A23 pursuit weapon :)

That Sunbeam is the bizo! How the hell does the rear passenger window wind up to that shape, some kind of highly impractical 360 degree spin-cycle I assume?

How could anyone ruin a car as nice as that Capri with those horrific rims? The seller of that deserves to be met with some fist and boot from a right tasty firm of Danny Dyer's choice behind the Cock & Bastard Arms late one night.

I thought the top half of my glasses had spazzed over when I saw this car but it must be a new way of photographing in that there Southend

Nah Billy, he's just taken the shot in Instagram. It has this spazzy tilt shift effect you can apply to your photos if you feel the need.

Kids: do NOT wake up pissed in the shadow of an old factory, then colour the roof and bonnet of your car in with a felt pen. You are NOT L.S Fucking Lowry.

Did all Rapiers look like this at the back?

That's not as pleasing to the eye as I remember them.

Still would though.

I get the feeling the vendor of this laughably awful pile of wank has probably spent the last fifteen years necking disco biscuits/Mick Mills. This would explain the photographs which were clearly taken with a 1940's big fish, little fish, cardboard box brownie camera.

*Edit: Rapiers are mega fit.

Thanks Wilco, thought not.

I love that Bentley. Will look well fly when painted. If I win the lottery in the next few days its coming here as my van for carrying bikes around.

Posted

Youse are all on drugs, that scrote van is vile, although I may be too young to appreciate it.

I'd lob a 383 in that gold Rapier though, and create some kind of vile minature Barracuda.

Posted

Have to say, not a big fan of the van either. Not least because it will probably sell for more than the value of Chris Evans' entire Ferrari collection.

I'd be interested if anyone knows the story behind why Rootes/Chrysler decided to give probably the best-looking car it ever made the worst arse enhancement imaginable by swapping a perfectly decent-looking boot lid for an utterly shit one that just looks like it's been in an accident.

Paykan Hunter?

I think only the H120's had that bootlid.

One of the last made as production ended in 1976.

Those fuggin' Rapers are UGGERS anyway regardless of which bootlid they have (although mustard mitt I was not aware of the indented one before today), I dunno why people get so worked up about them on here as they are a terribly proportioned, blandly detailed half-baked spastic noncebucket of a car. Alright, maybe not that bad but I don't see the appeal myself. And we all know what great taste I have in cars :?

On the other hand, that Bentley van (colour/ interior/ checkerplate/ external hinges aside) is massively class and would look "pukka pies" with a proper paint job. Nice royal blue with gold lettering for Bentley Service Department maybe?

Quite agree, my old man was a Rootes guy, had these:

Singer Chamois

Alpine Mk1,

SuperMinx

Alpine Mk2

Rapier

They nearly cost him his bird/marriage, as Mum got sick of him breaking down on the way to their dates/life. The last two were family cars, I should dig up some photos.

The Rapier was the most rubbish; massive, overweight, underpowered - and bright yellow. He bought a Mazda 818 after. - Sell out

I just tried that and it just seems to make the background blurry, it's not really a tilt shift effect (even though thats what they call it)

WOOOOOF! Indeed.

Not sure about the H120 Avenger. Avengers used entirely different engines to the Arrow range, though if it was a factory 'hot' job, I s'pose they've got the resources to build what they like. Would be easier to stick a GT or Tiger twin-carb lump in though.

The car drives and gives a very good performance. It has a top speed of 145 mph, a 0-60 mph in 7.6 seconds. All this whilst returning a combined fuel consumption of around 27 mpg.

My 5 year older XJ8 LWB (4.0) does the same MPG on much better performance, what price progress?

I like this. Next time someone on here asks about a 4x4 for the winter we need to make sure they buy it.

The tax is free and it is a mot exempt historic military vehicle. Mechanicaly the truck is in good condition and if you were felling brave it could be driven home.

5 bids from someone with zero feedback bumped it up quite a bit
