R.I.P. G.Hendry...

Your posts were a good read, well worded, informative and relevant, a rare talent.. I didn't know you but I feel I knew something of you.. Your personal circumstances never clouded your topic / thread responses, you came across as a loyal and kind fellow, too good for this World, a greater purpose awaits you somewhere that appreciates you.

Travel unhindered my internet friend...

Wow I've only just seen this, the news24 thread isn't one I often read.

Terribly sad that the scourge of depression could wipe out a young guy with a lot to offer.

One of the real characters of this place. I come and go, but I always feel welcome and enjoy the banter of posters like Hendry which makes autoshite what it is.

RIP.

His depth of knowledge and level of passion on subjects were something to marvel at, he could fill a screen with text but you'd make time to read the whole lot and learn a shedload about something you never knew you could be passionate about and feel smarter for the experience.

My sincere condolences to Greg's family and friends.

I can only echo the words and sentiments expressed above. Greg had very recently left some interesting and informative comments on a thread I have in the Modern Shite section. I've just re-read them, he was spot-on in what he said, and to think he could express himself so eloquently whilst be going through so much emotional turmoil is difficult to comprehend.

Let's hope the rest of us think a bit more about issues we're suffering ourselves or that we see in family members and friends around us.

RIP Greg.

Been thinking about leaving a fitting response and struggled, so in the end I've settled for a picture - it is the last mark 6 built I hope that's o.k. Hendry.

Very sorry to hear this. One of the forum regulars and a wealth of knowledge. I know he struggled at times with depression and life in general. He will be greatly missed. RIP Hendry

Crikey, what can I possibly say? I only knew him through his forum posts, but his knowledge will certainly be missed and he sounded like a really nice guy.

I've had experience with a person very close to me struggling with depression and contemplating suicide, it's a desperate place to be.

I don't get on here as often as I used to so was really shocked this afternoon to hear of Greg's passing. As pointed out by others, some of his posts make very sobering reading now. RIP fella.

What a shock. RIP Hendry, I shall miss your enthusiasm and knowledgeable posts. Take care up there.

For once in this redoubtable place I've been at a loss for words for days, except that memories of lost loved ones last in a good way, as pain slowly mellows.

Last call for this thread. Any other messages you would like to be included in the card please post them today.  I will close the thread tomorrow and get everything printed out.

Rest in peace, Hendry.

A great loss to the Autoshite community.

Gone, but not forgotten.

I never know what to say when someone passes.

All i can say is Mr Hendry you have gone way too soon.

Rest in peace Sir.

Mr Vulgalour has drawn a fitting front cover to the condolences card. It will be printed on nice card with all of your messages included in it.

This place is definitely what it used to be.

I've really struggled to think of something fitting to put here and finding it hard to figure how to put the words together.

So I'll just leave this:

I've not stopped thinking about you leaving us and its really hard to accept that you're not going to be around anymore. I'm going to really miss you Hendry. :(

That Escort is outstanding!

Just a pity he's not here to see it :(

A few of you had PM'd asking and I now have details - Greg's funeral will be at 2pm on Friday March 16th at Woodside Crematorium in Paisley, thereafter to Neilston Bowling Club.

Moog and Hendry to thank for the picture, the former's direction and the latter's obsessive attention to detail meant I had all the references needed to create it so accurately on this very forum so accurately.  I do wish I had been able to create it under happier circumstances, it is a bittersweet piece of work to me.

Hendry, you will be missed greatly by all of us on here.

You faced many difficulties, however you expressed a truly brilliant level of knowledge and passion for the Scottish motor trade and the everyday cars that we all love here. Over the last few days I, and many others, have noticed that the forum is sadder and poorer without you. I have no doubt that those who had the pleasure of knowing you in person also feel the same now that you are no longer with us.

Good grief, I didn't realise Hendry had passed on.

RIP .

I came across this, I'm sure Hendry will be looking down on it and penning the history of Johnson Stewart as we look at it.

God bless you.

Isn't it just?

I feel guilty for not posting up a message but I used to rip the piss out of him something rotten.

The fund was swollen by a tenner or so a couple of weeks back however. Vulgs Escort drawing brought a touch of moisture to the eyes. The human race isn't fucked after all.

A few of us took the Mick a bit, but I genuinely remember thinking that he clearly didn't take offence at you.
