Early series 1 Citroen cx. I hope it’s rust free?

French, wasn’t the 2cv the egg carrier.

And saw this the other day, beautiful thing. Well bought.

It was indeed.sure this would do an equally fine job....wearing a tall hat may be a problem though.

Wafty and weird at the same time...........by the good auspices of Mr Fandango of this very parish.............

Gorgeous! The same colours as my old Pallas. Almost twins aside from the mirrors.

Wishing you lots of luck. Such wonderful cars to drive and stare at.

And just turned 40, so none of that tax/MOT malarkey......it's on Irish plates, will it still have to be MOT'd as part of UK registration process?

That is going to be the best thing ever. I remember being a passenger in a CX, it was quite memorable.

C matic for added 'shite points.........

Oh god! Do you know what you’re getting into?

I’m not being a franco killjoy, as someone who’d have a rust free cx as a daily car tomorrow, but is the gearbox oil still available?

Edit - my first car was a 2cv, my second a (manual) CX Pallas. How’s that for a culture leap!

I think Total T is still available from the Citroën car club.  I wasn't a huge fan of the C-matic to be honest, but it definitely adds an extra je ne sais quoi to what is already a fascinating vehicle.

Excellent purchase!

It is.......and there's a green fluid pervert lurking in Maidstone, just up the road from me where I can get it fettled, if need be.First thing it's going to get is comprehensive rust treatment..........

Great then, enjoy the experience! I did have a few spares left, but managed to give them away at last year’s GSA rally.

If you’re new to CXs watch out for a leaky de-aeration chamber ( black bottle thing next to the reservoir). It was £4.50 last time I bought one, but I doubt citron sell them now.

I don’t think that year has a problem with oil pressure switches but they’re not a bad glove box spare for £5.

And if the heater fan stops working it’s either the resistor pack in the air intake trunking or a break in the wires under the central console below the aircraft style levers.

Good luck, I’m envious!
