Fixed Range Rover last weekend.

Bought a lower tailgate to replace the horrid rusty one that let my car down, correct colour, in great shape and £75 ftw :D

Horribly wooly steering has been fixed with a recon steering box from Paddocks. Happy days

To get the box off the car I had to remove the oil filter and found that the oil cooler adapter that the filter attached too was loose  that could have been a disasterz.

Anyway using car from trip to Hatfield all this week and it is fucking brilliant again. I love this car. 8)

Now I just need to fix that rattly baffle that farts loudly at motorway speeds. maybe crush the silencer with a jack

I'm in the process of gathering as many Land Rover engines as I can posssibly squeeze into my garage, currently at 7. The type I'm after, petrol and diesel, share a lot of parts, and yesterday I was gifted a 2.5 Diesel Sherpa 400 unit,(previously fitted in a 2a 88, which is now destined for a Tdi transplant) with a unique cam belt cover and pump positioning. At last, I can finally build a 2495cc Diesel, but converted to chain drive, with the cam driven DPA pump, which means it will clear the battery tray, (part of the chassis) meaning I don't have to chop a new chassis up. It also means I have a longer stroke, slightly more power, 5 main bearings, therefore a touch smoother, a little more economical, and best of all, FREE!!!! I prefer the chain drive units me!

Is this thread also for non car related stuff too?

No, the repo was too much work and they had turned down offers of £220k on it. It wasn't worth it. I bought this instead

On the market for ten days. We were the first to view it. It is massive. The ground floor is only about 10% smaller than our whole house at the moment and there's four bedrooms once the attic room is decorated. The garden is twice the size and the garage/workshop area is to die for. The garage workshop was an abbattoir at one point and the former shop a butcher's. There's still some hooks and such like in the first floor for hanging up dead cows.

The plan is live in it a while, decorate the house, build a double garage at the rear of the garden and then convert the current workshop/garage into a holiday let, using the money Janette gets from the sale of her mum and dad's house

No chain, haggled to £222,500. It is all looking good.

Primary school is at the end of the garden and across the lane and an outstanding High School is half a mile away. Result for daughter too.

Apologies for the lack of news on the FSO t-shirt front, I have been really ill and not been able to get to the shop. :( D- Must try harder.

Happy news is that an absolutely lovely Czech girl seems to like me, just wish I was well enough to meet up with her!

The programme about Group B rallying on BBC4 last night - great stuff - interviews with some of the legends like Walter Rohrl and Ari Vatanen and period footage of some awesome machinery. It's well worth watching when they show it again.

Congratulations Jon and Campbell! It's all good today. Happy Birthday SH too (mine on the 16th, ).

Scored a cracking spot today, quite by chance, but as it's the only new one in the camera you'll have to wait  I can't be bothered going though all the process for two pics (idle sod). Yes, two pics, it's that good!

Also, sold a coffee table today to a couple with no transport. As I delivered it they not only gave me my price, but added a fiver for delivering. Now that's a result!

I was watching that Chasing Classic Cars program last night where the guy goes around trying to buy up exotic (non shite) classics. He went to see some rarish Lancia out in the sticks in Portland that this old boy had. This guy's back garden was basically forest dotted with loads and loads of tarps hiding various random rusty old Lancias and god knows what then at the end the camera pans around and..

A friggin SD1.

The next thing he goes to look at is an AC Bristol, which is an AC Ace with a Bristol engine in it. It's in a totally different location somewhere in the middle of nowhere USA and as he drives in the camera catches this.

I wonder if the Midget's though of as exotic in the states?

It's actually a pretty good programme as he doesn't half go to see/buy some interesting stuff.

Agreed, seen it a couple of times, and it's a real "lottery ticket" type show - let's be honest, theres probably only a few people on here that if their EurolottorolloverOMGhowmuchwontletitchangemylife numbers came up WOULDNT spend a fair portion of it on some "nice" stuff (as well as a Wolsely 2200 and a Horsey Horseless Cabriolet)...I know my wish list would require a large aircraft hanger, probably with two floors to house everything.

I started a thread ages ago, pretending i'd won £85mill, and donating £10k to everyone to buy a couple of motahs, can't find it now*
