What makes you grin? Antidote to grumpy thread

Why do women want these light coloured carpets, anyway?   Mrs Rocker swooned at the sight of her friend's house all laid room-to-room in a honey beige tufted wool mix what-not (it sounded like an Allegro trim guide when she described it).   So, despite me wanting to try the tip for a bit of swirly 70's-ness in a skip, we ended up with the same.   Trouble is Mrs.Friend licks her house clean three times a day whereas I tend to tramp through from back door to front in waxoyl-encrusted work boots just to get a metric socket out of the Merc.   I am likely not to make ageing population status myself at this rate....

As much as I hate laminate due to not being able to use any of my many upright hoovers on it, and that the dust creeps to the edges of the room like a shitty tidemark, I can walk through the house to get tools out of the porch with no worries, and just run the mop round afterwards before SWMBO comes home! Even the rug we have is very dark brown so shows up nothing!

The carpet in my mums house is probably early/mid 70's, was down when my stepdad bought the place in 1983. It's well worn now, but they like it as being big tea drinkers, having tea colored carpet means when they spill tea they don't have to care. That and it would cost £shitloads to re-carpet the whole ground floor, stairs and hall!

I'm sooooo impressed, I've just hammered a nail into one of my cupboard doors to hang it from... of course I broke the laminate, 'tis the autoshite way! :)

Aye, apparently white wine cancels out red wine. Therefore after drinking a bottle of red wine, I always drink a bottle of white wine and hay presto, I am sober again.

Hold, let me write this down.

It didn't make me grin, but it did seem like Karma. I was in a narrow street with parked cars and did the decent thing by stopping to let the bus and lorry come through the other way. The car behind did not think this was a good idea and revved up and passed me, with the bus and lorry coming through, there was not enough room so he bounced up onto the kerb and drove with two wheels on the pavement to get through, disappearing into the distance. I admit to a bit of schadenfreude when a little bit further along the road I saw him stopped at the side of the road looking at his flat front tyre.

Really? I'd have been grinning like a loon at that, personally.

Story in the local paper about a registration number that has been in the same family for over 100 years.

It started on a Type 78 Peugeot and has been on over twenty cars over the years.post-5582-0-18058800-1420839987_thumb.jpg

Coming from work I asked mrs fp to stop at a cashpoint and a really nice 309gti came past, mrs fp and I were both admiring it, and impreza driver that was parked by us looked at us and revved his car to try and get some attention, mrs fp laughed and drove off to catch up to the pug to admire it some more

Uncorked the latest batch of home made wine. It's a bit potent.

Love that in the third picture down the gentleman driver seems to have taken his chickens out for a nice picnic complete with a lovely tea set.

My day kicked off with a Xantia tow bar being delivered, then an Autoshite calender and then a drive home in a Corsa.  Truly, I am living the dream.
