And on to the next problem: Getting tyres off rims.

Now the DS is excellent for splitting the bead from the rim, just put the tyre under the car and drop the suspension, but I couldn't get the bead over the rim even with an eight foot scaffold pole over the tyre lever, just got a buggered tyre lever. Very helpfully the u-tube clips I have found seem to skip the actual getting the bead over the rim. Is there a technique that I have missed? How does Mr Boll do it? :)

Looks like I'm going to need to embark on an EPIC mission to collect a windscreen for my Capri from Chorley.

Do i carry it outside face down, (so it looks like a flattened u viewed from the side) or t'other way; so it's resting on it's curved edges.....

I'm thinking option one.....

Do they (DS rims) have a bigger dish on one side of the wheel compared to the other? If so try taking them off from the shallow side.

Just changed the brake master cylinder on the nova, turned out the old one was mullered. However, the brake pipe unions on the old one are 10mm and 12mm, the new one has two 10mm ones. Aside from changing the whole brake pipe for one with a smaller union, is there anything I can do to get the 12mm union to fit the 10mm fitment? I haven't seen any adaptors for sale unless I have looked in the wrong places.

Outlaw, I'm not sure if option 1 or 2 is best but I'd be nicking the cushions off the sofa or something similar to put under it, maybe option 2 ( so n rather than u ) but supported in the centre with a big cushion.

No its a petrol turbo, its all mid range, sure it was a vxr? or even trying?

They are irritatingly quick. In a straight line. There's plenty of cheap shit that could waste one though, at a tenth of the cost.

They tend to be driven by young lads who learned in a one litre Corsa, know what they like and like what they know and have fond memories of their first car. Then the day comes when they've found themselves in their first well paid job. Net result : Too much money spunked on what is still a Corsa, and said young lad soon twats the poor car off the road when their talent runs out. Or the car can't be arsed with corners, whichever comes first. This is normally after they've pissed off all and sundry trying to prove that they have THE FASTEST CAR IN THE WORLD, when in fact the majority of folk couldn't give a flying fuck.

Each to their own. I'd have loved to have seen that little episode.

Step 1 Clingfilm

Step 2 Get some of that pipe lagging, the foam type with a lengthways cut and stick that on all the way round the edge with gaffer tape.

Step 3 Do not drop :)

I came up against one in the Rover of Doom on the A11 a couple of months ago (when the Rover was still running properly). It left the Rover for dead from about 80-120, then it got to a gradual bend and almost left the road sideways. So my experience of them matches yours.

Would have been interesting to come up against it in the Stagea though.

Corsas always have been evil-handling little shits.

I nearly ended up in someone's garden in one after jumping straight out my Clio into one and failing to make it round a corner the Clio did every day without a care in the world. Hateful little cars, no wonder kids are always chucking them into the scenery.

Are naturally aspirated Xantia diesels unspeakably grim? Thinking about buying one.

I drove a n/a Dispatch van for a few miles and that was ok, and the n/a XUD goes really well in smaller cars.

I bought it. It is quite slow but you can make good progress in it, especially cross country, refusing to slow down for corners, the ride and handling are superb.

Sits at 80MPH happily enough on the motorway. It would be fairly quiet but there's a wheel or drive shaft bearing humming away.
