I could always jump on a train and go and get it - I've already driven a daft distance in a shonky red Visa belonging to someone else once this year and that went OK, so no reason why I couldn't do it again.

£10 cross-country ticket available, but you would need to go the long way via Birmingham.

This needs to be done. Only so I can have a shot in it really.

Although, the image of 2 middle aged blokes driving round the countryside in a shonky old Visa ragtop has made me think of all the "Norfolk's answer to Thelma & Louise" memes that would suddenly appear. :D

As you were.

You say that like it is a bad thing? :-)

@Angrydicky funny I mentioned that to @Six-cylinder when he messaged! Would be good if that worked out. I’ve never had so many tickets for one roffle! If it ends up going northwards I’m sure I could drive it for the next owner. Let’s be honest though, we know it’s only going as far as Wisbech, eh @BeEP? ?

Hmm, there may be a certain inevitability.  In which case I'd better get a move on with getting the Maestro sorted (it runs now but I got a bit carried away getting the underseal off the rear arches....)

I had a nosey at it when I stopped by, obviously just a quick look given the weather that day! It does look solid

At 10am I picked this up1A725EE7-FEDF-441B-95C9-4F1F1696A022.thumb.jpeg.5491a8f035073cb52999de3dcc8b3e87.jpeg

picked up paperwork, quick chat with the owner and I was handed the keys. Came out to this beauty. Started straight away with a bit choke, into first and eased it out the space. He may be a @DodgyBastard, but his description of the clutch was spot on! There’s very little feel, and any more than a millimetre of throttle can bring induce slipping, even a slight incline at 30mph gave it a bit trouble... it does get better as it warms up though, and I was only driving it 4 miles though town. It’s now on my driveway while it’s decided what’s next. I know a couple of places but any local shiters know an old car friendly garage that would take this clutch job on? Or cheap trailer borrow/hire to get it down south?

Under the grime there is a good car there, it’s got a willing engine and bags of character :)  Glad it’s being saved (again)
