egg Posted July 21, 2019 Posted July 21, 2019 A few more thoughts, driving on the Buckingham Road out of Aylesbury at 8am on a Saturday morning is good fun - even in an under powered Mondeo. Lots of curves, good visibility etc. It is also good to take a car to a show where you get appreciative comments about your car and can chat with like minded people - i.e. at my local show it was more 'what is that doing here?'. I was also struck at how there are so many daft people in this country who spend time and money on unfashionable vehicles (that aren't all even on this forum!). Even the few 'ringers' (stuff that was too modern/flash) didn't really grate. Although I think we collectively drew the line at the Mercedes A-Class... Someone took a couple of pics of me leaving the show which are nice to have. Hope to be back next year, and will try and make a whole weekend of it. bramz7 Posted July 21, 2019 Posted July 21, 2019 My aim (and my friends aim) is to get the AX to the show next year. 12 months seems like ample time to get that done.... brownnova, Jerzy Woking, Wingz123 and 3 others 6

Would be perfect car for that That A class was pretty clean to be honest - I thought it was orange but mrs thought it was red.....ami right/wrong?
SierraMikeHotel Posted July 21, 2019 Posted July 21, 2019 Sorry I missed you Egg, and yes that road was good fun at 8am on a Sunday morning too!I don't usually get to give my car any beans because there's usually a nervous greyhound in the boot... egg 1
wuvvum Posted July 21, 2019 Posted July 21, 2019 Just given the Renault its post-trip check over (was a bit late when I got home last night). Coolant is still on the max mark, oil about 2mm below. Well pleased with that. Rubber mallet also turned out to be surplus to requirements - I didn't have to twat the brake caliper once in 300 miles. It's definitely improving with being used... beko1987 Posted July 21, 2019 Posted July 21, 2019 Another enjoyable weekend from mine and Eva's angle! We camped at the FoD only but the good thing about that is the show comes to us! However next year I might look into buying spectator tickets for us and coming to the show and camp Fri and sat Today was spent dismantling the tent, tidying up and basically sitting in the sun falling asleep. My dad and stepmum came over with some stuff for me and to sit in the sun and try not to fall asleep as well and it was lovely! Also a big thanks to Mr @SiC for the surround sound and Mr @andrew e for the tins of grease and krust I have in the zx! And @Mrs6Cfor the cider which I'll give Allan tomorrow Mrs6C and BorniteIdentity 2
Ghosty Posted July 21, 2019 Posted July 21, 2019 Volvo performed very well on the trip, quick calculations suggest it did at least 30mpg, not bad for a turbo five pot. LightBulbFun, rantingYoof, beko1987 and 4 others 7
catsinthewelder Posted July 21, 2019 Posted July 21, 2019 I got home about an hour ago (the last?) What a fantastic weekend! Many thanks to Chris and Claire for hosting and lending me the lovely VP1500, it's a really nice thing to drive and a great car to take to a show. Thanks too, to the Silvers and Beko for breakfasts and everyone there for being such wonderful company for me and the kids. They can't wait for the next one but I imagine the nagging for something with an engine will start soon. We all had a go on the 125 scooter and ATV, I looked on terrified as Bobby drove past in the Invacar then the 45 and this morning he was driving the Range Rover. Really good to meet friends old and new. Booby prize for turning up in a modern was a flat battery and sticking brakes, the VP ran faultlessly. LightBulbFun, beko1987, mitsisigma01 and 8 others 11
beko1987 Posted July 21, 2019 Posted July 21, 2019 It's alright, you weren't the most modern, dad turned up in his 18 plate ioniq I don't think anyone took any pictures of that! catsinthewelder 1

richardmorris Posted July 21, 2019 Posted July 21, 2019 Sounds like a great time was had. I had the parents overnight on Friday ( not a complaint we had a fantast Italian dinner in egham), but then in work yesterday for hours doing paperwork and making bloody tax ffffing digital. beko1987 1
davidfowler2000 Posted July 21, 2019 Posted July 21, 2019 Well I totally* got round to washing the dead flies off the 740 today. Rain happened. Finally back in my own house now. Thanks again to Chris and Claire for suffering all of us over the weekend. Was good to see some new faces as well as the many regulars to various AS meets. I also like to see that there's folk out there that still go "So you came here from Scotland? Today? And you're going back tomorrow?" BorniteIdentity and mitsisigma01 2
beko1987 Posted July 21, 2019 Posted July 21, 2019 It seems the kids had a play with Eva's camera! FoD day through the eyes of children... I'm quite impressed! RobT, brownnova, LightBulbFun and 9 others 9 3
beko1987 Posted July 21, 2019 Posted July 21, 2019 @JohnK he's not got any bruises on him anywhere has he? Did they save the face? (Sorry man, I'll tell her off in the morning!) catsinthewelder, richardmorris, trigger and 4 others 4 3

LightBulbFun Posted July 21, 2019 Posted July 21, 2019 those are some impressive photos! you need to give them a better camera/phone next time (I do love how the one where I was asked to pose for, has the window reflection obscuring most of my face LOL) (also one of the few photos where REV has both of her doors closed, as its all to easy to just be lazy and drive around with the doors open on a Model 70 ) catsinthewelder and richardmorris 2
beko1987 Posted July 21, 2019 Posted July 21, 2019 It's not a horrific little camera actually. A proper 'kid proof' job, , I bought it for £3 at a car boot because it had a 32gb Sandisk SDHC card in! It has a shitter 8gb in now and the 32gb has been powering my camera for the past 120 videos. I'll let her take it out more often now! I've got a proper compact 20mp one actually, could teach her how to use it LightBulbFun 1
richardmorris Posted July 21, 2019 Posted July 21, 2019 Children take photos of what interests them ( like us grown ups). Don’t stop them, as it can help us see as they do. though why she seems intent on a blond child sacrificing is anyone’s guess. beko1987 and LightBulbFun 2

Looking through my photos has reminded me that I think @dollywobbler would have been pleased at the number of HubNut stickers, bags, T-shirts and other merch which were on display at FOTU. His influence is spreading... I'm just looking forward to the day when any car which has been featured on the HubNut Youtube channel is worth millions, then I can sell the CX and Innocenti and retire. egg, richardmorris, skattrd and 6 others 9

Thoroughly enjoyable day, glad we stopped by the FOD following the group meal we attended, it was only brief but ended the day nicely. Those in the FOD will have been aware the Stanza was suffering some aux belt issues which started around 5miles before we arrived at Claydon House. It got all the way back to where RichBraith had left his car and gave up. Good timing! Some 25 miles from home but at least we had access to replacement transport at that stage, especially given it was 2am. Went back this evening and got it home, so at least it is safe now. JohnK Posted July 21, 2019 Posted July 21, 2019 Yeah it was one of those things where the risk just had to be taken. It did quieten down just as we got to the end of the lane and was fine after that, until it started flapping around as I tried to leave Thirsk after dropping Rich off! beko1987 1
