Same difference - bang out of order and no fun. I realise I am in a minority, there's no i in team and it's not all about me etc so I will shut up and sod off now.

Google translate has a feature where you can convert English into Warrenspeak. This will show the page with its original title but as an aside it will also translate Cavcraft into "Twat Who Sold Me A Laguna 2"

Yes, but the windscreen wiper switch was an added bonus for you!

Tell me - am I going to get utterly shafted, tax-wise, on a 2003 Subaru Forester 2.0 Turbo?

Snip

Also - if I were to view it, is there anything I really need to know about these? Mrs DC's horsey set loves them as being comfy and bombproof, that's why she suggested one. I know they're a bit thirsty, but I don't do many miles so that's not a massive concern.

I don't often post here, you lot are so much more entertaining than I could ever be.

Buuuut... I've been running a N/A version of this for four and a half years now, it's just gone through an MoT fault free apart from advisories on tyres and brake pedal rubber.  And that's the fourth MoT in a row where it's only cost me the price of the test. I've never had a car go through one test fault free let alone four.

Mine's mow on 85,000 miles, bought at 50,000 and apart from fuel (lots, <30mpg), tyres and oil changes I've spent almost FA. Drop links (£75) and a wheel bearing (£125) are the only other expenses so far.

My maths figures that the tax at more than £300 and fuel at loads is balanced out by the other running costs. Probably. It's also a laugh to drive, I bet the XT is even more so.

I really hope I haven't jinxed it!

Why when you see a statue of the great Jim Clark is he always depicted as a racing driver? Why are there no statues of him, say, more than wrist-deep into a blackface ewe during a difficult twin-lamb lambing, for example? His farming background is still important.

I appreciate the likes and messages I've received over the last couple of days over this but can we put this to bed now? Both myself and admin don't want any of us to have a meltdown over a title. How about a compromise where I'll name the thread Ask A Fellow Shiter A Question? Then everybody has won?

Sounds like a plan :-)

We'll have no stupid questions here, thank you very much :-P

I only ask stupid questions.  No genuinely, I'm new to this shiteing malarkey.  All my questions are bound to be stupid and have been asked before.

Cavcraft has been a moderator on here for as long as I've been here, with some breaks, and chaseracer also I think.

When I joined, the only mods IIRC were Billy and Trigger (whose efforts have not been forgotten).

As I remember Chaseracer has been a mod since Trigger stepped down as modding was stressing him out (this was around the time of regular server issues, and problems with Breadbanned72 and Daveb47).

Why did BMC BL Austinshite call the Maxi " Maxi", when it wasn't their largest car?

Wiki gives the answer , to pay homage to the Mini  ten years earlier

It was my fault. It was meant to be tongue in cheek and not cause a shitstorm.

I apologise unreservedly for starting it. Wish I hadn't now...

So who's been moving the Kitchen utensils again?!

A compromise was reached with Mr Claim. Hopefully we can all move on now? This morning we've had someone actually report the thread specifically to ask why the title had been changed.

Hmm.  Interesting ole can of worms that one.  As long as there's somewhere I can ask a question as a relative novice (and not get immediately flamed like fuck by the experienced spannerist mob - "just fucking fix it"), I'll be happy lurking away.

That 323 of Mr Leyland's really was steal of century eh!

More of that please.

Carry on.

Chris.

I concur. Ideas were floated between myself and the guvnors and we thought this was a good title. I hope you all agree. I asked for admin to change to this title as I was filling up with diesel in Liverpool and was on my mobile.

Yes I know I can exit Tapatalk and use full site on my mobile to edit title but I was lazy and asked mods to do it for me. They earn enough so they can work for it.

Will my car pass an MOT with only the drivers seat in? I've taken the passenger and rear seat out for cleaning and I'm planning to MOT the thing in the next couple days.

What's the consensus on the MG ZS and associated 45?

Are the diesels any good? I'd like a V6, but it with the mileage it would cover, the fuel might cripple me.

Just suddenly got the horn for one based on how much I like my elderly 216 auto, that and a manual ZS could a nice fleet make. I am however the least decisive individual on earth and this fleeting idea will soon be lost to the sands of time.

Oui*.

Yes as long as they are removed and not just plonked in the back, however you may get an advisory if tester wants to cover their back.

Doesn't there have to be a seat if there is a seatbelt present?

We used to get told to put all 7 seats upright in the D3 as the belts for the back 2 were "on display "

Usually the other way around (belt needed if seat fitted) but I've never heard of having to have a seat if the belt is on display. I've a 7-seat D2 and a 7-seat Merc S210 and never had this even advised before, never mind a fail.

Edit: I think this falls under the "must be tested as presented" rule. If the seat is folded away, then it's not a testable item. Same is true if you leave a kiddie seat fitted.. the belt can't then be tested as the MOT tester is not allowed to dismantle/fiddle at all.

No.

I went thorough this when I completely removed the rear seats from a Skoda to use as a "van" but left the seat belts to strap things down as the local MOT bloke said no problems. Passed 5 years MOTs with advisory like "no rear seat present"

Do any of you worry about health and safety when working on old chod? I'm not just talking about axle stands and having a fire extinguisher handy but stuff like asbestos brake linings and using old two pack cellulose acrylic paint?
