Shit ! Truly awful news, I last read about his exploits of trying to fix a pond pump of some sorts and very nearly getting the job done.

Just serves as a sharp reminder of how fragile life can be, R.I.P Dave

Posted

Er what?? I'm still thinking the same as Pillock above like he's just going to post something about how the slug didn't get him...

I hope he knew just how much we all thought of him, his skills and his writings and how much he'll be missed by all.

Utterly gutted. Terrific to read his exploits. A guy who will be missed in all walks of his life.

R,I,P,

I am lost for words.

Rest In Peace Dave, a true shitter if ever there was one.

It's at times like these that i would suggest a Depeche Mode hit for his send off.

I don't want to start any blasphemous rumours but i think that Gods got a sick sense of humour and when i die i expect to find him laughing.

Fuck. I'm fairly new here but already had a sense of the guy's humour and great attitude through his writing, so I always kept an eye out for his posts. Genuinely logged on expecting to hear the results of the blood slug saga and have a good laugh.

Poor guy, this is gutting. RIP Dave.

...Yet again, like many I guess, I'm deeply upset over a man I've never met...

That sums it up.

Can't believe it, even as I'm writing this it sounds a bit pathetic but it really is like a member of your extended family passing away or something . I know more about Dave's life, work, cars, likes and dislikes etc than any member of my real family beyond my wife, kids and brothers...

Me too, and I suspect others too. Maybe we should all take a little more time to get to know those people.

Didn't know the chap but i am feelling just a little bit numb right now.

Life is a cruel mistress.Rest well Dave numbers.

Sometimes life just isn't bloody fair God Knows it just isn't fair,

I learnt more about life in rural France both good and bad from his posts and as for "You'd have to be mad to try it but it actually works" engineering tips there was no one more entertaining to read anywhere.

Never imagined I was 6 years older than Dave numbers, He was wise and experienced beyond his years.

This is terrible news, truely shocked and saddened. RIP

Like everyone, I don't think I've felt this bad about losing someone I've never met.

Don't know what else to say.....

Doing an art for Hendry was relatively straight forward, wtf am I going to do for Davenumbers?

What an absolute shit.  I liked Davenumbers.  I'm going to stop liking people, it's too dangerous.

I can highly recommend his mini van resto thread on the blue forum for those who haven't seen it as well. Its got his typical level of ingenuity in. I think he had a different username on there though so I am struggling for a link. Anyone know it?

Posted

Terrible news, a sad loss to the forum and from what I've read, the world in general.

RIP

im fairly new here but as others said dave of many numbers had a way with words that often made me smile/chuckle

RIP Dave 21478

(excuse me if this is in a bit in appropriate but is there any more information on the crash? especially given the recent blood slug episode..)

Fallen over lawnmower, fallen over fiesta, fiat panda on its side...

Was Dave responsible for saving the running gear off a Panda using another Panda as a brace while the donor vehicle was sort of suspended at 45 degrees and then just sort of... fell over when everything was unbolted?

Posted

Holy shit. I really can't quite believe this. Another shitter gone so soon. He really was having a long run of bad luck and he now has had the worst luck of all.

Going to be really tough to not see his name on here anymore.

Horrible, horrible news. I saw the thread title and hoped it really wasn't the news I feared. As some others have said, it's irrelevant that I never physically met the fella. It's the fact that I felt as though I already knew him.

Sad times.

If it's at all possible, could Tayne please pass on my/our collective condolences to Dave's family/relatives/etc.? And thank you for informing us too.

Horrible news. I enjoyed his threads tremendously and will miss his contributions. The fact that it was a car accident is unsettling what with the kind of cars this forum is typically centered around and a horrible reminder that it can all be over so abruptly on the roads. RIP Dave.

I didn't know him personally, but the world has just become a duller place. RIP Dave.

Truly terrible news. Seemed like a great chap with a superb sense of humour and mechanical skillset that most of us could only dream of.

Really sad to hear that he has passed away. I will miss him very much.
