I'm just trying to visualise the meeting the Citroen engineers had where they decided to put square holes on a rim. :|

Yes, it baffles me too. A hexagon would have made more sense as that is the shape of the bar used to position the wheel on the car.

In case you're wondering why they give you a bar like that, it is a multipurpose jobby. It can also used as a crank handle when combined with the wheel spanner. Pokes through a hole in the front number plate to connect with the gearbox (which is in front of the engine). Only on mine it doesn't because it's got a five speed box.

Looks very much like a CZ to me. they were pretty bloody awful things, an MZ (whilst not exactly the Rolls Royce of motorcycles) is a far better bet.

Isn't the square hole to accept a cage nut for bolting a hubcap on?

The bike is a CZ125 - you can get round the no key by using a 4" nail instead - pushing the key into the hole connects the ignition contacts, you only need to turn the key if you want lights.

If you want a learner bike, I'd say that a czech communist built two stroke with a strange gearchange and brakes you wouldn't want on a bicycle is 100% the autoshite choice.

Your bike's a CZ 125 alright. Possibly a 'Sport'. I've got one just like it out the back (and in the back hall cupboard/loft/who knows where). I actually have the keys for mine - if I can find the time I'll post a pic, you won't even believe it's a key. It looks exactly like a TRS jack on a guitar lead, with a tag on one end  .

If you do decide to get it, parts are no problem (here's one), and they're designed to be worked on with an adjustable wrench and some fence wire. Maintenance pop fact: the end of the silencer unscrews, so you can take the core out and decoke it, by taking it to some waste ground and setting fire to it, with petrol. Paraphrased from the manual!

Is it possible to use one of these to apply Waxoyl or similar to cars?

If so, what are the results like?

How does my T25 jack work?

looks like this but the arm that goes in the jacking point moves so when it is as the top of the jack the van is barely off the ground. I think i must be doing it wrong. \

They don't get the van mega high, just enough to change a wheel. To be fair though, the suspension on them is that high anyway you can do most stuff with jacking it up.

I've got a load of scrap to weigh in, a van we've cut into pieces and some other steel stuff. It's all metal though, theres no plastic or other bollocks bolted to it (apart from some dampers)

Should we be getting more per ton than if we were just weighing a car in, seats and all?

Sorted scrap shoud be worth considerably more, this is where the pikeys do well with the stuff they steal, having the space, the child labour and someone elses land to leave the resultant piles of crap behind. I've chopped up a couple of cars and taken the lot to a nearby metal dealers in the back of a van, didn't seem to get much for it, probably more hassle than it's worth.

You'll love this one, I'm almost ashamed to ask...

I don't have a diary for this year. Can someone tell me the dates for Easter please? 2012 and 2013 if possible.

Posted

Whatever they are here (and I'm sure there's sites having all the gory details, including holy Fridays and whatnot), they're probably different from there because, as you might know, the Orthodox Easter Sunday is calculated using a formula that's different from the one used for the Catholic/Protestant one.

Posted

I hadn't thought of that, thanks Luxo; it'll only matter for this year though (and in truth, won't matter much) as next year we'll be in Barrow.

For 2012, yes, many thanks. Seems my birthday falls on Easter Monday. :D Now for 2013 I need UK dates...... anyone?

Easter Sunday is 31st March next year.

Does anything bad happen when you overfill an engine by about .7 litres of oil?

I don't know. But I do know that if you accidentally pour about 2 litres of antifreeze/coolant into the oil filler of a Mercedes Atego, nothing bad happens for at least the next 280km.

Another Rover/MG HGF question - if it's had the HG done, what are the chances of it going again?

Depends, are you taking it straight to the scrappers?

Think I've asked this before but couldn't find it on here sorry:

Just outside Worksop there's a nice 'new' junction onto the A1. Heading towards Lincoln the junction is easy to use but coming back they've blocked it off in the 'old' place and my steam powered shat nav keeps telling me to turn off where there isn't a turn off.

How do I get off the bypass and into Worksop please?
