2.0 Sterling with three pedals? Rare beast!

I'll stick up a picture when I eventually get around to sticking up a KV6 ressurection thread. Its shod with 16" Rover Sport alloys that very early 2.0 Turbo Vitesses got, (not the 17" abominations)

 

As it pulled off onto the road it kind of sounded a bit weedy to me, not the V6 growl I've been used to. But it is a nice car whatever engine and I'm glad it's still on the road. I have driven a 2.0 manual Coupe which was quite weird in all honesty.

 

See, I told you, something is happening with all of these 800s suddenly appearing me!

I used to have a set of the 16" Rover Sports on my current Vitesse - I really liked them, I thought they somehow enhanced the fastback shape. In an understated, classy way it made the Mk2 look like how the Mk1 should have looked (for whatever reason, I've never been a massive fan of the non-Vitesse Mk1 fastback - it's Mk1 saloons and Mk2 fastbacks for me).

 

I love the 17s as well though - they suit the more purposeful profile of the Vitesse and did an excellent good job of giving the 800 a sporty look, much like the beautiful 16" Prestige wheels transformed it into a stylish English wafter.

 

For a while there, Rover were really, really good at wheels.

I think I might be a bad influence.  Just as well I can't make Chodmonderly, I'm heading down to St Austell on Saturday afternoon for a collection but it's not me this time, I'm just the chauffeur for a friend who's been admiring* my steady stream of chod and decided to have a go himself.  Alas, he's a VW fan so it's a slightly chavved Mk2 Golf with no MOT and hideous wheels but it's otherwise mostly original and looks very solid.  We'll see.  I've offered to tow it back on a trailer with the 940 but he's happy to drive it back to a pre-booked MOT if it turns out to be as good as described.

Just ordered some new gate hinges that are an exact match for the ones my father put on the garden gate he made in 1973.  Gate itself is still going strong in spite of never having been repainted since fitting - as is one of the original hinges. Proper job that.

It's bad really that I've lived fairly close to Goodwood almost my whole life but never actually been for an event. Something I really should do something about!

 

I've been there a few times when out and about for work. There's a substation there near one corner of the track so I went and watched a few oldies being used for a track day. Looked (and sounded) brilliant.

Been on the lookout for two Corsa B alloys for as cheap as possible and made an offer on a set of four on eBay for half what they were asking and that offer was accepted, happy £10 per rim days.  With the other set of 3 I got for 99p, and the single centre cap I had to buy for about £6 that means the full set has still cost me under £50 and I should reduce that further when I sell on the two wheels I don't need.  Happy days.
