^^^ I really hope you can come to the Autoshite meet near Shrewsbury Savvy, honestly. I really want to find out whether you speak just as you write! :-D

When I read TooSavvy's posts all I see is this chap.

Talking of whom, the test Autoshite T-shirt has arrived today. Quality of garment seems really good, quality of picture not quite as good, but that can be worked on I think.

Ladies and gents, I present Mr AS 2014.....

I bought some cheap crap off ebay china mostly while half cut over xmas, anyway it's all turned up lately. 7" android tablet that was £30 posted is actually quite good (screen viewing angle isn't great, other than that it's fine -does youtubes, iplayer, google chrome, skype etc etc) and the £35 dashcam that is absolutely brilliant - video quality in low light as a "dashcam" is on par with my flipping DSLR, and I only bought it as a "just incase someone runs into me" type affair, I might put a few videos and the ebay link up if anyone is interested.

Yah!

Some of you may recall a black Renault Fregate, over in Calais with an alleged blown headgasket, 500 euros..   On it in a thrice, I got bummed off to a local.

Guess who's emailed me back this afternoon?  Oh yes indeed....

GIVE U 200 EUROS COLECT 2 NITE

VERY COCKPIT

It's my birthday; the missus has bought me a pair of brown corduroy trousers for that giffertastic look!

So here's the first victim of this technique, a Panhard PL17.

Looks good, although a pedant might pick you up on that rear wheel's negative camber :-D

It should probably be a grump, but somehow having to de-ice the INSIDE of my windscreen this morning left me grinning and feeling like I've had just a bit more of the Land Rover 'experience'.

Good day to you all

I found a wonderfully hearing-aid-beige Luxo angle-poise lamp in one of our remote exchanges, covered in a thick layer of greb, on its' side in a corner. Brought it back, cleaned it up and it even still works.

So far it's mostly been used to focus the image of the fluorescent tube on the ceiling on my desk.. but I'm sure it'll be useful*

@DW:  Well at least now we know what The Spy Who Loved Me would be like if filmed entirely in Wales.

Phil, sorry, but I have to say this: I don't think that actually is a lamp at all, it look like some sort of 1950's shit-into-an-empty-cotton-buds-container for people with whose knees have permanently folded forward after a bizarre accident involving some blue scissors and a sticky out spring.

We have one at work for checking motherboards for bent pins, not that customer's would damage them then make up some story....

You say fifties... chod like this was still being built much later than that. Check out the dymo-tape on the back - 08/13/80!

...and no smart comments about there not being 13 months either

Edit:  I'm more amused that I just went got the manual because the thing wouldn't come on properly... hold the switch down for a few, it operates the cathode heater, let go, it strikes the tube! It's the diesel engine of desktop appliances :D

Double-grin bonus tonight.

Spent a white troubleshooting why my receiver refused to play records and why all the voltages in one particular part of the circuit board were all up the creek.

Soldered 6 transistors in backwards*, didn't I?

Fixed that up, put it back together and was rewarded for the first time since I bought it with hi-fi stereo vinyl playing!

This indeed makes me happy. Need to rig up an antenna that's not two bits of wire next. Genuine audioshite.

*  Not my bloody fault the old ones were BCE and the new ones EBC on the legs as you look at 'em. Worse than BL for revisions changes.
