i was walking back to mine from my mum and dads earlier when i realized council estates haven't really changed, in my mind i replaced the focus with a beat up cortina which made me smile.

The smells from houses on estates haven't changed either.

The conditioner smell of washing drying on the line, the smell of burnt toast and fry ups from open doors and the smell of freshly cut grass in Spring.

I once called a van hire place to ask if they had a car transporter and the lady replied no sorry we don't as not enough call for it,

so then I asked if they had a transit tipper she said yes but don't even think about loading a car onto it,   damn foiled again :-D

For the first time in my life (yes, really) I tried to make some roast potatoes and they actually turned out remarkably well

I bet the gearbox on that little Accent has let go. The automatics are supposed to be a right pain to fix.

Tricky things roast potatoes. Far more complicated than just putting a spud in the oven..... That would be a baked one....

A bit like owning a French car really. Nothing makes sense.

I've always found them fairly straight-forward. Peel, steam briefly, jiggle violently in a metal sieve, coat in oil, shove into oven. Remove when nice smell starts turning acrid, throw random dried herbs at them, and serve. I R AKCHEWL CHEF.

As above but mix 1/2 teaspoon of Dunns River jerk seasoning with the oil before coating tatties.

Jerk seasoning. Is there nothing it cannot do?

Some stupid kids running in front of the car trying to cross the road at about 3.30 was just about to blast the horn but spotted a KITT driving towards me light bar flashing. Bit unusual for Leeds and forgot to look if Michael driving :-)

Just passed my LGV theory test, hazard perception and CPC case study test  :-D  Waiting for a call back with my practical test date.

Incidentally the hazard perception is RAMMED FULL of chod, some clips must be circa 1999, I particularly enjoyed the Northern Ireland section

This could have gone in either the pushbike shite or gardening threads, or maybe even it's own collection thread, but I'll stick it here. For reasons I won't go into, the other evening I found myself waiting for a train with a newly acquired £10 garden shredder off of ebay, tied with electrical mains cable to my crap folding bike. I took this pic then noticed the sign afterwards. They're right, it didn't hurt a bit.

Got the replacement heater blower resistor in the post today and fitted it at lunchtime, it was remarkably straightforward to do and now I'm back to the full set of 5 blower positions, rather than being restricted to 'off' with instantly steamed up windows, or 'hurricane' where you could hear anyone speak or the radio even at full blast.

Bonus points for it appearing to be from the N16 Almera which was recognised internationally for its substantially better resistor board design, when compared to the N15's. Still, for a notorious weak-spot, its lasted 18 years which I can't really complain too much about.

Just been to meet the other chap in town who owns a Cherry.post-4555-0-91247700-1417036423_thumb.jpg

His is also a 1.3 but it's far from standard. He uses it for historic rallying so it's got a big carb, full cage, power steering from a Sunny and stiffer suspension from a rwd escort amongst loads of other stuff.

With a 5spd box he reckons 125mph is possible, I like it lots :D

Ma decided she wanted a petrol lawnmower for the cutting of grass after finding out about my mower powered wheel barrow idea. So I purchased another dud one off evilbay. New dud goes phut when you give it a blast of start ya bastard, so must be ok, but carb full of shit.

Cleaned the carb, pulled the starter and whoosh off it goes first pull. Unfortunately it was whoosh as well, cos mower buggered off on it's own at a surprising speed until crashing into the house. It's quite nice now I've adjusted the roller drive cable.

Astra-twat from my grump a couple of days ago has been to collect his car.

After paying the bill I said "here's your MOT,here's the keys, there's the door...Now fuck off"

It felt good saying that.

My friend has a garage and, as often happens, a number of people owe him a two figure or low three figure sum of money. Consequently they are all avoiding him, which he thinks is well worth the money they owe him.

... I think there is a film, featuring a gangster guy who takes a kid 'under his wing', and says basically the same thing.

If some jerk you can't stand borrows $10 and then wont pay.. but you never see him again [avoiding you]... well, its worth it!!

The exhaust on my truck got squished at some point on the journey so rang for new one.......... £450!!!

Just been to factors and bought sufficient bits to make one.......£37

So obviously I now need some garage time to weld it together.......meaning I will be unavailable to go Christmas shopping at MK on Sunday
