What makes you grin? Antidote to grumpy thread

Aye, the TR7 got their attention too. However the interior made of shitty plastics and several embarassing breakdowns soon ruined the effect.

Some of my nephews and my ex-sister-in-law are American. They're all nice, polite, well balanced people who don't eat donuts all day or think they own the world.

Speaking of fanny magnets, I had an actual female woman in the Princess yesterday!  She was really interested and when I asked her if she wanted to have a sit in the car she said yes and then didn't want to get out again... so there you have it, unequivocal proof that BL tin is made almost entirely of clunge attracting materials.  Just a shame I'm gay I guess.

You're thinking of the Ambassador: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/health/154140.stm

Both times I've visited America I've travelled around a fair bit and it's really quite unfair to generalise on Americans as one race with one identity, although on balance a lot of Americans tend to do the same with 'yurp' (when they do this, the only place singled out as its own entity in Europe is England (read: UK).  Every state has its own individual character, outside the south none of the people I met talked about guns, god or country music.   Most of them were friendly, enthusiastic people and it was only really Las Vegas that was populated with nothing but the morbidly obese.

I'm not sure if myself or many other Autoshite members agree with that statement Junkman, and it's quite unfair to be slagging Americans off when there's a number of them on this very forum...

Maybe one of our USA members can even up the job with a bit of bashing of Austrians to restore the ‘abuse equilibrium’, maybe make a joke about Josef Fritzl or something.

I just happened to lift the lid of the neighbours recycling bin to see if the bin men had been (both at the end of the drive, their bin was nearer) and there was a big pile of Classic & Sportscar mags and Evo mags in it. I swiftly rescued them and my car reading is now sorted for the rest of the year!

Not sure why he didn't ask if I wanted them though, he knows I like old motors..

I've just bought a triple layer head gasket set for a K-series engine. I haven't got a Rover, or MG, or indeed anything with a K-series engine.

You know what you have to do billy. Go out and find the best Rover Streetwise you can find with OMGHGF it should stand you about 12 quid and a multi pack of frazzles.

I'd effing love a Streetwise (and a City Rover, sorry) but they're out of my shit budget. I have, however, just dropped off the Astra to it's excited* new owner in Crewe and I have just found what may turn out to be a cheap 214.

My Streetwise hopes were dashed at the weekend. I spotted one and tried a sales pitch on the other half. This was swiftly undone by her review. "It looks stupid." She kind of had a point. The yellow one we saw later looked even more ridiculous. I'd still like one though...

I'd only have one if it had the separate rear seats option.

I've covered over 500 miles in the last two days in the HPE and yesterdays fuel economy was an astounding 38mpg. Just driving the thing makes me grin, I do love the sound of the Lampredi twin-cam engine (even if the exhaust is blowing a bit).

They'd probably make a joke about kangaroos.

Today while out for a run I took  slight detour around a fairly dull and small suburb and saw this very sad looking shrub:

I was muttering to an old german engine while I was throwing it together earlier, mostly your standard xenophobic insults, then I mentioned to the monkey metal lump how the circular VW symbol looks like a rearranged swastika and I noticed the breather housing flicking me a salute, the cheeky fecker.

It's not far off the magic 1,000 mile mark now since I last put petrol station fuel in my 306, and that was a tenner's worth in an otherwise empty tank.

As someone who really doesn't find Jaaaaaaaags all that exciting, that actually looks fit as. Good work!

Cheers. Not just silver, several different shades of Silver.

I'm reconning it's going to be terrifying as I've had fast cars before but nothing anything like this.

I think I'll probably end up with a 2p in my pants after my first drive.

That's the colour of XJ I was after but I just couldn't find one when I was looking. Unlike everyone else on the planet, I actually LIKE silver cars, preferably with a totally black interior, but trying to find a Jag like that proved well nigh impossible.

That looks the mutt's nuts, I really fancy an XJR before all the petrol disappears.
