I'm waiting on him getting back to me regarding collection, I called him on Friday to tell him the good news about passing its mot, if I get the opportunity I will drop it off to him.

It’s been said many times, but it’s a mighty fine thing you’ve done with this. Top man

If the owner is a decent chap, a donation on his part to a charity of his choice would be a nice idea..............

Well done!

It's silly little things like this which occasionally restore my faith in the human race.

what a strange but heartwarming thread.

Will this now be an autoshite 'thing'?

Crowdfunding the repair of a stranger's car?

Anyway, have to go now as I think I have something in my eye.

Yeah, everything above. This is fantastic. Well done Foad. When I’m next in town I’ll keep an eye out for this little slice of AS

I don't care about a donation to charity or the forum. Generosity should not require obligation.

We've no idea if the owner is in a financial position to do anything, and acts of kindness have a wider impact than just the recipient.

Be excellent to each other.

+1 here

The point was to save the car, that's been done, everybody wins.

Yep, if the owner wants to buy Scott a deep fried mars bar or whatever then great, otherwise the account is clear.

They probably thought “thank fuck” when it failed its mot.

Finally we can get that new Kia Picanto we’ve wanted for years , then it gets fixed re mot’d and dropped back at their house. FFS not this thing again :)

Great work, it’s nice to see someone doing a nice thing because they can .

But the car came back, he couldn't stay no long-er,

Yes the car came back de very next day,

the car came back—thought she were a goner,

But the car came back for it wouldn't stay away.

Excellent work chaps, I will echo above comments, it's not about money it's about saving a rare car, and even better the guy gets it back, he probably had sleepless nights thinking it was going to scrap or what ever. Good work all round

I watched all of this happen as an outsider, didn't get involved at all, I'm thoroughly impressed with what happened here.

Absolute respect to FOAD for giving up your spare time to make someone else happy. I've never seen such a random act of kindness.

Ha! I went to see a friend once in my old 2cv. When I got there I saw her neighbor peeking through the bush and generally sneaking about. I met her a while later she said "I used to have one of these, I thought oh god! They (the people who bought it) are bringing it back!"

Fair play Foad.

Fair play Foad.

This reads much better if you read out FOAD in full. A friendly insult.
