I have been able to cut the huge expanse of grass in my back garden using the mower blade on number 3.

The first time this year that the rain forest has been tamed, now looking like it did last August.

Excelsior news, congrats to you and your bread. You'll never stop doing lad/dad things either, my son is 19 and we still do daft things together!

I had two or three at least entries into Riger's Profanisaurus (one of which was Fanny Batter) and never got a tap!

Yay Rab! Let's keep the good news coming folks!

In other news, I don't know whether to be Grumpy about this or Cruelly Triumphant; probably the latter as at least it includes the name of a shite car. Last year I finally got offered a job with a private ambulance service here in Paphos, then I couldn't start because of Mrs Ramrod's illness. Now a For Rent sign has appeared on the yard gates, which are closed; several of the vehicles remain behind them. On another forum today, I've seen a thread which suggests the service has been taken over (I believe a "hostile takeover") and pretty-much closed down. So they probably won't be wanting their uniform back then... :D

Actually overtook some other vehicles in the 306 and almost reached 90mph (private test ground) at one point. 646.7 long, slow miles, just over half of which was with no radio (we broke the aerial adjusting it) and some CDs selected by my 16 year old daughter-you can probably imagine how 'enjoyable' that was.

However car did the job, no sign of breaking down or spitting it's dummy out and was dirt cheap to use. I'm giving it a 8.7/10, only the (lack of) performance letting it down.

I learned today that you can make a petrol lawn mower backfire. Still not sure how I managed it.

As a grumpy Glaswegian beer monster I never thought I'd get caught up in the Olympics but there have been some really good events so far, Mo Farah winning the 10Km was ace as well. :D

Absolutely, it's been brilliant to watch a lot of stuff I never thought would appeal. Unfair to single people out but Ennis and Farah were just superb and you could see how much it meant to them. If it inspires others to copy them and take up the sport (as cycling seems to have done) then all the better.

Sitting in koh tao thailand. My life weighs 20 kg. No car. 10 days of relaxation before the next phase of my life begins in Cambodia. Scary but also excellent

Good stuff. Bet you're currently feeling glad that you didn't follow the Scottish hotel thing up!

I think most people who buy hotels end up with considerably less than 20kg of possessions.

At risk of splitting the room again... I've got a hire in about an hour. 53 seat coach, three Orange halls to Govan, drive to Shieldhall, wait for the walk to finish, church service, then return to the three orange halls.

Torrential rain, thunder and lightning have just restarted.

Is it wrong that I'm grinning just a tiny, tiny bit?
