Porsche 944 - kollected

That looks amazing in the pictures but make sure you check it over closely.

Price is good though.I sold mine in 2014 for £2750 with a years MOT, it resurfaced last year with no MOT and an MOT fail list showing more rust than the Bismark for £5k

I spotted a new Mahle fuel filter for one in the garage the other night, not sure what else there is.

Agreed on not worrying about the HPI thing-my M5 was a Cat C, saying that I had pics of it post accident and knew what had been done to it.

The Bismarck isn’t rusty though. Probably a Cat B.

I’d keep the plate, it’s not offensive. Nice spec with colour and ‘loys.

Well boughted fella…… it does look a cracker. Looking forward to the tinkerings with this. I've never owned one - sad to say - it is on 'the list' - but the only one I've looked at was catastrophically destroyed by another test pilot earlier in the morning I was en route to view/purchase..... fate perhaps?

Interior looks well sorted too - a great place to be.

Chodspeed and clear roads good sir.

I was driving to the station this morning and just carried on and drove to work.

Looking forward to hooning it over the tops on the way home tonight.

Should be fun in the forecasted snow ;)

Porsches. V8 Audi's. V8 Bmw's.

It getting like a netto version of pistonheads on here. We'll be discussing "heel and toeing" next.

That porsche is fit.

Strictly final tomorrow for all you heel and toe fans

Sorry for the radio silence. Car boughted. I paid absolutely no attention to any of the advice everyone gave me. The sill ends are a bit rough at the bottom of the wing but not too bad that I wimped out and I forgot to check the tyres.

Clutch good I think, handbrake shit. Passenger window needs assistance on the way up too

Mechanically its great. Scarily fast on the motorway when i put my foot down. Not really had the guts on other roads yet as I'm finding my feet but even when I think I'm going slow when I check the speed I'm actually going really fast.

Obligatory petrol station shot

Absolutely gorgeous, a real poster car!

As a kid growing up in the 80's, one of my neighbours had one just like this but in black. Used to let me sit in it and make car noises.

That looks well fit, cracking job there.

RE: Number Plate, selling it on my assist in funding future repairs.

Well bought.

Lose the plate because they always look crap and save some pennies so when it comes time to do the wings and sills you can do them properly rather that snot yet another one back together for a few more years.

I love 944s, me.

If you ask Mr_Imp nicely he might let you sit in this one and make car noises ;)

Is the s2 body changes effectively the s1 + turbo front end?

Yes, I was told that you can fit a later air dam/indicators/fog-lights to an early car.

The rear diffuser was an option from about 86/87 but stock on turbo/S2

You may be needing a pair of red braces to hold your trousers up and a pair of Christopher Biggins-style specs. Can't help with the brick mobile phone, unfortunately.

Well bought mister. They are lovely looking cars and I would imagine going one way price wise.

I’d keep the plate,

Me too, but if you really want rid.

Any chance of first refusal.

That looks truly beautiful and I’m well jealous, is that Porsche body kit standard on a 944 as it looks fabulous with it on as it gives it a real 80s look.

I can’t see how you could go wrong for the money as it looks a real straight car and nice low mileage as well although Id like a metallic brown or black one but I imagine resale silver is the colour to have and I think come next summer the prices of 944s will be way out the price range of most.

Any plans apart from using it?

Bridge spoliier maybe?  …. I would

I won't ask for stock tips, any broker who can't afford one of those squished beetle things isn't any good at it... :D

After spending friggin' ages sat in traffic coming out of Leeds tonight (I don't drive in often but when I do it's never been that bad), however I finally got onto some open road.

Great fun, did a couple overtakes that resulted in people flashing their lights at me, I assume to congratulate me on being able to overtake in a safe and considerate manner.

I then got onto some proper twist back roads and started really enjoying myself. I'm still very careful as it really is a lot more powerful than owt I've had before and I obviously need to get to grips with it without overdoing it, as don't want a repeat of the GT6/I'm suddenly going backwards!!/fence incident.

Imp Jr fucking loves it. Hes not been out in it yet but has sat in it.

I need to go and get the Jag from where I left it and get his seat out to hope the fits in this too so that I don't have to buy another. Mrs Imp is still FUCKING OBSESSED about his leg room. She can't go more than 20 minutes without bringing it up again. ITS FUCKING FINE WOMAN.

Plans for the car? Use it a bit but more pressing on my mind is what DAFUK am I going to do with all my other cars. I'm gonna start another thread on that.

I did notice that the diff seems to whine a bit from cold. Is it a TADTS or not? Might check the history or change the diff oil anyhow.

It still looks fucking amazing though.

Top work Mr Imp!

I could spend hours every day watching Porsche videos on YouTube at the minute.

Actually, I think a few days this week I might have managed to.

Posted

I think all of mine had varying degrees of noise from the gearbox. Give it an oil change and add some molyslip if it annoys you

in order to settle a debate about rear passenger legroom, I climbed into the back of mine and pulled the drivers seat back into position - there you go mrs gm, plenty of room, ha ! now, how the fuck do I get out again ? that story was trotted out at any opportunity for ages. should be fine for kids though

The seat cushion is about an angstrom thick and it's impossible to hold your head in an upright position unless the sunroof is open...

Scotty's kid looks small enough to have plenty of room though

I just started re-reading this thread from the beginning to understand how it went from me buying a bottle of Vino Collapso from the Co-Op last Sunday to spunking £5k on a car on Thursday.

All seems quite reasonable and above board. Carry on, as you were.

Congrats to your new Porsche! There's absolutely nothing wrong going on in this thread! Having 6 (?) cars is perfectly fine, I swear. :?

just the one ? I'd had about 8 pints and was well onto the rums when I bought mine :) no wonder I didn't remember the next day (I bought it off the mate I was out on the piss with, the sneaky fucker)

Well bought sir.

I've always loved 944s and very nearly bought one 18 years ago but got a steal of a bargain on a 928SE that I couldn't resist, which I still have.

I wouldn't worry about the special Porsche N rated tyres. They are "special" versions of normal tyres that may or may not have had tweaks to the compound/carcass, and a consequent massive inflation in price. Possibly worthwhile if you are changing the boots on a current model GT3 (which would N4) but not on a '90 944. Tyre technology has moved on so much that a brand new (not old stock) 1991 tyre would be worse than todays Linglong ditchfinders.

On 16" D90s I doubt you will find any of the tyre manufacturers making Porsche N rated tyres anymore. I would go with one step down from premium tyres - e.g. Toyo / Falken , unless you can find a good deal at somewhere like Costco with 4 for the price of 3 on Michelins.

FWIW my 928s are currently running on Yoko AD08R (semi slick road legal track tyre) and Hankook Ventus Evo S2 - both on 18" wheels now as getting 16" tyres in 928 sizes is nigh impossible in Aus.
