What makes you grin? Antidote to grumpy thread

Was watching, I think, Car SOS last night, the one with Fuzz Townsend in any way, don't know if it was a repeat but they did up a mk1 Cortina owned by this old fella, think it had been in the family for 40+ years.

His reaction when he realised his son hadn't sold it was brilliant, really heart warming.

I think that one's my favourite of all the wheeler dealer do them up and spaff them on car shows doing the rounds. Hope it lasts.

The price of scrap being down is effing brilliant, long may it continue.

My good lady is joining weight watchers, not that she needs to.

She said Monday in my weight in day! Over the bridge with her  :-)

Found a £20 non runner with  two speed plus reverse gearbox and perished tyres, seller had carefully put it on the back of a truck in case I couldn't take it away, had to remove the engine to get the rest (240kg) in the back of an zx estate. Engine is one of Prestwick's finest

Please ask Billy, since me and Mrs_Pillock are now looking at each other repeating the word "spodosols" with a confused look, and we may not sleep tonight if not resolved.

  1. "Spodosols are acid soils characterized by a subsurface accumulation of humus and Al & Fe oxides. These soils are very photogenic and typically have a light-colored E horizon overlying a reddish-brown spodic horizon.Spodosols often occur under coniferous forest in cool, moist climates."

I've been up on a windy hill in Yorkshire.

I saw a field of shite, including a Rover 200 balanced on a JCB tyre; a beige Polonez and a proper Dacia Duster in one barn, and a bobtailed Niva in another; the Samara of Doom in the man-cave at the top.  I had a go round Malhamdale in an insane 205STDT pocket rocket.  No pics because I am rubbish and left my phone in the Blingo.

Top day!  Thanks, Will - sorry I missed you, Joe.

I'm probably missing the point but his numbers are seriously overdone, apart from parliament.

I know it's proper childish but I had a good laugh at these when I saw them at college today.

One bloke was impressed I knew what they were when he didn't at which point a few did start fawning over them.

I liked this angle best

They are both rotten as chuff. People give Ferrari's and their like utter reverence as they are "the best" but at the end of the day their no different to any other car but cost too much and some go fast

I badly want to see those ^ used instead of water cannons at the next EDL rally.

Today has been a rather good day at work. It appears that we have entered the Shite shifting business.

There was some interesting tat round the back of the bodyshop we took it too.

When we got back a friendly customer was waiting for us, he was looking for a mechanic as the ignition key won't go in on his BX, suffice to say it's now in my pocket and I'll be round there in the next few days to tinker.

Next up I drove this monster round to the workshop.

It's here for us to install sleeping quarters. An added bonus is that the company might be coughing up to put me through my trailer test :D

Tonight on the way home from work I followed a D reg Volvo 740 GL estate (red) and an E reg proper mini (pale blue), both looked right tidy.

Dam I need to get a camera in my car.

It's 19 years since I finished uni. Meeting up with some of the blokes on Saturday for a few scoops. :)

It's also about 18 years since I last went out on the piss. I have no idea of what to wear and there are lots of things that terrify me silly :(

^^^ Wear what you did 18 years ago, if you can't fit into them, visit a Charity shop and buy something similar in your size. Whatever you do, just make it look like you haven't left mid 90s style-wise.

This is why I get away with wearing early 90s style clothing, because I can.

Bird Trader

Dunno why. But it does make me want to buy some owls, just to upset my neighbour some more.

Driving video around Southsea, Hampshire from 1983, full of tat.

Although I have to say that living in Southend-On-Tat most streets still look like this  8)

We was engineering students. So a night out was no clothing style, pub with olde mind rotter real ale, drink until you fall over.

The more I think about it, the more I'm dreading going. I can't do 12 hours in a pub any more.

Most pubs will do you a cup of tea nowadays, problem solved

I wouldn't worry Mr. Bullet.   I was an engineering student in the 90s and used to drink a lot.   Now I think twice about a second can of beer of an evening in case I feel a bit poorly the next day.   You'll probably find that they are all dull middle managers now and need to get back at a reasonable time to keep the wife happy and take the kids out the next day.

That Southsea vid was great...Most of it still looks like that apart from the Tricorn.   I still have a photo of that Pontiac at 04:07!

broken tumbler in the switch - look down the barrel and you will see one adrift - new ignition lock is the solution!
