Nicest ever wheels??

I chose my car because it had steel wheels. A steel wheel will fold in an impact and absorb a lot of the force. With a steel wheel, dented rims can be easily be knocked out yourself. Not so easy on an allow wheel. Choose safety over appearance, you may be glad you did. I certainly was!

Well, that's certainly one of the most joyless posts I've ever read on a forum dedicated to old cars.

Daimler Insignia and Jaguar/Daimler turbines I think they're called, amongst many favourites, there are some good looking wheels out there :)

Personally I always think of the wire spokes of yesteryear as the most attractive. And in an age where computers are used to think up the names of new models (Vel Satis for eg) I am amazed that nobody has turned out an enormously intricately intertwined spoke design for the 21st century. Why?

how is it possible to make an alloy look like s plastic wheel trim?

I like the Marathon steels I have on my Beetle. They are a bit different to the usual Porsche or Empi wheels every other Vw has. And I have the stainless caps for them too.

Rostyles - never beaten!

Rostyles or Wolfraces

I've once determined (with a friend) that Rostyle will look good on every single 1960's and 1970's model of car. Morris Minor, Range Rover, Ford Cortina, VW Beetle, or even Muscle cars with their Magnum 500 wheels (which is a type of Rostyle too). All of them looks really good with Rostyle.

Recently I've had TEH HORN for slotmags...

That said, I find "best wheels evvah" to be entirely related to what car they are on.

E.g. BBS lattice alloys (style 5s)on a BMW E30 or BMW E34 = yes plz

on and E36 = wtf! Get some style 30s on there pronto

:/ If your in an accident where the whhels are getting crushed and deformed then mending the fuckers would be least of your worries.

You are right of course, in that there is no overall nicest wheel.....great choices.

These were fitted to the 740 GLE as standard from 1989 model year when they went from 14 inch rims to 15 inch.

I never realised it, but I seem to have a bit of a hubcap thing going on.
