Currently grinning about my little MGZR I bought, it looks very possible the bodged accident damage repairs can be repaired safely and to M.o.T STANDARDZ YO. So after they are done I will be on the hunt for a K-Series 1.4 engine and 'box from either a ZR or a Roover 25. Must not have HGF, not too concerned how many miles it has or hasn't done, good clutch a bonus etc. So if anyone has one of these knocking about they wouldn't mind negotiations on then please let me know. I'm setting myself a goal to have it finished by the end of the year at least, so I can drive it to Edinburgh and celebrate Hogmanay there with SWMBO. :D

It's a nervous grin... but I just bought some shite, unseen, from ebay.

What can possibly go wrong?

Not telling us in a thread about your epic shite-collecting trip, that's what could go wrong!

Oh, and, good luck with the new purchase.

Top effort, lass! The most epic road trips / shite ownership stories usually start just like that :D

I'm also on a shite collecting mission on Saturday - expect tales of sex, drugs, intrigue, National Express coaches and a curvy 1980's icon :D

When passenger of foot heave in sight, tootle the horn. Trumpet him melodiously at first, but if he still obstacles your passage then tootle him with vigor.

Picked up the video of the series 'Outside Edge' for 50p from a charity shop at the weekend. Josie Laurence, a tatty Renault 4 and a Volvo 245... GR8!

After some nobber pulled the windscreen wiper off the Leon, and I tried with only partial success (works to 40mph then lifts off the screen) to fix it, I ebayed one.

Plenty BINs of £25-£30 a pair. Emailed "seatskodauk" as they were breaking a Leon, £25 posted.

Put a cheeky £5 bid on a non-BIN pair and won them for 99p - arrived next day! He'd charged £4.95 postage which I thought was a bit steep but I didn't mind since the wiper arms were so cheap, lo and behold the postage has cost £4.54 so bang on the money once you figure in bubblewrap etc.

The total win will be when I make more than 99p selling the unused nearside one back on ebay :)

Just found this in a November 1984 issue of CAR, check out the prices!

Cool! I ought to ask about a staff discount! 8)

In other news, Nicola and I have a completion date of the 24th, our first house together so we're bouncing off the walls with glee. Houseshite!

Additionally, looks like my position within the company has finally been recognised:-

Congratulations on getting your first house. You are, of course aware, that you will henceforth have no money for the next 25 years? :D

"have to" is a good master, though. You learn to fix your own stuff and get your mates to help you. My first house wasn't very old, but needed a fair bit of work

My mate re-wired it in exchange for me rebuilding the engine in his MG Midget

My Dad made from scratch and fitted a new kitchen

I got a complete set of double glazing and doors for £100. They had been incorrectly made for a similar house, so two of my bricklayer mates modded my house in a weekend so the DG would fit!

The garden was a mess, so a mate with a Sitemaster digger flattened the lot for a bottle of Scotch and a Chinese takeaway.

I got 4 tons of pink 19mm pebbles for the driveway in exchange for fixing the computer system at the builder's suppliers.

Beat that lot Tommy Walsh!

That's truly bangernomics applied to the home, very well done sir! :D The double-glazing is a particular highlight!

Damn XMs are following me when househunting.

Viewed one house yesterday. Two doors up had a P reg DS Pallas and two Series 1 XMs outside.

Our estate agent was out today doing the sale particulars and he told me of his dad's XM auto estate sitting in the garage, unused for two years - one owner from new, 100k on the clock and it is a 2.1TD.

I think I may want to buy it ...

I was watching some robot videos, one of them was folding towels and stuff and it was overall quite boring. Then this came up in the "related"

I realised after speeding through the last TG episoid that I'm mainly watching it for the music now: last week Battles, this week Holy Fuck. GR8 music! A bit like reading nudy mags for the interviews though... couldn't choose between grump or grin, but grin won by 0.1 point.

Getting a free ride to work courtesy of Northern Rail, no where to buy a ticket at my local station, and no conductors on either if the two trains I took this morning. Then Starbucks upgraded my coffee to a massive one as they had no small cups left!

...for once an ebay hero. There's been a couple of kits (ickle airfix style ones) I've been trying to source from Japan as the only person who sells them outside Japan wants €70 a piece despite their real value being around €15. I bought something from a Japanese seller and then asked him whether he would be able to purchase them for me off Yahoo Auctions (their version of ebay where no-one exports) and bung up on t'bay with a decent BIN. Which he's duly done and now for a good deal less I have four of the buggers so I can sell two on and be an ebay WINNA!!!11! Oh... and the kits themselves are of Skyline 2000GTs, GR9 for drifitng etc etc.

Volksy you've scored well there!
