JohnK Posted August 28, 2018 Posted August 28, 2018 1992 (J) Honda Prelude 2.0iS AutoMOT: May 201992k miles I bought this a couple of months ago to use as a daily and I've covered around 3000 miles in it since.Runs and drives extremely well, I bought it off an old giffer who used it as a second car. 4 good tyres all roundInterior is immaculate, electric sunroof, electric windows, central locking, 3 keys I've just changed the O/S/F CV Joint last week. I would love to keep it as I had bought it to get me over the winter, however with 2 cars already joining the fleet imminently and a deal on a 3rd car today it is a case of something has to give and unfortunately this is the one. Bodywork is okay, there is the usual rust on the rear arches, however it is surface at this stage; nothing recorded in the MOT history. Registration is J857 CWF Delivery is possible, especially to somewhere in or on the way from Middlesbrough to London or Kent areas when I'm on my next collection. £400 - would raffle if enough interest. privatewire, prepace, Aston Martin and 17 others 20
Ghosty Posted August 28, 2018 Posted August 28, 2018 These are GR9, I had an identical K plater briefly. £400 is a fucking steal, half what it's worth really.
gadgetgricey Posted August 28, 2018 Posted August 28, 2018 #28 , #44, and #47 if it does roffle. (assuming ticket prices about 3 for £20)I've always loved those, and that colour is awesome
eddyramrod Posted August 28, 2018 Posted August 28, 2018 I hope this stays in the fold so I can get another crack at it when I'm allowed to drive again! It looks lush and would be an excellent tool for restoring my mojo. Meanwhile, GLWTS.
HMC Posted August 28, 2018 Posted August 28, 2018 He did, an auto. EX phil_lip looked great but IIRC the auto box created column inches.
dollywobbler Posted August 28, 2018 Posted August 28, 2018 Yup. Had one. Liked it. Bit firm for the likes of me though. Rover is much more my cup of tea. The Prelude on a twisty road was sheer joy though! phil_lihp 1
phil_lihp Posted August 28, 2018 Posted August 28, 2018 It was a marvellous car, probably the best-looking car I've ever owned and with the better tyres on it it did handle brilliantly (not so much on the perished Tigars it was wearing originally). Shame the autobox was poorly, I believe JohnDeere (sp?) still has it though. Side note: the back seats in these are not ideal if you have legs. barefoot 1
gadgetgricey Posted August 28, 2018 Posted August 28, 2018 Side note: the back seats in these are not ideal if you have legs. Thanks. Just laughed very loudly in the office, and got a couple of strange looks from colleagues. (No change there then) phil_lihp 1
Ohdearme Posted August 28, 2018 Posted August 28, 2018 Had a 2.2 import years ago and recaptured my youth with a UK Vtec example with the digi dash. Shame this is an auto as the manual box in these was one of the snickiest pieces of engineering I’ve ever experienced. 4WS was weird in car parks, as the point of rotation in the car was level with your knees, not the front axle but I don’t think the 2.0 had this? Speaking of knees, older giffers should note getting in and out of a Prelude is inelegant at best, the seat is so low that you’d swear you missed the car completely and sat on the floor. Random ticket please!
chancer Posted August 28, 2018 Posted August 28, 2018 Oh sweet lord...i've been warned i'm in danger of losing a bollock if another car appears! With that in mind, and since ive still a full set of danglies, i can afford to lose one! 2 randomers pleeez
SRi05 Posted August 28, 2018 Posted August 28, 2018 Fucking hell, that's almost identical to mine! I can confirm these cars are absolutely GR9 Ghosty, Split_Pin, Ohdearme and 1 other 4
J-T Posted August 28, 2018 Posted August 28, 2018 It was a marvellous car, probably the best-looking car I've ever owned and with the better tyres on it it did handle brilliantly (not so much on the perished Tigars it was wearing originally). Shame the autobox was poorly, I believe JohnDeere (sp?) still has it though. Side note: the back seats in these are not ideal if you have legs. I came across my pics of this the other day, I'm pretty sure it was a similar reg. Edit: it was similar-ish. I ended up putting 2 new rear calipers on that for the MOT as the handbrake was shite. After I'd done it, that was the only rear disk braked car I've ever had where the handbrake would lock the rear wheels when applied on the move. Maybe that was more to do with the rock hard tyres tho! GLWTS, one of the best looking jap cars ever methinks phil_lihp and oldcars 2
Fabergé Greggs Posted August 28, 2018 Posted August 28, 2018 That’s well nice- I’m tempted. Does anyone know what the gearing is like for the motorway? I know it’s a £400 car and all but any Cambelt worries? binhoker668 1
JohnK Posted August 28, 2018 Author Posted August 28, 2018 I will set the Roffle numbers up tomorrow for those who have expressed interest, it does of course remain on general sale as well but seeing as there is some appetite for the roffle we may as well give it a go. Jack - just responded to your PM. In terms of motorway driving it is fairly refined; not quite sure what revs it sits at when doing 70mph off the top of my head, but I will probably be using it for my 380 mile round trip to Coventry tomorrow so will check.
sporty-shite Posted August 28, 2018 Posted August 28, 2018 I'll take a trio of randoms for this, please.
barefoot Posted August 28, 2018 Posted August 28, 2018 I'll have a random ticket too, if there's any left!
JohnK Posted August 28, 2018 Author Posted August 28, 2018 Raffle numbers allocated to those who have requested them - if we do £7 a ticket which will bring back £413 and I will throw the £13 fuel into the tank to get somebody a head start!1. junkyarddog Posted August 28, 2018 Posted August 28, 2018 These really are such a handsome car. One of my favorites.
