What makes you grin? Antidote to grumpy thread

Finding around half a gallon of rain water in the rear luggage compartment of the MGF after the recent bouts of heavy rain and after lifting the carpet it was nice to discover,

A... No rust at all.

B... Two rubber grommets thoughtfully placed by Rover.

Removal of B to drain the water has now resulted in a dry boot.

A still stands. No rust at all.

:-)

I had the same in mine. Boot full of water, and the cabin full of water, due to the door seal. No rust anywhere, and it drains straight out thanks to the grommits!

Did you tie them to make a big wide lace, or did you tie them end to end for length?

Remembered you could get previous MOT history ifor a car online so I looked up my new Volvo and was pleasantly surprised to see that since 2006 it's passed quite a few of them first time, and when it hasn't it's been for piddly things like tyre wear & brake flexis and stuff like that.

No mention of the usual list of 'corrosion to...', ' serious corrosion to both....', and even the advisories have been few & far between, so it's all good. :)

I was dictating into my phone earlier and it correctly understood "Vanden Plas 1500" with the capitalisation and everything! And if you read it in that last sentence my laptop did as well!

I did pronounce it plaz which I understand is the correct pronunciation.

Today, I turned down a job for a Logistics company in Erdington doing a similar role to what I'm doing now for which I attended the interview last week. Here is the thing; The job was a temporary position for around a couple of months on which I'd be, essentially, an agency worker. This place is a 10-mile commute through the busiest commuter roads in Birmingham and only offers £1 more than what I'm earning per hour in my current job. Plus I'd have to start off working in the warehouse for a week, I wasn't exactly looking forward to the prospect of donning my steel toe-caps and warehouse gear again.

My current job is great. Nice people, very little stress, I get to wear some nice gear and the job is located no more than 2 miles from my house, plus it's a Government department, not some conglomerate private company where everyone seems to try and outdo each other.

So is this the way it's going now? Are more and more companies gonna start asking job agencies to send candidates for interviews? This is probably the 2nd time in my whole life I've ever been offered a job after going to an interview (EDIT - er...3rd time I think seeing as I've got the European holiday job recently)

Nah, I'm well happy where I am thanks.

If you are enjoying your current job and it has such a short commute you be mad to pack in now, especially if it's only while waiting for the European job.

Always controversial, but I reckon it's plass due to its Dutch origins. Today, I've been driving around in the Land Rover, in the rain. Loving it.

150gb...?

Hope that doesn't mean Autoshite is going to run out of memory before I do?

I downloaded all episodes of The Baron.

Talk about proper chod!

In the first episode, they use a Herald drophead as a getaway car.

Heck, I'd do that nowadays for some odd reason.

There's an old Wheeler Dealers on that I've (surprisingly) not seen before. It's the one with the brown Porsche 928.

Which is surprisingly close to my new years resolution to buy a shit Porsche and make sure it's brown. Just run the idea past The Boy (aged 10 and 7/12ths) and he's insisting it's a 944 which when all he does on the Xbox is "buy" the fastest bestest cars has proper made me grin. "Shall I get a 911 GT3 Carerra 4 RS? What, you'd rather be seen in a rusty 944? DEAL!"

Autoshite, not running right with IE.

Have switched to my new 240gig SSD and gone with Google Chrome.

Everything works again, even has a go at translating foreign ads.

On the way home tonight in the little derv Renault we turned the corner to find a woman running to the bus stop with her hand outstretched. She did a double take at the purple Clio clearly not believing it wasn't the 244 to Woolwich.

I just remembered that I've owned two Ford P100's - a fact that had slipped my mind for years.  Have duly added them to the car spreadsheet.

Cortina P100 is on my bucket list, preferably light blue with a bench seat.

LoLz. Glad I'm not the only one with a car spreadsheet.

Drat. I seem to have lost my car spreadsheet. I think I'm on cars 14, 59 and 60 at the moment.
