Would a £500 Calibra be a really bad idea? That blue one is definitely giving me the wink

Not at all judging by the previous comments on here. It seems reasonably priced and it is a Cavalier underneath, so should be simple enough.

Bramz, this Hyundai looks utterly dreadful, but fulfills the brief perfectly. As a bonus, it comes with three spoke wheels, very patterned seats and the worst wood* trim I have ever seen fitted to a car (which is quite an achievement).

I'm sure fwd Calibres have the same old bendy rear axle as fwd Cavaliers

No.

They have the same IRS as the fwd GSI cavalier.

I'd be lying if I said that wasn't in my watch list already. Looks like a likely candidate....

Rover 600?

Perhaps not something I'd call odd, but they're very good 90s waft-o-barges and they tend to be dirt cheap.

This, and I know a man with one for sale after FOTU.... 250 would prise it away, Shiter rates.

Oh my word, that Hyundai is grim. Get it bought!

Did you say something about missing Rover 800s? I had a shot of snagglepuss's one yesterday and it's very good. Still for sale.

Quietly slips you a fiver...

A Xedos 6 would be ideal, 90s, oddball, yet actually rather competent.

Finding one for £500 that’s roadworthy might prove to be a challenge though.

I do like a Potato.

The best definition of the world “culture” I ever heard is “how you behave when you think nobody is watching you”.

With the Potato- it’s like Toyota were trying really really really hard at the time to make contemporary cars that were a bit more stylish, we all turned our backs for a second and they reverted to type - succumbed to the addiction - and made the Paseo.

want.

Toyota Picnic?

Suzuki X-90?

Ssangyong Korando?

Might be easier to drop a pm?

So far I've been outbid on a Xantia and 9000 turbo. Old habits die hard. Low bids never win! Unless it's a Tempra...

Also my budget is equal to and less than £500, not £1k plus like some of the links posted above.

No Toyota Picnics, the only MPV is an early 90s Espace.

Bet you lot can't wait to see the inevitable French shed I end up with.

Sorry for Hijack, but woah that's early. Must be Jan/Feb build date, can't tell any more because ETIS has gone all GDPR.

Possibly not the oldest left, but in the top 20.

Shame it's a bit broken, but no rust in the MOT history at all - which is not untypical on low mileage early ones.

Their description.

Auto trader says it's a 1.6cl. i'm sure this isn't right as I thought the cl trim level was 1.4 only.

My budget is £500 and below. And I don't want a crappy Escort.

To be honest nothing is blowing my socks off. I'll probably just play the waiting game and hope that Espace I so dearly want appears eventually. And then end up buying something else.
